Roster Maintenance

Posted by Mike Wobschall on October 7, 2010 – 7:52 am

The big news of the week is of course the trade for WR Randy Moss. But the Vikings completed some other roster business this week as well.

Before the deal for Moss, the Vikings traded DE Jayme Mitchell to the Cleveland Browns for an undisclosed draft pick.

After the deal for Moss, the Vikings waived WR Logan Payne from the practice  squad and signed T Andrew Gardner to the practice squad.

Gardner played college football at Georgia Tech and was selected by the Miami Dolphins in the 2009 NFL Draft. Miami cut Gardner and then Baltimore signed the 6-6, 305-pound T to their practice squad. He was a 2-time First-Team All-ACC performer (2007, 2008).

If the Vikings want to make some roster space as far as cap room goes. Then they should get rid of Bernard Berrian he can not catch the ball at all weather it be in traffic or when he is wide open. He needs to go.

    Carl,

Berrian is going to get better now that moss is here. But he needs to be put out. He would be better off somewhere else.

This is just what we needed! If O-line can improve pass protection then the team is complete and Superbowl Victory is within reach.

Bring Payne back and trade or drop BB then use his money to extend Moss.

Berrian and Moss need to be sent on simultaneous fly patterns…….one will get single coverage and its game over……..over and over again.

I’m curious whats going to happen when rice comes back. What will happen to berrian? I’m hoping they will deal him for draft pick. Looking forward to the upcoming games.

Letting Payne go was a big mistake. He should be the 3rd receiver on this team – it was not a coincidence that the Vikes offense disappeared as soon as they moved him from that position to practice squad. Moss may or may not bring it back, but after Payne tore it up in the preseason, it is difficult to fathom how the front office did not realize that they had a bargain.
