Submit Your Questions For The Vikings Coordinators

Posted by Ryan Cardinal on September 28, 2010 – 8:33 am

Each week, we ask fans to submit their questions for Vikings Head Coach Brad Childress for the “Ask Coach” segment of “Vikings GamePlan,” which airs on Sunday mornings at 10:30 AM on both KARE 11 and FS North.

However, this week it’s time for the Vikings three coordinators — Darrell Bevell (offense), Leslie Frazier (defense), and Brian Murphy (special teams) — to step in for Coach Childress and answer some fan questions.

So, via the comments section below, submit your question, along with which coordinator it’s meant for and your name and hometown, and your question could be answered on this week’s show.

Are you finally convinced that running the ball more is the answer to a big part of the offense problem?

It comes as no surprise to any member of the viking family, Favre has been taking too much abuse. While we wouldn’t want to expose plans to the enemy, are there any concrete plans and adjustments being made to keep him from suffering this continued battering?

Me and my family quickly realized that a lot of the Vikings issue were in result to a particular player Phil Loadholt, even last season he would missed certain important tackles, along with this year. We love all our Viking family members. Is there any plan on getting another right tackle to take Phil Loadholt place to maybe get him more training or allow him to view the mistakes that he is making and possibly costing the Vikings the game.

Every team wants the most talent they can have on the field, with that said does it not make sense to put Joe Web on the football field as a WR. With Ebb on the field the Vikings have the most talent on the field!

Even tho, Favre does not see himself on the same page as the wide receivers. I really believe that is not what is stopping the offense. The offensive line has a lot to do with how Favre and the offense is rolling. If Favre gets time like when he has had time 19 years and running. He makes plays with his wide outs no matter who they are from Bill Schroeder to Javon Walker from Corey Bradford to Roell Preston. He has never really had a go to guy in the past besides sterling sharpe. He makes due. But he also has had a decent amount of time in the pocket to figure it out. Also the o line has to block better for peterson. He runs to hard for what it is worth. He is just going to get hurt. The wideouts are part to plane but i believe that the o line is more to blame than that.

Hey Darrell, Bruce from Minneapolis and I was wondering why when so many other teams put their best guys in the Number #1 & #2 receiver slots, why we don’t do that? It seems that would create some healthy competition and let these receivers know that they will have a secure place on the team when they perform well.

will the running game continue to rely on #28 or will you work Gerhart in with a full back similiar to Peterson?

  12. By Bruce on Sep 28, 2010 | Reply

Hey Darrell, Bruce from Minneapolis and I was wondering why we don’t try shuffling guys around on our O-line? Defensive Ends are shooting right past our tackles and it’s killing our offense, and Brett is paying for their mistakes. I know BIG is good sometimes but our tackles don’t seem quick enough to stay with their block. What can we do to fix this?

  13. By Bruce on Sep 28, 2010 | Reply

Hey Leslie, Bruce from Minneapolis and I was wondering why we don’t blitz that often? Is it because you don’t trust our secondary? We just don’t seem to pressure the quarterback as much as other teams presuure ours. Would you consider blitzing more often to create confusion as well as turnovers?

  14. By Bruce on Sep 28, 2010 | Reply

Hey Leslie, Bruce from Minneapolis and I was wondering if you could coach our guys more on stripping the ball creating turnovers? I watched the Bears/Packers game and both their defenses try and strip the ball much more than our guys do. Is there some kind of drill you can use with tackling that will get our guys to go for the strip?

Hey Brian, Bruce from Minneapolis and I was wondering if you have ever considered using AP as a kick returner just once in awhile? Is that a No No or is it something you could try for grins? Seems like he could take one to the house if you let him try it.

  17. By Eric DeShon on Sep 28, 2010 | Reply

Look at running a “Wild Cat” formation with Tavaris Jackson. Give Brett a break and mix things up. All defenses know Brett is never a threat to run up field. Brett is the leader and if he really wants to win he will “allow” himself off the field occasionally. Bring something else to the table. Don’t get me wrong, I am a huge Favre fan. If the Vikings really want to get there, they need something a little different. This can open things up for AP also. He cant do it all alone. Bring a third dimension to the offense!

This question is for Darrell Bevel, Offensive Coordinator. I had questioned the move at the time and now am asking it, albeit a week late perhaps. My question goes back to the 4th and goal at the end of the Miami game. At the time we had all three time outs remaining, my feeling was we should have taken a time out to figure out what play would give us the best chance of scoring to win the game, instead of just throwing in a run play to Adrian. So, I guess my question is why did we not take a timeout to discuss the options before choosing a game deciding play.

my brother leo is a marine and me a army infantry, want to say to really all three. You all are doing good. Are there struggles? yes. I do have a question at the end, but we really like the team. Brett is an Iron man, without him i don’t see the team going far. AP is amazing and that defense is awesome. we were wondering if we could see Joe webb out there as a WR, and the most important to let the players know that certain marines and army guys that are home watch the games and see you put your all into it and it blesses us. The monday night game, Issac Bruce came into Chicago and showed the younger receivers how the martz offense works, was wondering if possibly maybe Sidney could show how brett likes to have the ball. either way, Just wondering if there was going to be more protection for Brett? He’s old, but he’s old school and the best, possibly the rookies getting some action? and just wanted to say to Mr. Frazier, Mr. Bevell and Mr. Murphy that we as soldiers and marines appreciate the Vikes. Let the players know we give/gave it all on the field and when one goes down with us, someone has to step up. thanks for listening. also Mike Wobschall and Siewert do a great job. Thanks for listening to the fans. Encouragement is key. I remember running in formation, six minute miles and if someone quit we would leave them behind, but if someone was struggling and was behind, we would turn turn around run with them, not shouting insults, but encouragement and we would finish together. That’s what this team needs. thanks

You don’t have to publish this but pass it on to Coach Bevell. In the future when we are 1 yard from the endzone have Brett do a blind bootleg. No one in a thousand years would expect Brett to run it in at this stage of his career. When we need it…like we did against Miami…call the blind bootleg.

    Just a thought.

About the last comment to the coordinators, i am neurologically impaired as a disabled vet please just understand that. It’s from my time in. Love the whole group, just wanted to know if Joe Webb (huge guy) could be used more with kickoffs and WR, maybe more carries for All day, and use tahi as an extra blocker especially against clay matthews type of players. mix up the sets. ten yards at a time is still good, it’s a first down, but a good threat downfield has to be Berrian or baskett. overall, love the vikes.

My question is for the offensive and defensive coordinators: As you prepare game plans for each week, do you ever reverse your roles, and scout the other side of the ball on your own team? For example, Leslie Frasier taking a look at the offense, and saying, “given our opponent for this coming week, if I had their personnel and played their style of defense, here’s how I would attack our offense,” and vice versa?

Also, and I believe some others have asked about this, any thoughts of involving either Webb or Jackson in some type of “wildcat” formation? I know those guys are pros and ready to step in at all times, but I’m sure it helps keep you focused if you know you’re going to be on the field for at least a couple of plays.

Thanks, and keep up the great work!

Why aren’t you playing your secret weapon… Joe Webb? Go ahead and groom him to be the future QB phenom. But for now, play him at WR. The man showed you in the preseason his natural athletic abilities. Get the ball in his hands, and like .P.H. and A.P. he’ll take it to the house. Maybe then the current WR, B.B. can learn how to get open… and catch a ball.

Hey would you guys consider having Ryan Cook as the starter C instead of Jon Sullivan? He played well for a guy that hasnt had many starts. And would you consider sitting Phil Loadholt because quite frankly he is the reason why Favre cant go airborne like would want to…..

  25. By Derick on Sep 28, 2010 | Reply

Coach Bevell I was wondering why Joe Webb isnt listed as a WR so he can come in and play. I know 3rd string QB’s dont count against the 25 man roster because of the 1st and 2nd string QB’s ineligeabilty. With that being said I saw Hank Baskett drop a simple hitch pass. WTF!!! Joe Webb would have caught that pass and beat that corner and at least would have gotten a first down. I know he can play at least as good as Hank even without the reps. A hitch pass, How could that possibly hurt his development at QB. Play the MAN

Not to mention the trickery and skull-duggery you could incorperate with Webb being in there. Think about it. The posibilities and good greatly outwiegh the negatives and risk.

Is the Pistol formation that is being used in the college ranks something that the viking offence could use. I see it as a plus for A.P. better vision for blocking when picking up the blitz or helping on def. ends like J. Peppers and it would give him better vision and position for running the ball .

i don’t know why the replacement of a number #1 receiver wan’t resolved. why didn’t we get marshall! since you failed to replace Rice, this will put us in a position to be completely out of the ncf North race by week 8. our talent level is now similiar to the 2006 vikings when bobby Wade was #1 receiver. you have let the vikings fan base down by giving this season away. the season we should of went to super bowl failed by bad management

Hi: Why can’t you coaches make the necessary replacement(s) and adjustment(s) to the O-line to make for better protection of Favre? The problem is not Favre. It is the lousy play of the O-line. Favre cannot continue to take these weekly beatings. If so I can assure you the Vikings will not succeed this year. It appears all realize this except the coaches. Also regarding the defense, where are the sacks this year? If the Vikinga are to succeed better play is required from the vikings on both sides of the ball. In addition better coaching is required. Some times you coaches appear to be clueless while you are out coached by the opposing team. LBj1

I have a two part question, the first being for coach Frasier(best D coordinator in the league), do you plan on bringing more heat now that Cedric the entertainer and CC rider are back? Coach Bevell, it seems the defense is getting pressure on a stationary Favre. I believe there’s some life left in those legs, my question is, Do you plan on installing a few roll outs to widen the pocket and keep it moving in order to hopefully give the immortal one more time to sling the rock? Thanks guys! GO VIKES!!!!

How well do you see Hank Baskett and Greg Camarillo progressing in our offense? Do either have a chance to impress well, and get some substantial playing time? Percy and Shank are every bit as good as we think they are but we need more production from a WR standpoint. Who has been looking good in practice lately and might get an opportunity to step up?

    To: Coaches Childress and Bevell:

Has any thought been given to taking more advantage of Brett’s field general skills by allowing him (on occasion) to call his own plays in the huddle, or having him utilize a no huddle offense (ala Peyton Manning)? We’ve only got him for 13 more games (excluding playoffs), wouldn’t we give opposing teams more to think about, especially with our receiving corp wounded until Sidney returns? One thing we always hated about Brett when he was at Green Bay was his natural feel for the game another was his ability to take over a game, let’s use that to OUR advantage.

    Thanks!!

Why did you not pick up VJack? Having him and Rice as your wideouts put harvin in the slot. Have Berrian be back up if they don’t produce. Baskett, Lewis, need to go! You could have VJack, Rice, Harvin, and Camarillo as your 4 wideouts and Shank as your TE. Favre will do big things!

we have the perfect weapons to run the wild cat. Either Percy and AP or T Jack and AP. T Jack actually gives you the threat of the pass that others don’t have. Plus it gives Brett a few plays off.

as a viking fan i would rather see our defense face a 3er and inches vs a 3rd and 20. our secondary can’t cover. they tackle great but only after the first down has been made. and as far as our offense, when will we get rid of mckinney. he is so slow and gets beat by the average pass rusher. we never should have signed him in the first place. now we should try to trade him and move on.

  41. By Jeremy on Sep 28, 2010 | Reply

First off great win over Detroit!
Has there been any consideration to trading Bernard Berrian? I understand it is important to have a guy that can stretch the field but 5 catches for 38 yards in 3 games doesn’t seem like a productive #1 or #2 WR. Favre has attempted to target him down the field but it seems he doesn’t seem to adjust to the ball when it’s in the air. We have a good possession receiver in Camarillo and Percy is a stud in the slot.
Would think with Favre’s last year there would be more of a sense of urgency to bring in someone who could help him, especially after what he was able to do for us last year with Rice healthy.

    a couple of things:
Why don’t we move Jared Allen around so other teams cannot manhandle him?
Why don’t we get Joe Webb involved at least in WR, Wildcat,???Especially since are current WRs are so weak….
Lastly, why don’t we get our Oline settlked? They seem ineffectual.

As a fan with no offensive play calling/design, or offensive coordination background or experience………….if I can predict almost every Viking run play I wonder if there aren’t opposing defensive coordinators who might be able to do the very same!!!!!!! On first down it would seem to me that success is best served when the defense has no clue (run/pass) and might just as well flip a coin. Imposing your offensive will is one thing and certainly has merit ………… but signaling to the whole world what that will is ,up front, seems counter intuitive.

If we are going to have any Favre left for the playoffs, we should consider pulling him off the field for recovery when he gets whacked, or for a sneak or sneak fakes on 3rd or 4th & short.. Their D will have to respect the sneak with Web in there. and that will open things up. Heck why not try wildcat with Joe Web or Percy?

On the D… Have you considered going with 5 D line pass rushers in long down situations, since we have so many good pass rushing D-line.

  48. By Josh806 on Sep 28, 2010 | Reply

Lets see if Chris Cook can catch! Now thats something that makes more sence than using Webb. Why not try that because I think what they are doing now is short of a spark. Vikings are famous for finding gold in dirt and nothing to loose other than a few minutes. He should know the wr routes seeing how in practice he covers them. Give it a try.

Is there a chance of us seeing Joe Webb come out to play in the final minutes of a game that is already won? For example 28-7 or better, it’s possible since we had the Giants beat last year 47-7 and the Cowboys 34-3 last year.

At that point it doesn’t make sense to keep Favre in and risk an injury. Wouldn’t it be beneficial to have Webb or T-Jack to go out and play a little so they aren’t rusty later in the season if Favre should be injured.

  52. By Michael on Sep 28, 2010 | Reply

Just wanted to comment that I think not having Rice may be a blessing in disguise. I think this is forcing the line to get in a better rhythm with Peterson and helping Favre to develop chemistry with our entire receiving corp. I think this will result in having a more efficient and cohesive Team, especially once Rice gets back.

Also, I want to say its been very impressive how the coaches have handled the adversity we have faced this yr and its nice to have such a great group of intelligent coaches.. Keep up the great work and Skol Vikings!!!

Why is Berrian still on the field? I did like him, two years ago. However, he did not seem to show much effort for many of the games last year and does not seem like he is trying all that much this time around. Has he lost his step? He is no longer a deep threat. Is it possible to put Harvin in Berrian’s place and then put Camarillo in the slot?

We as Vikings fans understand the West Coast offense is a complex system not usually pick up by a players in first year trying to learn the system I’m sure it is some what overwhelming especially for rookies , with that being said surely the offensive coordinator could install some packages for a person of Joe Webbs ability please don’t let this talent go to waste standing on the sideline all year. If the Vikings are truly all in this year to me that means utilizing all the players on the roster even if they are playing out of their intended position to get the job done, What ever it takes to bring a Superbowl Championship back to Minnesota!

Brian Murphy — We need Harvin returning on KO and PR ( Harvin would be good for at least 6 points a game ) with 6 more points each for the first 2 games we should be 3-0 – do you agree or disagree ?

We do run the ball a lot how do you think peterson is getting monster yards, we have to balance it out also you can’t just run. In the nfl running alone will not cut it, nfl is a pass happy league if you are going to run it especially playing against the saints you will have major catching up to do if you get behind. Balance is the key to success on every offense.

ok, my question is this: I watched highlights of the Detroit Lions game and passing is what got the Vikes scoring. in the New Orleans game, the only plays I saw were running plays. are you guys going to balance it up as far as running or passing plays go? It would help more if you mixed it up.

How come we don’t try the slant plays more this year and when we are in the Red Zone a roll out like Fran Tarkington used to do? Fran used to roll out and have a running back just over the line and toss the ball to him if he couldn’t run for a touchdown himself. If Brett ran a couple in the defense couldn’t trust the play and would have to play it honest. Do we need to get a deep threat for Brett to through to? We need to do something to give the passing game a shot in the arm.

Philly Viking, You couldn’t be more WRONG about Brett Favre. He didn’t hold out for money. He has more money that he knows what to do with. He’s a southern conservative guy who doesn’t own multiple houses or yachts like other rich stars do. Or does he go on cruises or expensive trips. He spends most his money on gas for his tractors and chain saws. What made him come back was his relationships with his fellow players and the fact he loves football. Remember, this is the only guy in NFL history that offered part of his salary to bring in another player. Brett is NOT about money!

We apparently haven’t learned anything from last season in reference to protecting Favre. Why is he continually getting pounded?

There should be two revelations dawning on Childress; 1 – the running game is essential to out success. 2 – with the amount of talent and experience on this team, the Vikings should have problem securing a Super Bowl Trophy. Anything less should result in Childress LOOSING HIS JOB!

We should consider using Joe Webb in the offense at times. Not really to use the “Wildcat” formation but give him a few snaps a game to mix things up.

One other thing you better fix the offensive line or Farve will not last and it will be a long season. You all had better thank the Lord every day you have Adrian Peterson. To the offensive coordinator, due to the status of output by the receivers why not use the wildcat ultilizing # 14. He should be on the field as much as possible
(REMINDS ME OF VICK#7) He’d gave defensives around the league huge match problems.
The O line should go predominantly off balance with # 28 as a weak side wing.

    THINK ABOUT IT.

This site is a joke, compared to other NFL teams, the primal goal of this site is to protect Childress, Its time for Viking fans to demand that Chilly be fired, if he is not we will not make the playoffs. Sage never should have been traded nor should Darious, for future draft picks. Ha Coach there is no future, there is no tomorrow, there is no next year.. Win today or never win. Its that simple, if we do not do it this year it could be another decade before were in position to win a superbowl.

We need to protect the qb and give favre more time to throw just like manning brees and brady they have a ton of time in the pocket, it gives receivers time to break there routes to get open. We can’t get open because the pressure gets to favre so fast by the time he throws it nobody is open because he is hit already. Pass protection needs to get better loadholt and mckinnie just are terrible, rotate lineman in and out keep fresh legs in there I guess the starters are too lazy to move around and play the whole game they get tired and aired out.

I’M JUST THINKING THAT WE ARE BLESSED ENOUGH TO HAVE ABOUT 11 D LINEMEN THAT CAN START ON NFL TEAMS — SO WHY NOT RESEARCH THE NFL FOR TEAMS THAT ARE IN DIRE NEED FOR A D-LINEMAN & GET A QUALITY POSITION PLAYER THAT WE NEED IN A TRADE?

WE MUST USE WHATEVER CURRENCY WE HAVE IF THE OPPORTUNITY TO IMPROVE OUR TEAM EXISTS. BY THE TIME WE MAKE THE PLAY-OFFS, THESE MOVES MAY PROVE TO BE CRITICAL.

ALSO, IF MICHAEL VICK WAS NOT DEEMED TOO VALUABLE TO PLAY RECEIVER AND WILDCAT FORMATIONS, THEN WHY NOT LET YOUNG MR. WEBB HAVE A CRACK AT IT – HE COULD SPECIALIZE IN JUST A HANDFUL OF OPTION PLAYS – JUST THE EXTRA ELECTRICITY TO DRIVE DEFENSIVE COORDINATORS BONKERS.

Wildcat is not the solution to this offense we have ap he gains more yards than that weak wildcat b.s. Webb is a qb not a wideout he is labeled as a qb not a wideout we don’t need another kordell stewart slash type. Webb has potentials though to be a great qb in this league hope he starts after favre retires his crazy legs will be a threat. The vikings don’t need the wildcat fake offense plus teams are finding ways to stop it, the secret is not creating a heavy rush the d-line patience and watching who snaps. Linebackers all spy on the qb or rb, drop back and play coverage. Usually the wildcat has a qb lined up at the wideout spot all they have to do is jam up the qb hold him do whatever it takes and make sure he doesn’t get the ball thrown to him. We need to line up harvin in the backfield with ap and let them run wild. Let harvin run more he is a good runner.

Will there be additional, extensive training while on break. I read Favre plans on watching films, will/have the others joined him?

I’m competitive person in the sense, you tell me I can’t do something, if I know I can do it, I will do it, and do it 10x better.

I don’t see that from this team. They have all these articles and reports flying around. I’m sure most ignore it, but its still there, in the back of their head, someone saying I can’t do it. They can’t do it. They aren’t the same.

What I would love to see is do it 10x better and shut up those news casters!

Then all the reports with AP saying he’s the only one that can bail us out, AP all day. Yes well we all love AP, but is it fair to put that much pressure on his shoulders and put the entire season in his hands?

WAKE UP, you dont buy a new car because yours gets a flat, we need a number one wideout not a new QB and using Percy as a return guy, that makes as much sence as a blind man running a libary, if he gets hurt then we have who left to catch?

Why not try Chris Cook at wideout? Our D has held up great almost three whole games without him. He is 6’2 and what 200 pounds. He is a physical player who takes the ball from the air. He knows the wideout routes already. Why not try Chris

The o-line is my biggest concern they cannot pick up the blitz they look lost and cant pickup assignments, maybe fire the oline coach and bring in a veteran mastermind oline coach with good reputation. When teams blitz us just watch someone will run free almost every time, this also goes for ap he needs to block better also. Opening up lanes for peterson to run is a different story than picking up the blitz and keep the qb clean. I’m sure favre thinks the same way, if we give favre time to make his reads he will deliver. Bench loadholt and mckinne we need to draft o line in the draft 1st and 2nd round.

Hey Darrell, Bruce from Minneapolis and aside from not having our best receivers in the Number #1 & #2 slots respectively, we really need to fix this O-line problem. Why can’t we move Phil Loadholt from right tackle to right guard? He isn’t quick enough to stay with his block on rushing defensive ends. I personally think he’s too big to be quick enough. Can we fix this so we can give Favre more than 1 second to make a pass?

O-line = big problems for Farve having time and AP’s running lanes. Lets acctually address this before both of the get hurt and out for the rest of the season.

Receivers – Why don’t we have our guys in their respective places. BB is not a #1 anymore(not that I think he ever was. remember bears dropped him because he couldn’t catch but 1 out of 10 throws to him). I know we are still paying BB millions and that’s majority of the reason he’s still in, but what about V Jack? He still gets paid and sits on the bench. Bench Chilly too! Chilly, Berrian, and V Jack could cuddle together and sign campfire songs as it seems like all 3 of them have their heads in the clouds(or somewhere much darker, use your imagination). Camarillo 1, Basket 2, Lewis 3, and Percy always in the slot oppisite Shank. Let the boys compete for their spots and playing time! Trade BB to anyone that will take him! Trade V Jack for a lava lamp, and Chilly will run out of town crying his eyes out because all of his lovers are gone!!!

And lastly Joe Webb. However you would chose to use him doesn’t even matter, this kid is a natural athlete and should be seeing playing time! Even if it’s limited/special package plays.

DEAR COACH BEVEL, THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION YOU NEED TO ANSWER THIS. OUR TWO TACKLES ARE THE TWO BIGGEST AND HEAVIEST GUYS ON THE TEAM. THEY WEIGH A COMBINED WEIGHT OF CLOSE TO 700 POUNDS AND COINSIDENTLY THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR BEING EXPECTED TO MOVE THE QUICKEST AND KEEP THESE SUPER FAST DEFENSIVE ENDS FROM GETTING TO FAVRE. WILL YOU PLEASE MOVE THEM TO THE INSIDE OR PUT SOMEONE SMALLER AND QUICKER IN THEIR SPOTS BEFORE WE LOSE THIS SEASON DUE TO FUMBLES, TIPPED P A S S E S AND INTERCEPTIONS BECAUSE FAVRE IS GETTING HURRIED AND PRESSURED WAY, WAY, WAY TOO MUCH. THANK YOU, BRUCE FROM MINNEAPOLIS

This question is for Pat Morris the O-line coach do you feel that the O-line is assertive enough in the running? and in the pass blocking they seem to give up to much ground before they start to engage their blocking. Our O-tackles don’t have quick enough feet to cut the edges off and and getting beat by very fast defensive ends, more agility drills that involve slide and kick step in practice might help. Sure hope we start to see this O-line come together as a cohesive unit with a mean nasty attitude or it won’t matter that we have Adrian Peterson, Brett Favre, or Sidney Rice when he returns if we want a shot at the Superbowl this year The O-line is going to have to perform much better than they have shown us thus far this year if the Viking want a shot at the Superbowl. Coach them up Pat please!

  98. By Ace on Sep 30, 2010 | Reply

Why doesn’t TJack come in on 3rd and short, so that we can use the sneak the for the 1st down? With that out of the playbook, the defense never needs to guess what is coming…everyone knows, and it hasn’t succeeded when it’s been crucial to succeed. Adrian is fabulous, but he can’t fend off 11 defenders, especially when it’s 3rd or 4th and short–a handoff takes alot of time; a sneak is immediate and takes no time to develop. Just a suggestion.

  99. By Guest on Sep 30, 2010 | Reply

We need to rotate o-line in and out to keep fresh legs in there, also that shows you who is up to the task that way they can evaluate who is doing there job or not but for now rotate the o-line in and out and put in fresh legs because favre cannot continue on with his face on the ground all the time. Pat morris needs to study films on defenses make him stay longer with chilly and study film. If I was the coach the o-line coach would of been gone they need to shore that up right now. Chilly needs to get in morris ears and make up wake up this problem has been an ongoing problem for this team for quite sometime. Pass protection has been a problem for many years.

Hey Ryan, I realize that only a few questions of these will be answered by the respective coaches, but don’t you think it would help having all these coaches read all these posts? While fans are not not coaches, they still are pretty smart about the game of football and see the obvious problems from watching the games all the time. And when you have a big precentage of the fans pointing out the same problem and presenting similar solutions, don’t you think these coaches could take that into consideration and perhaps make some changes based on feedback from other observers? The funny thing is that a lot of these observations regarding our team are being echoed by other football fans across the country. It’s kind of embarrassing to say the least. It makes our coaches look blind and incompetant because they are either ignoring the obvious problems or not finding the solution.

Maybe the team should be looking into a sports psychologist to help. Anytime I hear Favre (who I love) or many of the other players comment on the game, it has a very pessimistic tone to it. I never here them focus on the good parts of the game. The mind and visualizing what you want out of your performance are very powerful tools. If you are focusing on limitations, you will enhance your limitations. If you don’t think you are as good as last year, you definately won’t be because you think you are not, etc, etc. Favre is the worst one for doing that too. Pessimists are never champions or successful, remember that. If you can change your mind set, the rest will most likely follow. It is worth a try.

Coach Bevell we keep hearing about how talented the Vikings are and they are loaded so many weapons year end and year out . If we are truly all in why isn’t Joe Webb being utilized? weapon that is unloaded is useless! load him up and put him in there. This seems to be one of the overwhelming questions by the Vikings fans on this board and yes we understand the implication of the use of the other quarterbacks if he is used during the game . It was the Vikings press release after all saying they are “ALL IN” that means you are willing to gamble yet we have not seen any indication of this thus far this year. Imagination and innovative play calling could turn this team into a scoring machine. Open mindedness will be the key to the Vikings chances this year. We are all watching and praying for this.
