it looks to me, the viking defense plays a zone defense? why not more of a man-to-man defense? seems opponents are getting alot of catches on viking defenders?!

thank you, viking fan from n.m.

Coach keep up the good work – but 2 losses pegged at offence…WHY?…training camp gave you a look at good recievers…Why go to Berrian so much when 3 younger WR showed so great then??? Activate at least one of them…

  3. By Eric on Sep 21, 2010 | Reply

The D and Run game are firing on all cylinders. We just need recieving outside of Shiancoe…maybe some quick screens to Harvin and Berrian. Rice was the deep threat and that is killing us more than anything. Somehow you have to find someone to catch the deepball.

Why do we keep trying to force Farve into our system? He isn’t anywhere near as good as he was last year. I honestly think we should run the ball more. Adrian Peterson is the key to our team. The Miami game should have been won. Take the ball from Farve and put it in Peterson’s hand. I think we had a chance to win the Saints game too. We lost it all in the second half because we stop running. Peterson got 13 touches the first half and only 6 the second half. Why did we stop running? Why do we keep trying to be a passing team? Farve isn’t Farve anymore but Peterson is. Explain why we don’t run the ball more? Farve has had 5 turnovers and Peterson has had none. Why aren’t we running more?

Brad why do you have no common sense on football, i mean ive seen you do something in almost every game that i guy WTF is he thinking anyone with common sense no’s u dont do that.

Coach why do you get soft with your playcalling when will you attack from beginning to the end. I like how you used harvin against the dolphins keep going to harvin good things will happen he does have an issue with fumbles so tell him to hold on to the ball. Why not run harvin more why do you go away from plays that work. It seems like you come out gun slinging and then you calm it down why not attack attack attack. You might want to consider getting as many receivers involved as much as possible teams are double teaming berrian or harvin or shank. You are going to have to develop other wideouts and let them make plays give them more playing time like greg lewis, camarillo don’t go to the same guys all the time mix it up common coach defenses are knowing who we are going to throw to spread it around. Don’t be afraid to give practice squad receivers time on the field you can’t just expect players to be good if they stand on the sidelines get them a chance to develop and make plays.

When are you going to allow this team to win? When are you going to properly use the talent that we have and stop being so predictable? Do you want us to lose this year? Why are we so thin on WR but yet have some many TEs? When are you going to show some enthusiam and get the players mentally fired up for the game? When will the bad decisions stop? If you don’t pick Jackson and or make serious changes very soon, Farve will check out from this team.

When will you fix the O-line?

    Coach,
im not as concerned with Favre’s body as i am his mind; is there anyone talking to him regarding his mindset? it must be a daunting situation for Brett. he may be thinking that he should have gone out on top with the Vikes last year, or it may becoming more of a reality shock that the team this year is not the team of last year, or how about, the fact that this is a long season….Favre just looks apathetic. i know that he is not, but it seems that he is almost coming into the game without confidence in his wides. please continue to encourage and bring proper perspective to the team. we may have lost the first two, but its only the first two. last years greatness and devastating loss must be put behind and we must more on. good luck, Coach, im rooting for ya.
    God bless

Coach do something about the stupid penalties I’m tired of seeing false starts or holding on the o-line. You need to start benching players if they commit a lot of dumb penalties. Seems like every game I watch for the vikings they commit dumb penalties it just makes me want to smash the tv.

Let me tell you this Brad, im a big fan of the Vikings.
I love them but since You have lost Sidney rice i thank you all should
Sign Vincent Jackson and Have him as your main man. And then Keep Sidney rice and Let go of someone thats not usable. Can’t no Defence stop A.p. Brett Favre. Sidney rice, Percey Harvin and Vincent Jackson. Jus sing the guy and You should be able to win the champion ship.
And by the way get ur Cornerbacks and your Free Safteys together cuz they need it.
The vikings problem is We need vincent jackson and Sidney rice
and we need to get our Secondary together and make them Real big threats like the Jets defence.

we really need at least one more reciever why not try for randy moss or even bring back jevon walker. It seems our defensive front could be alot more aggressive it just seem up till the first turn over there emotion was not like it was last year they were so aggressive whats changed. I am a huge vikings fan just hope we turn it around soon. hopefully there recievers can step it up this week end. thanks jason

    Coach:
    - Trade Bernard Berrian for Vincent Jackson. San Diego need a WR and we need a dominate receiver with size who can consistently help the passing game or draw some defense in coverage. That’s good for both team now. Offensively, with all small WR’s, we need more quick and short pass to RB’s, FB’s, TE’s, WR’s to make defense stay in check. That is the best in West coast offense.

    - Consider Albert Young in punt return; he takes good care the ball and is the best guy for now.

    - Our DB’s make all QB’s look so great. We need a lot more aggressive play to stay up with challenge against great teams. Surely tackles will not enough against the top notch QB in the NFL. I think they are all talented players, too conservative against the pass will not help the front line defense.

The calling plays for Adrian and Harvin in the game seem to close for player to recover or think after a big play/

  24. By Super Bowl Dreamin on Sep 21, 2010 | Reply

Coach – Here is your success strategy. Vicent Jackson and Sydney Rice go long – Percy Harvin, Carmillo and Visanthe Shianco across the middle. Unstoppable and the potential to get you to 12 and 4. Now if we could just get the offensive line to open up a hole big enough for Peterson to go through to gain 1 yard and a win against Miami we could say we could contend for a Super Bowl. After 50 f’n years you would think this fanchise could have one one Super Bowl.

DEAR COACH CHILDRESS, WE ALL KNOW THAT THE ABSENCE OF A PASSING GAME IS WHAT IS AILING THE VIKINGS AT THIS TIME. GIVEN THE FACT THAT ONE ASPECT OF THE VIKINGS OFFENCE HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE EXPLOSIVENESS OF A DEEP THREAT. IT’S UNFORTUNATE THAT SIDNEY RICE IS STILL RECOVERING FROM HIP SURGERY AND HE WILL STILL NEED TIME TO REHABILITATE THAT SURGICAL HIP BEFORE HE EVEN PRACTICES. AND NOW PERCY HARVIN IS BRUISED. GRANTED THE VIKINGS PICKED UP CAMARILLO IN A TRADE AND ALTHOUGH HE SHOWS ALOT OF PROMISE AS HE IS REMINISCENT OF A WES WELKER WHO WAS ALSO ACQUIRED BY THE PATRIOTS FROM THE VERY SAME ORGANIZATION AS CAMARILLO.AND SINCE THE VIKINGS TRADED THE OTHER WIDE RECIEVER (ALREADY FORGOT HIS NAME-OOPS!) WITH THE DIFFICULTIES THE RECIEVING CORPS OF THE VIKINGS AND THE TRADES AND WAIVERS THAT TOOK PLACE IN ORDER TO MEET THE REQUIRED 53 MAN ROSTER, I’D SAY THAT THERE IS A PLAYER OF SPECIAL INTEREST WAITING IN THE WINGS OF AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE PRESENTED AND THAT YOU AND YOUR COACHING STAFF ARE JUST BIDING YOUR TIME UNTIL HE BECOMES AVAILABLE WITHIN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS. AND BEING AWARE OF HIS CAPABILITIES: AGILITY, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, ETC, NOT TO MENTION ALL OF THE REQUIREMENTS A TEAM LOOKS FOR IN SAID POSITION. WE BOTH KNOW OF SUCH A PLAYER AND IF THE VIKINGS CAN BEAT THE LIONS, UPON ACQUIRING THIS PLAYER OF INTEREST IM SURE THAT WITH DILIGENCE OF THE GYM AND PLAYS MANNUAL, HE DEFINATELY WILL BE READY TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM JUST IN TIME TO MEET THE PACKERS. EVEN IF IT’S JUST A FEW SERIES. HE IS THE MISSING LINK!! WOULD YOU BE IN AGREEMENT? I SURELY CANNOT WAIT FOR HIS ARRIVAL AND I’M SURE THE FANS WILL WELCOME HIM WITH OPEN ARMS ONCE THEY’VE SEEN HOW HE PLAYS. I SAY HE’S BEEN BORN TO PLAY THIS GAME AND THE PAST FOUR YEARS FOR HIM HAS BEEN HIS GROOMING YEARS. HE IS MOST DEFINATELY PRIMED FOR THE NFL. NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH “PRIMETIME” OF COURSE. BUT, I’K SURE THAT ONCE HE ARRIVES AND SHOWS HIS STUFF, THEY’LL ALL BE CALLING HIM, “SHOWTIME”!!!!! GOOD LUCK

Coach, put the brain trust into high gear and man-up. This team has potential, but is being held back by lethargic play calling on offense; particularly in the red zone. Open it up, be creative and not so predictable, play more screens, take what the opposition gives you.

I’ll bet you watched the Saints game last night right?, get a clue from Payton, they played the screen game to near perfection…

    Man up ya’ll!

Why is it that on the first drive of a important game you decide to go for it on 4th and goal. Do you realize that if you had taken the feild goali n the first quarter we would have only needed a field goal to win the game instead of pounding Peterson in there. This going for it on 4th down should only be used to stay in winable games in the 4th quarter

Coach Childress, would it hurt to try putting in receivers in the Number 1 & 2 spots that have better completion ratios? Why can’t we get the taller receivers with talent? That’s what most teams strive for.

  41. By Bob on Sep 21, 2010 | Reply

Chilly I don’t mind you going for it on 4th and 1 just make sure you atleast put harvin in the backfield with ap and give them the ball. The thing I don’t agree when you go on 4th and one is just running up the gut. Maybe put gerhart, young, and ap in there and smash the ball somewhere else besides the middle when it is plugged up already with defenders waiting. We can’t just sit here and wait for rice to come back, we don’t know if he can be the same player he is not just going to instantly go back to last years production. I hope we get vj and sign him to couple years line him up with rice and we would have a prolific tandem. Try lining up more tight ends on the receiving spot. The only athletic fit tight end on this roster is shank all our other tight ends are fat and slow. Kleinsasser fell down after he caught the ball against the dolphins nobody even touched him and he fell like a fat dingleberry. Can you shape up the tight ends and make them fit so they can atleast run and catch.

  44. By Bruce on Sep 21, 2010 | Reply

Coach Childress, all the experts on the NFL Network say you are running Peterson on the WRONG side and he doesn’t get as many yards. Can you fix that by calling the right side (which I think is him running to the left) Seems to make sense to me, if het gets twice as many yard per carry going up one side versus the other, then have him run up that side.

Hi from Mexico!!! The last two season the team had a great spirit in the field, even during the Saints game they looked highly motivated. Last game something happened to the guys, in their faces looked a little afraid. Something happens in the locker room ? Anyway I’m sure you’re a great motivator that can bring back the winning spirit to the team. And if they work hard they can bring back the good luck and stop the bad luck.
Please tell the Vikings that there are fans in Mexico that support them.

  47. By floyd scholz on Sep 21, 2010 | Reply

Why dont you do something, anything about the vikes wide receiver core? Waiting for chemistry will create nothing but loses. No hands Berrian shouldn’t even be on the team. Brett doesn’t trust him to make the catch needed to keep the drive going, you can see that from my living room. Why not go get some more players?

Floyd, who should the Vikes go get? Is V Jackson worth sacrificing the teams future for? Believe it or not, every team would like to go to the Superbowl every year, but not many expect to. I think the Vikes expected to during mini camp and such, but with the injuries I think they are back to being hopeful. Is V Jackson enough to get them a ring this year with the roster they have? Maybe, but its not a lock by any means. The OL is a concern, and the DB play remains iffy. Also, this is probably Favres last year. How good of a WR was Rice before arrived? WRs are only as good as the QB that is throwing to them.

  53. By Vikings Fan 4 Ever on Sep 21, 2010 | Reply

Why not plug-in Joe Webb as a receiver. He has too much athletic talent to be sitting on the sidelines. And he plays with a lot of heart. What’s to lose??

We still need a deep threat. It’s superbowl or bust this year. I’ve heard rumors about Randy Moss. I’m sure Favre would love throwing his way. But Vincent Jackson is probably our best bet.

    GO VIKES!!!!

  54. By Woodboat on Sep 21, 2010 | Reply

Webb ran off big yards because he was playing QB, looking downfield for receivers, against defenses populated by guys that are on the couch watching the games right now. If he was to run the wildcat, he would get stuffed. by the 9 guys on the line of scrimmage. If he was put out wide as a receiver, would he run better routes than Harvin or be able to catch better than Berrian? Probably not. Why don’t we as fans let him be a QB prospect.

“Vincent Jackson played college football at the University of Northern Colorado. It was one of the few colleges that recruited Jackson out of high school. One of the few true freshman ever to play for the University of Northern Colorado, Vincent earned All American Honors as a punt returner, scoring the first time he ever touched a ball on a punt return against Adams State College (CO). He rewrote the record books on the way to becoming Northern Colorado’s all-time leader in receptions, receiving yards (game & season), KR yards, PR yards, receiving touchdowns. His senior season was highlighted by a 13-catch 249-yard, 3-touchdown effort against Florida Atlantic.” (Wikipedia Source)….. Wow, this team needs a good punt returner who won’t take his eyes off the ball and it needs a good receiver. So what do you think Brad?

Give a D something to freeze on or that extra second for an extra yard. We are plain at offense with a world of talent. Joe Webb from inside the 5-10 red zone. Give the D a reason to not focus on the single backfield. Use the talent on the sideline to call plays for and not just a play for adrian to the left or shank down the middle. Creative times called for right now when the motor that drives the offense, Sydney. Not bret is sidelined. Don’t reinvent the wheel here, just help it turn. Thanks….

Coach. Wondering when you will find a way to use Webb? We all know he is awesome in space, and was drafted as an athlete. Maybe QB in 3rd downs – pass or run, or in a reverse, or running behind Peterson and G (new guy)
    Thanks

1 – running game is great
2 – defense use to be great, now is lacking. By a few minutes into the 3rd, miami had 113 rushing yards. Last year that would not have happened.
3 – wr’s need to catch the ball. Unfortunately vincent jackson can not help us. He has to serve 3 game suspension & then 3 more for not signing contract. Rice will be back by then. We need help NOW!!
4 – our o-line did great for AP to get through, but lets protect Brett.

actually vjax would be eligiable to play in week 5 for the vikings if signed by tomorrow afternoon by the vikings…Immediate help? nI would look at Javon Walker and using webb…We have what we have and childress for some reason feels thats good enough, just like pay Tavarius to sit on the bench and not going after a QB in a draft or in a trade. Tavarius will never be a #1 in this league and if we dont get to the promise land this year we wont be seeing it until we get a QB again.

    Brad,

If you love the Vikings and the fans, please resign. When you went for the early 4th down, you not only gave up the 3 points, but it deflated the players, and set the tone for the whole game.

The players are just not rebbed up. It is your job to do that. The players are not robots, they are human beings!! Please resign!!!!

  78. By bestfront4 on Sep 21, 2010 | Reply

Sure, Vincient Jackson would be great. (probably even more than that) But what we really need is a sure-handed, speedy receiver .(because that’s what we lack w/out sidney). My question to chilli; is Payne or walker in option at whiteout and why is running the ball our second option? Lastly, why don’t we run more plays with both Harvin and Peterson both in the backfield?

  79. By Troy on Sep 21, 2010 | Reply

    Coach,

Seriously the offensive line and receivers look good? Are you watching the same game the rest of the world is! Our tackles have not be able to block speed rushers last year and now again this year. Brett is running for his life. We have receivers who can’t catch except Percy.

I have thought this for a long time but it obvious you think your smarter than you are. Their is no flow to the game with the play calling, no open recievers down field. I am tired of watching so many other teams have receivers open. Either you not doing your job or the receivers are not doing theirs. Which is it?

For God sakes act like you care.

I have been a Viking Fan since I was 8 years old, but mark my words if you don’t turn this around I will not watch another Viking game as long as your the coach.

coach childress, with this likely being brett favres last year i am begging you to trade tavaris jackson. if tavaris is as good as you say maybe we can get a top flight reciever for him(ha ha). if you think things are tough this season just wait until tavaris is the starting qb next year. have you lost your mind or are you just plain stupid. getting rid of rosenfeld and keeping tavaris is the dumbest move youve made yet. if anything happens to brett we will not win 1 game.

P.S. Coach please trade me to another team I am no good and you know this…I wish you could admit when your project backfired on you. Do the vikings a favor get some WR(s) NOW! and next year get a QB because if you are relying on me making plays you are mistaken….Sure Brett throws picks sure he makes some bad decisions but I am sure all Viking fans remember how I play….I am sick of the talk of pulling Brett and putting me in are all the fans high? You think we stink now (when all we need is someone for Brett to throw the ball to) put me in and we will really suck (we will need a QB and WR(s) than). Coach please get some dang receivers already you cant be that dumb unless you are trying to get Favre to fail in which case I think when you get Fired you should take me to the unfortuanate team that hires you and make me the starting QB there…

Do the vikings a favor Chilly Willy, go get Javon Walker right now so he can start in next weeks game and sign me so that I can get familar with the playbook and help us get a win against dallas week 5.

The negative thing about coming to Minnesota would be the coach not knowing WTF he is doing…Admint when your wrong, and make it right. Management has said they were all in this year….If this is all in man I grew up loving the wrong team…lol

    Chilly,

Why did you go for it on 4th and 2 on the first drive? Miami is a great defense and running team 3 points is crucial at the start of the game. They stop you on 4th down gain huge momentum. They use it to score their only offensive touchdown of the game. Also if you had kicked the field goal we would not have needed a touchdown late to win we could have simply kicked the fg and won the game. Also don’t ever throw the ball when your backed up to the endzone…. especially when you have the diesel in your backfield and seem to be having protection issues. Those 2 coaching decisions alone totally change that game.

Hey coach, i see alot of these posts blowing up in your face, i understand that some of these ignorant people have know idea about football and just want to curse at you for studpid reasons. But i actually have a footbal question. When you run in the “I” formation, usually a heavy set with a wide out out wide, does favre have the option to audible the O-line to block weak side instead of strong side even if the play was to run strong side? Because it seems alot of the time they stack up on the strong side as a defense, which makes sense, but we go ahead and run into it anyways. It seems as if weak side would be a better options. Whats the football analysis of that situation? Why not run weak side i guess is my question if they stack heavy on strong side. Thanks coach, its not panic time, 14 games left. Keep it up.

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR CHILDRESS AND WILF. TRADE FOR VINCENT JACKSON OR RANDY MOSS OR AT LEAST RESIGN J. WALKER. if the Vikes can sign V. Jackson to a 1 year deal, then only give up a 2nd round pick. If the Vikes can afford to sign him to a 2-3 year deal then possibly give up an additional later round draft pick if needed. GIVE FAVRE THE OFFENSIVE WEAPONS HE NEEDS WHILE YOU CAN. FAVRE IS NOT GOING TO BE PLAYING NEXT SEASON. next season the Vikes will need to find another QB. Are the coaches and owners actually serious. with Harvin out, you have 3 WR’s. the loss of Chester Taylor also hurts the Vikes. Vikes also will need the $ to resign Rice and other key players next season. GET ANOTHER OFFENSIVE LINEMAN THAT CAN BLOCK. Are you kidding me, 2 Viking offensive linemen can’t stop one Dolphin defensive player from getting to Favre and stripping the ball in the end zone causing a TD for the Dolphins? PATHETIC. GIVE FAVRE A 6’5″ 200 LB. WR THAT HAS GOOD HANDS AND CAN JUMP UP AND CATCH THE FOOTBALL AND GET AN OFFENSIVE LINEMAN THAT CAN BLOCK AND PROTECT THE QB OR AT LEAST TRY TO GET THE OFFENSIVE LINE TO IMPROVE BEFORE THE NEXT GAME.

  115. By Lance on Sep 21, 2010 | Reply

Uhhhh….Hank Baskett? Our punter is gonna get really tired. Maybe I should be more optimistic because Favre has made a career out of making low profile recievers into pro bowlers. If ol’ Hank can catch and contest a ball when it is thrown his way, then maybe ol’ Hank is a diamond in the rough. The guy is 6-4 so he’s got that going for him, which is nice.

I know that coach Chilly probably isn’t going to read our pleas (at least not on the the comment section of a blog) but in any case I still think our best bet is RANDY MOSS! Favre wanted him in the past, Moss stated before that he wants to retire as a Viking and not to mention the guy is a beast WR! He did wonders for us before and to get him back we could give the Pats some draft picks coupled with a DL or something respectable.
I could just see it now, Favre throwing a deep pass that nobody else could get but a nice tall WR like MOSS. And then a couple weeks later, Rice is back in the picture and Defense wouldn’t know what hit em!

GET MOSS BACK IN MINNESOTA!!! PLEASE!!!

During the game versus the Dolphins, after gaining a first down, you came back with a quick dive play several times. I don’t remember this approach gaining more than a yard or two at most and it really seemed like a wasted play. In one instance, this quick play was run in the red zone where every down is extremely important. What was the objective and why keep doing the same thing when it doesn’t get positive results?

I have been a Vikings fan for over 30 yrs. now. I’ve seen alot of the highs/lows in that length of time. I have never been so frustrated as in this year already! What has happened to the Vikings?????? There is no fire in them. They are not aggressive like last year. The O-line is mediocre at best. TOOO SLOOW and not protecting the QB and giving him time to throw. Your WR corps NEEDS HELP NOW!!!!!!!!!!! You cannot sit in the bushes on this or the Vikings will not be able to come back in any game. You have placed all your eggs in your basket on Rice and never took into account what would happen if he wasnt there. Why not doing some “mixing” of calls in order to confuse the other teams defense? Get something “new” into your system cause all teams know just about everything that is happening and shut us down. You can’t run AP into the ground and expect him to play the whole game either. I dont blame Brett for trying to “make something happen” out of nothing. The receiving corps we have now IS NOT ACCEPTIBLE!!!! You need to find a couple of good (tall) WR to at least give Brett a chance at getting it down the field Coach. The managers /owners need to dig down deep in their pockets and start thinking smart and pulling in some “quality” WR’s or Coach needs to start playing Camillaro/Payne and giving them some time also. Get Javon Walker back and Sign VJACK as soon as you can or nothing will change. We will continue to have a losing season and become the joke of the whole NFL.

I have the utmost respect for Brett and have for many years. His heart & mind is not in the game this season and his performance shows it. I know you have to be thinking about pulling him out if he doesn’t retire first. WHAT ABOUT JACKSON? He took the team to the playoffs before Favre joined and for the last year has been coached by Favre so I know he would do great. Don’t put a rookie in their! Quarterback is a position that’s earned and Jackson has earned it.

    Sincerely,
Northern Indiana Vikings Fan since 1978.

Allison clark, Jackson never took the team to the playoffs. He did however cost them a playoff win, but never took them there. It was gus frerotte who took them there. the vikings last 3 games that season were against teams who AP destroyed, when Gus went down.

Why didnt Sidney Rice have surgery sooner so he would have been healthy for week1?Why did you go into the season so thin at WR.You have no number one go to guy at WR with Rice out.The biggest mistake you made in your tenure as viking coach is your belief that Tavaris Jackson can play QB in the NFL.Simply put Jackson is awful. He cant read the defence and his accuracy is terrible.Sage out played him by a large margin this pre season and yet you trade Sage to the Giants why?

  152. By ORVikingFan on Sep 22, 2010 | Reply

Jackson???Dont play Jackson he is a waste of a roster spot…What you should of done was got a receiver…Well you passed on VJAX (DUMB) you havent brought JWalker back (dumb) and you get a no namer with no more that 500yrds a season (DUMB)…Coach when are you going to resign so we can have someone with a brain in your position?

  153. By Jake on Sep 22, 2010 | Reply

All you childress haters are idiots. Look at the facts. Every year since he has been here are record has gotten better and better. I know we are 0-2 this year, but a couple plays the other way and we would be 2-0. Wake up to the facts people, pull your pessimistic heads out of your butts and give the man some credit. I have been a vikings fan for 26 years and trust me, we have seen a lot worse!

  154. By ORVikingFan on Sep 22, 2010 | Reply

Jake you realated to childress? Ive been a viking fan for 24 yrs since I was 9 and the record got better because it wasnt easy to get worse…for godsake we had tice as the head coach b4. Those couple plays you talked about…who made those calls? who you think called those plays? CHILDRESS! He is a worthless pile, but you go ahead and blame Favre, the Defense or whoever you want to blame. Last year we won because Favre called the plays…This year he is doing it Childress way and we are 0-2. Not a CHILDRESS hater but I am a VIKING LOVER and I KNOW WHEN THE TRASH HAS SPOILED. Childress needs to go and take that lame duck TJOKE with him.

  155. By ORVikingFan on Sep 22, 2010 | Reply

FACT OF THE MATTER IS….IF FAVRE DIDNT COME TO THE VIKINGS LAST YEAR CHILDRESS WOULD OF BEEN FIRED! So I guess thats how we can blame Favre….if he never came we may have had a good coach this year.

If childress could man up and get us some receivers we could win some games…I will never give up hope even if we went 0-16 but I am really questioning the leader of this team…CHILDRESS need to lead and adjust to help this team win…If they lose it falls on his shoulders.

I think the vikings can still go 10-6 but if we lose against the lions and go 0-3 into the bye week we are in trouble.

jake your an idiot childress is the worse coach in the nfl and,the owners are not winners either cuz if they were they would have known that this year prob is the last year the vikes had a chance to make it to the super bowl for awhile there will be alot of guy gone after this year with contracts ending after this season.A good owner and coach would have traded for a guy like v jack and done whatever to win this season vikes wont have the money to bring back all the guys who s contracts will be over after this season. So everyone should be in a panic if we want to see the vikes go to a super bowl in the near future come on. Oh ya all u idiots hatin on farve its not his fault he only has a tight end to throw to and a running back pick it up WR or its goona be be a long year. One more thing all u moron s that think t jack would help this team ur stupid he is one of the worse QB s in the NFL. Hey maybe there s a reason the owners dont care about winnin maybe they are tryin to move tha team makes ya wonder whats goin on we got a good team yet they do nothin to improve where they are hurtin WR what do ya think

MATT JONES, WR Univ.of Arkansas. He played well in Jax and just now had an alright preseason with the Bengals. Gifted with blazing speed, height and good hands. Please vikings go after this guy!!! He’s better than Walker and Basket put together. We could pick him up cheap and he’d be willing to prove Cincy wrong for dropping him!!! Man, the staff of the vikings makes how much $$$ doing their job but they keep making questionable pick-ups with players that are past their prime. Youth, Matt Jones. We have a lot of good pieces in place, a well balanced defense, CB that will get healthy. We clearly need a better set of WR, if the fans aren’t excited by our group then the defensive coordinators are. We are build to win this year, not next. We must solve the WR issue, whether off waivers or through a trade. Perhaps some teams are deep with WR but short of defense, we could trade some of the depth. If not, we will need the D to step up and win some games, turn overs are a must! We should rotate our D in frequently, blitzing often and looking to wear down the o-line. It is time to show some pride Vikings (both players and coaches) and get mad, get tough, play smash mouth, win this weekend

    Hank Basket hasnt proven himself ANYWHERE up til now. What motivation drove Minnesota to pick him up. Its not like this is our answer to the promise land! His stats for his career are;
    Receptions 73
    Receiving yards 1,057
    Receiving average 14.5
    Receiving TDs 6

How often we armchair coahes sit back and try to call the shots and are acytually right when we question the logic behind the real coaches picks. When we picked up Walker I laughed and all my buddies were like so happy that we grabbed him. Ummmm, we let him go a VERY short time later. Why even pick him up in the first place. MATT JONES. And please someone explain why RICE waited so long for the surgery???? I love the Vikes, I try to keep faith. I want to like Brad but I really belive its time to go. Maybe Brian Billick could turn our great team around the way he did with Balt. MATT JONES PLEASE CALL MINNESOTA. CALL US AND ASK TO COME HERE. Than again we are talking bout childress making a smart decision….TJOKE anyone….what a waste…we shoulda kept Sage after that preseason we could of traded him for a WR

  166. By Brian on Sep 22, 2010 | Reply

I agree!! SAGE couldve been trade bait. TJOKE wasnt even on any teams radar when we drafted him!!! Great decision on our part. This is a coaching and front office thing and they need to go. New blood new ideas and maybe we can turn it around. Also Id be looking to get Webb into the offense a heck of a lot more somehow!

  171. By Brad on Sep 22, 2010 | Reply

Coach Childress, I am very confident in this vikings team first of all. I have one question. Since we are hurting literally as a team with all the injuries would it be possible to use what they call in the NFL the wildcat where i am from it is the wild hog. I am from Arkansas and i actually went to high school with Darren McFadden. When Arkansas used the wild hog with Darren and Felix it worked well. In saying that I could see it being very productive with Joe Webb, Adrian, and Percy providing they are healthy of course. I am not a offensive coach just a 25 year old that would love to see the vikings in the Superbowl. Thanks for listening I will be up in the metrodome for the Dallas game rooting the team on to a victory.

lets see…..jackson gets $ 3,000,000.00 to hold a clipboard this year. The best athlete on the team Webb won’t even see a play this year as 3rd string QB. And they gave CHILLY an extension last year??? Is that like a player contract, not guaranteed I hope!!! Go out and get Cowher, Gruden, Billick or any body but this MORON. we would have won the superbowl with any other coach at the helm. Mike Tice or Les Steckle could have done a beyyer job!!!

  173. By Coach on Sep 22, 2010 | Reply

Coach do you need people to remind you to make this offense more complex and not preseason play calling oh yeah chilly you don’t have to cover your mouth with the playbook they know what you’re going to run. I do appreciate you using peterson but you need to work on the air attack no rice doesn’t mean everyone lays down someones gotta step out or you send them packing.

You guys think it’s so easy just to go out there and pick up a player like buying milk from a grocery store. It’s not like they have all the money in the world to buy whoever they want. There is so much more to it than that. I am sure if the vikings could have pick up vincent jackson they would have, but the chargers weren’t having it from anybody. It’s not like madden where you can pick and choose who you want by a push of a button. And as far as you being real men, if you are so good, why aren’t you coaching with the vikes? Wake up! “men”

Javon and Matt cant be asking for too much money…Give them a guarantee with bonus when they hit goals needed by the team to help win…Or just go get the guys that cant even catch on onside kick when it hits him right in the hands…Either way I suppose if the vikings lose this year you should be FIRED! Why does the play calling on the offensive side, seem as bad through the first 2 games as last years. Very little play action, especially at the goal line to freeze the opposing D, Miami game. Passing game is absolutely pathetic. You can only run A.P for so long. You now have a possession receiver, Greg Camarillo, with good hands and barely use him. look how the Patriots use Welker. It also looks like loosing Chester Taylor is really hurting. A lot more than expected. You can’t blame the D. They have played rather well the first 2 games. Once again the Offense comes to the front of the problem. Everyone new of the problems during training camp and nothing was done . Changes need to made and soon, or the Vikings will be looking up from the bottom.

    Hi coach,

Have you guys eliminated a pitchout to the right in favor of the stretch? Haven’t seen very midline plays either. The pump and handoff looked effective on the part of the vikings and also the saints on week 1. Looks like the off guard and off tackle runs to the right aren’t very effective. I know you guys keep charts of the plays and yards gained. Just seems to be wishfull to keep running the stretch to the right. Keep up the good work. A Vikings Fan.

My question is simple: Why did we wait on seeking receivers? Why when we knew Rice would not be ready, we trade Reynaud and we did nothing to improve our WR status, until after game two? WHY does this Org continue to put so much stock in that glass of water, Bernard Berrian? He lacks size and heart and apparently speed too… I know I have not seen it. Where is the separation…. Shiancoe is a decent to good tight end, but HE should not be our leading receiver…. And of the choices come and gone, how do we end up with Hank Baskett as our answer? This is the offnse of 2006 all over again. Running capably and passing without receivers…. Billy Mcmullin, Bethel Johnson, Bobby Wade all over again…. not gonna be able to sneak up on anyone in the NFL.

  193. By vlad19 on Sep 24, 2010 | Reply

Also, how is it Joe Dugan keeps making this squad as a “blocking fullback/TE” and he can’t block. The theory that, “They will never suspect him” when we need a 7 yd swing pass out of run formation, is not a healthy reason to keep a guy that Lbackers DESTROY and collapse the gap or the pocket. It is painful watching his inadequacies, then jumping up and clapping his hands in lonely disappointment…. It is like watching Troy Williamson, after the long pass bounces off his head, and he POUNDS the ground in disgust… it wasn’t the ground’s fault! But Joe Dugan??? Yep, HIS bad football is his fault. There is better talent out there – there MUST be, or Div I is getting worse and worse.

I dont now why you have not use joe webb as a reciever with all the injurys to the wide receiver, did he catch ball for 2000 yards in college I sure he would love to play and even if you put him out as a decoy he would be better then the one you use.i also dont know why you kept bernard bernard he is a twerrible reciver you should of got ride of him .Next thing you need to do a better job in the draft three out of six is not go use of your skills wake up.Last if you really want a quarter back for the future in the last draft all quarterback have stated this year and did well Mcoy was a no brainer.I put mu stuff away because you guys have little chance of do anything with no reciver even vick would have a problem with the reciever you have.
