Vikings Stagnate On Offense, Trail 7-0 At Half

Posted by cjsiewert on September 19, 2010 – 12:32 pm

Despite not capitalizing on a pair of scoring opportunities, the Vikings went into the locker room trailing the Dolphins by only 7 points. QB Brett Favre has completed 13 of 19 attempts for 125 yards. WR Percy Harvin has been Favre’s favorite target in the 1st half, hauling in 5 receptions (targeted 7 times) for 32 yards.

The 1st scoring opportunity came on the Vikings 1st drive of the game where it came to a halt on a failed 4th-and-1 attempt. Miami used that momentum to put together a 9-play 73-yard drive that resulted in a 5-yard TD reception from QB Chad Henne to WR Brian Hartline.

The 2nd failed scoring opportunity for the Purple came on a bobbled reception by Harvin at the Dolphins 1-yard line that was eventually intercepted by CB Vontae Davis. The Vikings defense missed an opportunity to stop the Dolphins deep in their own territory but RB Ronnie Brown bolted down the middle of the field on the 1st play of the series to quiet the Mall of America Field crowd.

Vikings RB Adrian Peterson put up big 1st half numbers on the ground with 12 attempts for 61 yards.

Pointing the finger at Childress for not having played starters in the preseason. Our guys look beaten already. Where is that attitude from last season?

Definitely not the vikings of last year……disappointing. We’re in trouble if we can’t stop a team like the Dolphins from scoring.

Brett Favre had a phenomenal career with the Packers, but it is time for him to retire. When will he and, more importantly, the Vikings’ management come to grips with that fact?

Pat – I’ve been trying to make posts in live chat all day, I am being denied too. I even changed my UserName 26+ times, with a new letter of the alphabet every time and every post got denied. It’s as if Mike is screening posts and keeping the regulars handcuffed so that we can’t add to an otherwise dull conversation.

I do not blame Favre for our receivers not getting free. I do not blame Favre for our lack of blocking, lack of opening holes for Adrianh, lack of pressure on Dolphins QB

I blame Favre for throwing to the receivers who CANT get open. I blame Peterson for being about the only guy out there who wants to win. I say put Jackson in at center. He did better 2 years ago with worse players supporting him against tougher defenses than this.

Okay, then I don’t know what’s going on for you in the Live Chat, maybe Mike just doesn’t want to hear from me.

practice with highschool kids cool when your 40, but not when you’re the QB for the Vikings. not one ball thrown in stride today, work after school, please, to be great you have to work.

Looking more like a bust year. Sounds like the management are playing down fans’ expectations of a Super Bowl berth. It doesn’t look like a new stadium is going to happen. Perhaps a possible Super Bowl win can only happen as the LA Vikings.

Maybe the high school kids Farve was playing catch with would do better.
