I gave Favre the benefit of the doubt last week OldSchool. This week there is no excuse. Giving up 3 interceptions and a fumble in the endzone? AT HOME?? Favre officially lost this game single handedly, unless we get one last miracle in this final drive.

    I am frankly, disgusted.

Once again, this team has based its future upon a singular player, rather than the strength of its team.

Why does the front office believe that Favre shall once again make the team that much better?

Obviously, after the lack of a full preseason, and lack of timing, said signing does not.

I would rather the team fail to make the post season as a team, than rely solely upon Favre to make the post season.

Ok so we decide to go for it in right away in the fourth quarter instead of letting longwell kick for three. had he made it all we would have needed in the end was a field goal instead of a touchdown. blame whoever you want, but it was a bad decision to not try for the feild goal in the 1st. Also, quit blaming farve, it would be no different with travaris in there. almost nobody wanted travaris after the preseason, now you are all begging for him? quit jumping on different bandwagons please? we have only lost two, we still have chances. we just need the whole team to come out ready to play for the whole game not just the 2nd half.

favre doesn’t look like he is into the game he is forced into playing I don’t see his head there with the team. Chilly needs to go too many penalties he doesn’t prepare this team. The only positive was peterson had heck of the day but the last play they could of spread it out more. It took forever to get this offense in rhythm we had lucky breaks. Other than that another disgusting loss the vikings will probably miss the playoffs this year the schedule doesn’t look to get any easier the coaching doesn’t seem to get any smarter so that’s that. It doesn’t look opportunistic the running game is great the passing is off shank dropped couple crucial ones. What a sickening loss I was waiting all week for a win now its another week of this stupid loss again. Wilf step in now and fire chilly this is starting to look like a repeated choked season. I’m very disappointed in favre he needs a go to receiver bad.

  82. By PurplePeopleEater on Sep 19, 2010 | Reply

Favre threw more than 2 bad throws, but 2 of his bad throws got intercepted. A half decent throw got bounced around and then intercepted. A bunch of other throws hit defenders rather than the receiver who had a defender glued to his face.

Bottom line is that fans were SCREAMING to get Jackson off the field after 2 losses in 2008, when he only threw 1 INT alongside 1 TD in 2 losses. The offense actually scored MORE points in those 2 games than Brett’s offense in 2010 did in either game. The defense simply wasn’t as good as it is now. And remember, Jackson only had Berrian to throw to. Rice hadn’t appeared yet, Harvin was still in college and AP was purely a running back.

SO JACKSON IS THE BETTER QB. Give himn a chance, and see what happens.

    Yes, Bruce, he gives 100%.

But his 100% no longer equals 100% of what other players can give.

He should have retired, permanently, when he left the Packers.

I had no faith within him last year.

I certainly have no faith within him this year.

Last year, would he have run, even for a couple of yards, instead of the attempted pass, and ensuing interception, we would have at least had a chance to go to the Superbowl.

He has already made more poor decisions this year than all of last.

I admire him, as a player, and because of his history.

    But history is just that.

It is time for him to move on, and allow this team to stand, or fall, upon its own.

Agrred Bruce. Berrian dropped to Receiver #3 last year, and now because Percy is better in the slot he is back at #1. For SOME reason Lewis is still on the team even though he drops as many as he catches. I thought he was a horrible decision to keep over other players who weren’t on the team last year. And the ONLY reason they kept Lewis was because he made the play of the year last year against SF. What did he do last year? Exactly, NOTHING! He is only here because he got lucky once, and so we now have a much weaker receiving corps than we could have because the coaches think that luck is a skill.

Serious mistakes by the coaching staff lost this game for the Vikes starting with the first series when they went for it on 4th down instead of taking an early 3 – 0 lead to keep the fans in the game! The other key mistake was the goal line hand off to AP when a play action roll out to Shaincoe would have put the Vikings up 17 – 14. Miami played the run all the way and AP had no chance – play action would have totally worked in that situation.

based on the team roster after last season it was clear that this year was the year to go full out at getting to the sb.. this year was the year when you load up on some high end players and go for it…i still cannot believe the players management kept, led go and not added any significant impact players…coupled with bad play calling and childress …it takes special talent to mess up a team like the vikings from last year to this year..management has made pathetic decisions and i wonder if the local media ever call them out

    Course….

They could have kept him, and let Favre go, no?

No, I guess not, as Favre was not a FA.

    Wishful thinking.

would anyone really be upset if brett gave back the 20 mil. and retired now?

  117. By moorevikes on Sep 19, 2010 | Reply

we use that 20 mil to entice cowher. is that possible

I would be happy if he were just to “retire”.

    The money is lost anyway.

Lelsie Frazier should be the head coach again dont repeat history and let a defensive coordinator take another team to the superbowl let him take the VIKINGS

i give it up to the dbs this game either they covered real well or henne just wasn’t seeing them

no that would be ok with me if he gave back the $ and went home !!!! works for me…

However, were the money to be recovered, a couple of good cornerbacks couldn’t hurt….

    Or safetys’, for that matter.

I don’t blame Favre at all for this loss or the loss last week. His WR’s are just as responsible for the INT’s as he is. Last week Berrian coughed up a pass that was picked off and this week there were three INT’s that the receivers either didn’t play defense (Berrian twice) and the fluke that hit Harvin in the arm at the goal line. Not having Sidney Rice at the end of the game really hurt the Vikings because they had no receiver who could go up over the d-backs to pull a pass down. The Vikings will rebound next week and get a win at home against the Lions and then go into the bye week. The will be ready for the Jets in week 5 with a couple more weeks of practice to get the timing worked out between Favre and his receivers. IMO the Vikings are 0 – 2 because the coaching staff has not given the team a chance to win.

We could of drafted a good qb in the draft too for the future. It seems like we lost all our heart losing last year

  126. By AK Cobra on Sep 19, 2010 | Reply

As unto the responsibility of the coaching staff, I cannot disagree with you WAVikesFan.

    That said.

I personally hold no more respect for Favre than I did last year.

He can either do it, or he cannot.

Within my own opinion, he cannot.

I hope he proves me wrong.

Brad, we have at least two good QB’s aside from Favre.

He is not this issue, within my own mind.

    Nor that position.

A team cannot win should they allow more points than their offense can attain.

  128. By moorevikes on Sep 19, 2010 | Reply

sure glad we kept all those tightends and cut every receiver over 6ft. good call chilly good call.

  129. By WAVikesFan on Sep 19, 2010 | Reply

I absolutely agree with you brad! Would have been real smart for the Vikings to give up on Favre and T-joke and take a QB in the draft. I was really disappointed when they passed on opportunities to draft Tebow. He would have been a good fit in MN.

  130. By AK Cobra on Sep 19, 2010 | Reply

The QB is not the be-all, end-all of this team, but as I stated, we already have sufficient personnel within this realm.

Tebow, alone, would not make a whit of difference.

    It is a TEAM effort.

    Not a singular player effort.

And Tebow is not as good as everyone seems to think he is.

Being proven within college is a long way away from being proven within the NFL.

Dear Vikes decision-makers: Need a true deep wideout, another humongous offensive lineman, and a Darius Raynaud-type of player. This week let your offensive unit practice 10 times more than your defensive unit. Design one play for Joe Webb. Do something unpredictable. How do you motivate a team with great players to play great as a team?

  132. By AK Cobra on Sep 19, 2010 | Reply

And why do you call Tarvarius T-joke?

I would wager that, given the opportunity and time, he would do as well as any other starting QB within the league, if not better.

Do you think Favre should even collect a check this week? Seems like he is in it for the money

  137. By viking fan for life on Sep 19, 2010 | Reply

He is in it for the money and management is more than willing to part with that money on an old washed up player the Packers wisely kicked to the curb.

I can’t believe how the fans that were so happy to have Brett back just a month or so ago have totally turned on him, & by the sounds, the entire team. This is 2 loses out of 16. I’ll be anxious to see how you all jump back on the bandwagon when they turn things around. I agree there are some things that need to be worked out but I am definatly not writing off the season as a bust after only 2 games. How would you feel if the team came out & said “Since we’ve lost our first 2 games we have no shot so we’re just going to give it up for the year, there’s no sense even playing anymore games since we lost 2!” Give me a break! If you’re truly Vikings fans you back your team when they down (that’s when they really need our support) & you cheer them when they win. The season is just beginning, a lot can happen between now & the Super Bowl. I for one will continue to keep a positive attitude (even if I’m the only one still on the bandwagon) & when the Vikings are on their way to the playoffs & then the Super Bowl, I hope there’s no more room for you to jump on the bandwagon. Go Brett & the rest of the Vikings…..I’ll still be cheering you on!!!!!
