Cook, Griffin Game Time Decision; Harvin Practices

Posted by Mike Wobschall on September 17, 2010 – 1:08 pm

The Vikings and Dolphins have issued their Friday injury reports in advance of Sunday’s game at Mall of America Field and there is good news to report. After missing practice on Thursday, WR Percy Harvin (hip) was back at practice and participated on a limited basis; he is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game.

DT Jimmy Kennedy (knee) and CBs Chris Cook (knee) and Cedric Griffin (knee) are also listed as questionable. Vikings Head Coach Brad Childress said Cook and Griffin would likely be game-time decisions. QB Brett Favre (ankle/back), RB Toby Gerhart (knee), T  Bryant McKinnie (finger) and C John Sullivan (calf) are listed as probable.

For the Dolphins, LB Channing Crowder (groin) and DE  Jared Odrick (ankle) have been ruled out and DE Ikaika Alama-Francis is listed as questionable.

Something to ponder. Everyone talks about Bret and his age. He is out there starting every Sunday and look at others not playing due to them hurting. Time to go Vikes! We can’t fall behind Green Bay another game! IMO

Everyone needs to relax, do not forget that the packers have to play against the afc east and nfc east as well. With that logic I find it hard to believe the packers will win 13 games this season. It will be a tough fight for the division again this year and even if the vikings do not get homefield advantage they are able to win on the road.

THEY NEED TO SIGN A TALL RECEIVER IF THEY WANT TO WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP! BRAD WILL YOU PUSH TO SIGN A TALL RECIEVER BEFORE YOU LOSE HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE IN THE PLAYOFFS!

The Vikes should be primed to win big this Sunday. They will be sporting their ‘old school’ uniforms. Vikings win 38-13 Skol Vikings!!

No rule saying the super bowl doesnt run through the wildcard round… The Packers may end up sucking by the end too… injuries, poor o-line, teams learning to navigate the 3-4 better…. the Lions may be Kingmakers too.

If Harvin can’t go, does that take us down to 3 recievers? That is if you count Berian.

  16. By Chi Town Viking on Sep 18, 2010 | Reply

We are not as bad off as led on by previous comments, although Rick is right. Berian needs to go away. Trade for any one that can catch a ball to any team willing to take him! My 8 year old daughter has better hands than BB. There’s an easy solution to our passing game. Chilly needs to call more pass plays to Percy, Both Gregs(Cam and Lewis), Payne, and Shank if they and Brett are to ever have any rhythm this season. Before we do get in a big hole. Our O-line has been mediocre for the end of last season and everything we have seen thus far this year. This needs to be addressed for the sake of both pass and run game to improve. Don’t get me wrong… I don’t want to abandon the run! On the contrary, I would like to see our 1st round pick get some action with AP. Young is also a good complete running back that needs to be used as Chester was. To the outside and screens. Also in the passing game out of the slot, back field, and why not pull a Flip wildcat? Put Cam and Lewis on one side, AP and young on the other, and Percy in the back field. Tell me that wouldn’t be a defensive night mare for any team in the NFL to try and defend? esp. since no one has ever tried it! No one ever could with their rosters, we easily could with our current roster. Just thinking out side the box! Really though, we simply need to use all of our resources. Not just run AP in the ground and throw to Shank every down until they are both hurt and useless for the rest of the year.

  27. By jimboslice on Sep 18, 2010 | Reply

Hey oldschool, exactly what kind of protein are you drinking in the morning? The Vikes will be fine until we get our injured comrad’s back. In the end we will make our run and either we have homefield advantage or we won’t. It doesn’t matter because we still have a stout D-line and our receivers are better than 90% of the teams out there. Settle down it’s only week 2 and we will get our division title. Then it’s off to the big game in dallas. Go Vikings!!! Take it one game at a time.

  28. By Skol_Vikings on Sep 18, 2010 | Reply

1 receiver has 1 bad game and makes 1 mistake in the early portion of the season and everyone wants his head on a stick. Jeeze uh, Favre threw an interception, why isn’t his head on a stick?

AP, yeah, didnt rush for 200 + yards, Chilly is clearly a bad coach for it too, lets let them both go and rehire Mike Tice.

Berrian had a down year last year, sure, but remember BB is 08? He was our top dog. He’s still got the talent. If its week 4 and he’s still choking, then I can see some flames. But from 1 week? My god… if your all going to Monday morning QB and coach, AT LEAST BE REASONABLE ABOUT IT.

Pick up Vincent Jackson. Take care of Sidney Rice when he comes back with a long term contract. Then cut Bernard Berian, NFL contracts are not guaranteed, so you pay him for the part of the season he plays and use the savings to give Sid the Kid his deal.

i don’t know what the deal is with everyone? that was some funny s@#t oldschool. i understand where you’re coming from. i, too, am a realist. however i tend to wait until it is mathematically impossible for us to get into the playoffs. from there anything can happen. this season just has a different feel to it. management did some things i didn’t agree with, favre seams like he is wishing he stayed away and just retired, chester is gone, ect. the only players i see with any fire in their a@# is ap and the linebackers. can’t win games that way. we went from a team with unfinished business to what looked like to me against the saints, a team going through motions. it all starts at the head coach period.

dolphin2 you are a very lonely person. to think you go to opposing teams site each week to make your dumb!ss remarks kills me. i will say this you are dedicated to being a tool. i hope after we win on sunday you’ll be back to tell us how wrong you were. you probably wont because it would take a man to do that and as we all know you are either a 12 yr old or a sissy.

the headset wearer will not get a tall receiver. he seems to have a napoleonic complex. notice how all receivers 6’3 ‘or taller were cutt durung the preseason. (with the exception of practice squad Brown). He does not want an Air Favre show, so slippery fingers Berrian and little mann Greg lew. is all we will get to see. Pathetic. A whole season with a hall of famer sacrificed over EGO.

Win or lose. I will be back. Now put your braids and go cheer for your team that plays indoors. Who is the sissy? In fact, who uses the word sissy. In your case it’s more like pu–y.

A general comment…….. what is the purpose of holding any press conferences when we the “distant” fans cannot hear any of the questions? My suggestion is that the Viking ownership stop at Best Buy and pick up a couple of el-cheapo mic’s and pass them around during the conferences. If they can’t afford that then just don’t include the press conferences on the Viking web site. When I get a phone call and can’t hear the other party I call it a dropped call and hang up………..seems rather obvious to me!!! Are you looking for a new Media person…………..what’s the salary? Dean Berger, Custer SD.

As long as Childress is coaching this team, we will never play to our full ability. Childress is a joke and when it is all said and done. He will be the reason for the Vikings downfall!!!!!

  44. By Ryan on Sep 18, 2010 | Reply

Childress has a problem flowing this offense it has always been that way I hope our next coach is a veteran offensive coordinator. Every time the vikings play there’s either too many penalties or the offense gets in a rhythm then suddenly it stalls. Chilly needs to manage the game better that’s why nfl calls chilly one of the worst game managers in the nfl along with andy reid. Enough of the negativity if favre wasn’t the qb for this team the vikings offense would be beyond dreadful just watch when favre retires. He doesn’t have the heart and desire to put opponents out and attack. All I have to say is if we don’t make it to the playoffs and advance far get chilly out of here, bevell also needs to go. This team lacks nasty attitude and swag.

We have a great group and with Vincent Jackson will be a team that could go all… the… way!!!!!! It looks like Percy will be more in the mix this year and Sidney Rice will be fresh for the playoffs. More excitement and less Chili please! If the injuries go against us, OS might get what he wants. Our second team D was putting up first team play in the pre-season, so I think we will weather injuries there pretty well this year.

So where is purplenurple, moorevikings, David…you must acknowledge my greatness. You are two games behind the Packers and Bears and the fins will be in first. It will fun to see what you will whine about this week. Were the refs bought off, the fans were not loud enough (oh right, you were at home, where you never lose), or it’s not Bretts fault. You are losers and will always be losers. How is that Favre thing working out for, and I saw on TV, we still have better looking cheerleaders. Go Fins!
