Griffin, Gerhart Among Vikings Inactives

Posted by Ryan Cardinal on September 9, 2010 – 4:59 pm

Here are the Vikings inactives for tonight’s game:

QB Joe Webb (3rd QB), CB Cedric Griffin, CB Chris Cook, RB Toby Gerhart, G Chris DeGeare, DT Jimmy Kennedy, TE Mickey Shuler, and DE Everson Griffen.

Also of note, CB Asher Allen will start at left cornerback, and S Husain Abdullah will start at strong safety.

We’ll try to track down New Orleans’ inactives and will post those when we can.

EDIT – Saints inactives are: Chris Ivory, Chris Reis, Stanley Arnoux, Danny Clark, Zach Strief, Jimmy Graham, Adrian Arrington, and Junior Gallette.

Must win game???? Yes it would be huge to win but still the first game of the season..

ummm….isn’t Winfield starting at left CB? Maybe the term is just too subjective, but I always thought it was viewed from the defense looking at the offense. It would be more understandable if you said he was starting on the strong side….or the blind side…

Cook and Griffin are the only inactives to worry about. The others are 2nd and 3rd stringers that wouldn’t have seen playing time today anyways. Hopefully we have a safety or two who can step in on Dime packages as a 4th CB, because I got a feeling that Brees and Company are going to be chucking the ball all night long.

If you watch any espn pregame I am not sure why the Vikings are even showing up. Sounds like they don’t stand a chance. WOW

    Why is Joe Webb inactive?

Did anybody watch Showtime’s 32 Team NFL comparison? They SUPPOSEDLY went over all 32 teams’ strengths and weaknesses and made their predictions for the year. When they got to the NFC North they didn’t even say a word about the Vikings! Except at the end of it when 2 out of 3 of them chose the Vikes to win the division, so I guess it wasn’t all bad.

We need strong pressure tonight with our front 4! Allen and Edwards around the corners like last game.. They need to create turnovers some how some way and not give any up… This is our year and we need to make a statement tonight!!!! Regardless of media bs.. The media said the cowboys were going to kill us also… SKOL VIKES!!!!!

Cook, Kennedy, The Albino Rhino, and Shuler I figured would be inactive. A little surprising to see DeGeare, Griffin & Webb though. Figured they would keep Webb active as a WR just in case. The way the coaches had been talking, I thought Griffin would be getting some reps tonight as well as DeGeare. Oh well that’s why I am watching it on TV tonight and not there as a coach. GO VIKES!!

I agree w/ Josh that rushing from the ends will be important but pressure up the middle tends to disrupt Brees more than anything else. As a person living in LA I’m forced to see them play every week so I know their weaknesses. SKOL!!!!

Big Kevin had great push up the middle. We can definitely win this game. Go Vikings!

Toby is Gerhart is overrated!!! I was at training camp, and the entire defense could not stand him, he refused to sign autographs for the kids, he did not run well, standing straight up making himself a huge target. Now he is hurt an inactive, way to go Vikes, Chester was well worth the money!!!!

Here we go…Geeez NBC giving the Katrina sob story again!!!! And the Oil Spill! Give me a break, it was 5 years AGO!!!!! And most of the oil is gone. Enough already! I really hope the Vikes win to shut all these idiots in the media up! Headline would read “Superdome held up thru Katrina, but gets pillaged & demolished by the Vikings!” SKOL!!!!!!!!!!!

Third QB is usually inactive, but can go in emergeny situation if previous QB’s are exhausted.

When ” Chilly ” made the decision to dump Rosenfels for T-Jack , he may have ended the Vikes hopes for a run at the title. If Favre gets hurt we are DONE !
T-Jack has shown nothing but ineptitude in his entire career and Chilly is just as inept. Sorry purple faithful, with 12-men on the field Chilly leading the way I don’t have any high hopes for this Vikes team. I love the Vikes but they are poorly coached.

I was disappointed in Albert Young’s play. We are going to have to find a solution to a third situation or when AP is out of gas. the loss of Taylor is much bigger than most expected. Maybe Gerhart was the answer to that problem but nobody really knows what the status is with his knee but young is not the answer. if Gerhart is not healthy or is not the solution Ap is going to have buck up and stay in the game because Young unless he just had a bad night won’t do for us.
