Vikings Captains

Posted by Mike Wobschall on September 8, 2010 – 10:49 am

The 5 Vikings team captains in 2010 will be the same group of players that fulfilled the role a season ago when the squad went 12-4 and won a 2nd consecutive NFC North title.

Offensive captains will be QB Brett Favre and LG Steve Hutchinson, defensive captains will be LB E.J. Henderson and DT Kevin Williams and the special teams captain will be K Ryan Longwell.

The 5 captains have a combined 60 years of NFL experience and 23 Pro Bowls. Favre leads the way in both categories, with 11 Pro Bowls to his name and with this being his 2oth NFL season. Hutchinson has 10 years of experience and 7 Pro Bowls , Williams has 8 years of experience and 5 Pro Bowls, Longwell has 14 years of experience and Henderson has 8 years of experience.

Good luck in New Orleans Captains. Keep the team focused one play at a time, all game long.

I totaly agree with you gary. i don’t think that will happen though. the saints are too good. but i would love nothing more, then to see the vikes run up the score on the saints in new orleans. especially if favre threw for four tds and picked them apart. but if you guys look back and think about it, favre was the only guy offensively that was keeping us in the game. i mean he threw for 330 yards against the saints defense guy. you can’t blame the interception all on brett.

Swanson and soldier: stop crying about the officials, you lost because of the turnovers. Also, the refs didn’t put 12 men in the huddle coming out of a time out. I suppose the refs moved the goal posts when Gary Anderson missed the field goal against Atlanta. Stop being losers and face the fact that the Vikings will not be able to run the score up because they will be getting blown out by the Saints. WhoDat?

That was the worst joke I’ve ever heard/read. Just absolutely terrible. Hawood Jablomie sure has a lot of posts on this website. Closet Vikings fan? Probably. I wouldn’t dare visit the Saints page. I just threw up in my mouth. I had a dream that Allen went high and Edwards went low, Bree’s didn’t survive. I’m going to laugh when Peterson puts his cleats in Porters chest because he tried to strip the ball instead of making a tackle. I would give anything to see a Peterson/Sharper full speed head on collision, one William Gay comes to mind.

  18. By Woodboat on Sep 8, 2010 | Reply

Saints fan, come correct. If the reverse had happened and Allen had been knocking Brees on his backside late, play after play, and no flags, you’d be ticked off about it, too. I don’t blame the Saints at all… if you can get away with it, it isn’t a penalty. If the refs are going to keep your drives alive with phantom pass interferance calls late, take it. Just don’t act like it didn’t happen, bro.

Nah, the refs blew that game, as did the Vikings. I believe that if you didn’t have help from the refs, Farve wouldn’t have been so skittish, and those ints may not have been there. Enjoy your trophy without guilt. It isn’t your fault the refs handed you the game.

  19. By Woodboat on Sep 8, 2010 | Reply

You know, the NFL should take its que from baseball. If they throw at your slugger in a game, your pitcher throws heat right into the middle of theirs the next time he’s up. I think that Frazier shoulda pulled Edwards and Allen and Brinkley aside and let them know he’d cover their fines if they’d run brees so far into the ground they’d have to get a groundskeeper out on the field to find him. And this is coming from a guy that LIKES Brees. Maybe then the Refs would start calling the late hits, but probably not the way we’d like it.

  20. By Woodboat on Sep 8, 2010 | Reply

Come on, Roger. The Saints aren’t garbage…. they are top 10 in conference easily. Let’s show jackarse’s like this random Saints fan that we know more about the game than they do.

The cursing really proves how ignorant you are– and please refer to the Saints as the reigning World Champions. Woodboat–If Favre was skittish, he would of held on to the ball and ran for 6 yards and Longwell would have won the game for you. To quote: “This is Detroit man, this is for the SuperBowl”

yeah its kind of hard to run when your ankle is twisted and your 40 years old. just sayin man. you don’t if it was so easy to run or not. did you watch the game? the man could barely walk. it was childress’s fault more then anything. as a head coach and the game is on the lne, especially the super bowl, he should have been aware of that. 12 men in the huddle! what the heck

  30. By Hawood Jablomie on Sep 8, 2010 | Reply

Soldier- did YOU watch the game? The last play Favre “sprinted” to his right and had plenty of room to run. Even if he doesn’t gain a yard, you have a chance to win.
Ryan Longwell’s stats for 2009, field goals of 50 yards or more (2 for 2) Field goals between 40 and 49 yards he was 8 out of 9. I would take my chances with Longwell, he is a great kicker.

He was skittish, Bro. He has admitted that his internal clock had sped way up in anticipation of getting hit again. BTW, I’m certain that you realize that multiple Saints players got fined by the league for late hits in that game that weren’t flagged by the refs. So I saw it, the league saw it, the Saints D coordinator said he was going to do it before the game started. Stick your head in the sand if you want, bro, but the facts are facts. BTW, I never tell anyone to stop with the childish “Viqueens” label, don’t tell me how to label your cheatin’ Saints. Good luck with your season.

@haywoodjablomie yes i remember the play. who knows what he was thinking. i was thinking run too but who knows. maybe he was going to and saw rice open for a split second. never know. and as far as the late hits go. it so obvious. you saints fans can admit it. when the nfl fines your player 20,000 dollars (after they won the superbowl) then yes there were some illegal hits. when the nfl decides to look at the officials that did that game and to review the officiating (after they won the superbowl) then yes there were some pretty bad calls or lack there of. just saying man. its facts.

  49. By PurplePeopleEater on Sep 9, 2010 | Reply

I agree about the Greg Lewis thing mossback2011 – I was sure that he was going to get passed up by Walker and/or Payne. What does Lewis have that those 2 didn’t? We’ve got 2 posession recievers in Harvin & Camarillo, but the only deep threat we have now is Berrian until Rice heals up. I thought that Payne could fill in decently on the deep game until Rice comes back, but I guess we won’t be throwing the long ball much in the first couple of weeks anyways until Brett gets into his groove again.

    Ricky and Rodney-
Haywood is right- all you had to do was kick a field goal at the end of the game and your QB threw a pick.
Losers cry about the officiating, the great teams overcome the poor calls. As good as the Saints/ Katrina story is, the NFL loves the Favre story, so any way the game went the NFL would have been happy. The Saints did what they had to do to win, and the Vikings turned the ball over. That’s football. Did the officials fumble the ball at the 9 yard line before halftime? Face it, the only teams to have won Super Bowl titles in your division are the Bears (1) and Packers (3). You are the Cubs of the NFL.
