En Route To SF Soon; Vikings-49ers Series Notes

Posted by Mike Wobschall on August 21, 2010 – 11:13 am

We’ll be in the air traveling to San Francisco for most of Saturday afternoon, rendering us unable to provide you with updates for much of the day. But don’t worry, if anything pops up between now and then we’ll have the latest for you once we get settled into the hotel.

Unless something unexpected arises, all should be quite on the Vikings front until we get closer to kickoff time on Sunday night for preseason game #2.

In the meantime, though, here are a few notes on the Vikings-49ers series to enjoy…

– The Vikings trail the all-time series against the 49ers with a 21-22-1 record.
— Minnesota is 13-9 against the 49ers at home but only 8-13-1 when playing at San Francisco.
— The Vikings have won 4 of the last 5 matchups, with the last loss coming in San Francisco in 2006.
— The last 4 losses at San Francisco came by a total of 38 points.
— The Vikings have played the 49ers just 5 times in the preseason and hold a 3-2 edge in those games.
— The Vikings have played the 49ers 5 times in Divisional Playoff games, with 4 of those games taking place at San Francisco.
— This is the 4th time in 5 seasons the Vikings will meet their counterparts from the NFC West.
— The Vikings have 2 coaches who previously spent time with the 49ers: OL coach Pat Morris (1997-2003) & WRs coach George
Stewart (1996-2002).
