Report: Favre On Plane “Headed North”

Posted by Ryan Cardinal on August 17, 2010 – 1:45 pm

According to a report by NFL Network, Vikings QB Brett Favre has boarded a plane and is “headed north,” presumably to the Twin Cities.

The Star Tribune’s Judd Zulgad reported earlier today that 3 veteran Vikings players — Jared Allen, Steve Hutchinson, and Ryan Longwell — flew to Mississippi to meet with Favre within the last 24 hours.

The Vikings have yet to comment on either report.

Yeah, Favre is a choke artist!! Come on man!! Brett and the Vikings were robbed of the NFC title. The bad calls, the coin toss which could have gone either way and was the 12 men on the field Brett’s fault? And remember the bad call yrs. ago when the stupid referee said a clear fumble by the 49ers recovered by the Packers was not a fumble when replay showed it was a fumble but they didn’t have challenges or replay review back then…was that Brett’s fault? Then the 4th and 26 !!! against the Eagles….was that Brett’s fault? And how come no one mentions the goof up by Aaron R. in the play off against the Cardinals that cost the Packers the game…Oh, excuse me Aaron can do no wrong but Brett always goofs up!!I for one am thrilled he’s going to play (hopefully) and I for one hope he wins his 2nd. We are looking at a team that resembles the Cowboys of the 90’s. A d-line that goes to the third level, Depth at just about every position, an organization that is solid from the bottom on up. If we can stay relatively healthy, especially at the skilled positions, we are going to be even better than last year. I expect a healthy and improved Oline, a running game that will be improved with A P looking to rebound from an ordinary year according to his standards, Gerhart, though inexperienced, flashed brilliance in his first pre season game running the ball and he has great hands, just needs to work on his blocking. Also, Chris Cook is goingb to be a player. He made hisn presence felt in training camp and made a couple of outstanding plays on special teams and defensively. Jasper Brinkley, looked vastly improved from last year, and could be the key to our already dominating defense. I really believe this is the year.

YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! AND ONE MORE, YES! I KNEW THAT HE WOULD BE COMING BACK. WITH ALL OF THE TALK ABOUT SEASON 2011 OUT ON A LIMB BECUASE OF THE DISPUTE BETWEEN THE PLAYERS ASSOCIATION AND THE LEAGUE, WHY WOULDNT HE? THIS MAY BE THE LAST CHANCE HE HAS TO GO FOR ANOTHER WOULD BE HIS SECOND CHAMPIONSHIP RING. NOW IS THE TIME! HIS AND THE VIKINGS TIME. JUST LOOK HOW FAR HE BROUGHT US LAST YEAR! IN THIS DECADE, ALONE, THE VIKINGS HAVE BEEN TO THE NFC CHAMPIONSHIP TWICE. AND YOU KNOW WHAT THEY SAY, RIGHT? THREE TIMES IS USUALLY THE CHARM! AND I SHOULD KNOW! WHY? BECAUSE MY SON IS A WIDE RECEIVER IN THE NEFL, THE LARGEST AND MOST SUCCESSFUL SEMI PRO ORGANIZATION IN THE NATION! HIS TEAM IS ENROUTE TO WHAT WILL BE THEIR THIRD CHAMPIONSHIP WIN (YES, I SAID WIN. I’M AN OPTIMIST) IN FOUR YEARS AFTER HAVING WON TWO BACK TO BACK DIVISION AA CHAMPIONSHIPS. YOU HEARD RIGHT! SOUND FAMILIAR? WELL THE TEAM DOES REPRESENT THE (ahem, no pun intended here
) THE NEW ENGLAND SEMI PRO FOOTBALL LEAGUE. LOOK HOW LONG WE HAD TO WAIT FOR JUST THE RED SOX TO WIN A PENNANT. I LIKE MANY NEW ENGLAND FANS, CAN RELATE TO ALL YOU VIKINGS FANS. REALLYY I CAN! MY GUT FEELING? THIS IS IT! THIS IS THE YEAR! THE WAITING IS OVER. AND I HOPEFULLY HAVE DIRECT TV SO THAT I CAN WATCH MY VIKINGS. YEAH, I KNOW. I LOVE MY PATRIOTS, TOO. YOU SEE I USE TO BE A COACH FOR AN AREA HIGH SCHOOL AND THEIR TEAM IS ALSO THE VIKINGS. AND HERE IS A VERY GOOD OMEN. THEIR 2010-2011 BOYS VARSITY BASKETBALL TEAM RECENTLY WON THEIR FIRST EVER STATE CHAMPIONSHIP IN THE HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL!!AND THEY, LIKE THE VIKINGS HAD COME SO CLOSE MAKING SO MANY TRIPS ONLY TO LOSE SO, IF THATS NOT A GOOD SIGN THEN, I DON’T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO TELL YOU PURPLE AND GOLD FANS EXCEPT TO TRUST, HAVE FAITH, ITS BELIEF IN THIS TEAM THAT WILL GET THEM TO D A L L A S FOR SUPERBOWL XLV. AND BEFORE I FORGET, FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO AREN’T FAMILIAR WITH THE SEMI PRO CIRCUIT? WELL, ITS A WORKING MAN’S LEAGUE AND MY SON’S TEAM QB IS 46 YRS OLD!! HE HADNT THROWN A PASS SINCE HIGH SCHOOL! YOU HAVE YOUR FARVE AND WE HAVE OURS. THE TEAM IS CURRENTLY 4-1. I DON’T KNOW THE TEAM STATISTICS. BUT, I CAN TELL YOU THAT (and Im bragging of course, he my boy) MY SON AND THIS QB HAVE ALREADY HOOKED UP FOR AN UNPRECEDENTED 9 TD’S IN JUST FIVE GAMES ALONE! HOW’S THAT FOR AN OLE MAN!!? LOL WELCOME BACK, BRETT. GOOD LUCK VIKINGS AND MY PERSONAL BLESSINGS TO THE WHOLE TEAM! SUPERBOWL 2010!! YEAH!

Scondly…it’s obvoiusly hypothetically speaking…assuming he’s healthy, yes we should be set for 10 yrs give or take. As for being mad, I could care less…got over it many moons ago. I don’t hear anyone saying what is the logical scenario – the Vikes have a veteran qb under contract who is injured. When he is physically able to perform he will be the vikings starting qb, whether that is tomorrow or after the bye, or even later. The only thing he is doing that is not best for the vikings is not hanging in Minny and consulting the training staff daily. I think that jared and the others are just telling him to come North and do that.

markp – well put. I can’t argue w/ that. And yes, #4 certainly makes the leage a more exciting one. I will admit it stung a little when he joined the Vikings, and as much as a championship Vikings team led by Favre would fester even more, I would still sleep well knowing that it took the greatest [former] Packer to bring the ring home to MN.

DAVE: Right now am a Brett Fan and the guy only has a few years left so YES am resting everything on him and the Vikings to win a SB. Pretend I put up numbers in front of you 33Td’s 7Int 4200yrds. And gave you options Brady, Manning,Brees and a undisclosed OLD guy thats 40yrs old Would you ever pick the old guy had those numbers? Prob NOT. Lets forget about his age, if you can still play and he showed it in the first 10games or so in NY before he had some miscues with players and shoulder problems and showed it last year why would anyone quit playing or doing something they love and enjoy. Revenge is over for him, he beat the pack twice and most likely will go 1 and 1 this year. The guy in this point in his life has a chance to play at a high level with a good team and have a good chance at winning it all. I tell you what, if Vikings beat the Saints on that Thursday there will be a lot of people labeling them the #1 team in the NFL. I will just enjoy watching him play another year and hope all goes well. There are some teams if you been watching in pre-season that you have to be careful off. Baltimore is one of them along with the Pack, Vikings, Indi, Saints to be favorites. Just let football start.

Whoever said Favre has been doing this for 2 yrs is a tard….2002 is the first time he started crying on tv….it is because he is a sore loser…and did any of you viking fans watch that second game? did you see the calls that were missed? AP is not a factor andGb has a revamped secondary if it stays healthy….and the o-line wont let rodgers go down more than 20 times this year….there will be no better qb than rodgers in the nfl this yr…sat night the starting offense was nearly perfect after grants fumble….and rodgers was perfect….idk y u queen fans are saying packer fans should be afraid….we r the team that finished the reg season 7-1 and got cheated out of a playoff win….the vikes lost what 3 of the last 4 before the playoffs?? Im pretty sure you guys should be afraid…you have a rb that is leaving his prime….and a qb that is indeed…a grandfather. and not to mention a pervert….

HEY FELLOW FANS, A RING ISNT THE ONLY THING THAT THE VIKINGS HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR. THEY HAVE ALSO BEEN WAITING FOR A SPECIFIC TROPHY THAT WAS STOLEN AFTER THEY WON A CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE THE AFL-NFL- MERGER. ITS CALLED THE ED THORP TROPHY AND ITS BEEN MISSING FOR YEARS! DO YOUR RESEARCH PEOPLE, BEFORE YOU PUT ON YOUR PURPLE GAME ATTIRE. JUST STATING A FACT IS ALL.
