Brett Back At Winter Park

Posted by Mike Wobschall on August 17, 2010 – 3:10 pm

In a scene nearly identical to what transpired a year ago today, Vikings QB Brett Favre has arrived at Winter Park after an offseason of contemplation on whether he would return for another season of football.

Reports surfaced earlier this morning that 3 of Favre’s teammates – DE Jared Allen, G Steve Hutchinson and K Ryan Longwell – had flown down to Mississippi to speak with the QB. By the time practice had concluded late Tuesday morning, word had spread that the quartet of Vikings were on their way to Minnesota.

The plane carrying the 4 players landed in Eden Prairie around 4:00 p.m. CT and then the group hopped into a car and drove to Winter Park, arriving to a throng of media and fans just as Favre had done a year ago.

No word yet on a press conference, but stay tuned to vikings.com for updates and more information.

Even though it kills me to root for the Vikes (sorry Vikings fans – you know how it is – nothing personal!) I actually love seeing the pack fans come on here. First, they show their ignorance with spelling and bad grammer. Then, psychologically speaking, only those with severe insecurity issues travel to anothers site to throw insults. Add to that those insults prove them even dumber when Rogers got sacked, what, 6-7 times in the first game? and got knocked out after one playoff game? That fossil had the best year of his career; not as a packer, but as a Viking. So come on with all your ridiculous statements and (re-)prove the rule.

I can tell you why I came to your site – because I am a Packer FOOTBALL fan. I love the game. In my opinion, Brett is one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever have played the game. I am a Brett fan, and a football fan and not a hater of anybody. I don’t really understand why we can’t all root for our teams in a positive manner. I just love watching any good player. Yet, I am a Packer fan and will be because that is what I was raised with and love. I will never understand why people turn this into so much negativity. Grow up and let me enjoy your team while you have my favorite quarterback ever!

He needs to either get his butt in camp so he can choke in the playoffs… AGAIN. *cough* tracy porter *cough* Or he should go back to Mississippi and check out the oil spill and see if he could do something about that… cuz all you Viking fans treat him like a god

Btw. Packers will be your next super bowl champions

  130. By Vikingssuckrooster on Aug 17, 2010 | Reply

Also. Viking Super Bowl count: ZERO …. Packers: THREE AND COUNTING … what truly “great” team has 6 turnovers in the game that could get them to their 5th super bowl? It’s hard to play football with two hands around your throat…

  131. By kw on Aug 17, 2010 | Reply

well how are the packes going to win their fourth if rodgers fumbles in overtime?

  132. By Del on Aug 17, 2010 | Reply

I think it’s great to get Brett back if he is healthy, but use your head Vikings. You need to keep Sage on the roster. If Brett gets hurt, T-Jack couldn’t win against high school teams.

Here we go! Nothing is stopping this team from the Super Bowl in Dallas. Just a short three hour drive for me.

We will see if Favre dose Good or Not.
I Think he will do a great Job!
But Who are they going to let go in QB Postion?
I would get Let TJ Go BYE Bye.
Rosefields Did a great game Saturday and so Did Joe Webb.
Childress and coaching staff Trade TJ or Put him on free Agency.
We have Lost Faith In Him

Dell & John-Karl, you guys know what you’re talking about. It’s as simplle as this,Cut TJOKE, Sage is great to backup Farve and make Joe Webb the project QB to develop under Favre. I have more confidence that Sage could win a game if need be, but TJack needs to go. Favre’s the man and this is it the window of opportunity is this season 2010, we don’t need extra bagage it this point. Most importantly, lets play for the 1st seed, so that the NFC championship is at home, lets keep our eye on the Superbowl from game 1

YES!!! You guys up front protect No. #4 and let him work his magic~especially on the Saints and ungrateful G.B. cheeseheads. Always have been a Farve fan, and THIS Vikings team is by far my favorite. No matter what happens this year, it will be the best football to watch ever! Hopefully, all the blind refs are the ones who retired!

To all the haters & doubters out there: you talk a lot, but here you are on vikings.com, and you can’t help yourself…EVEN YOU can’t quit Brett. He is THE MAN. He’s the one you love to hate, the one you secretly admire, and the playmaker you wish your team had. Go buy yourself a #4 Vikings jersey already and be done with it!

Favre + Vikes = Super Bowl Champions

I wonder if brett wanted to really return or was he peer pressured I don’t want to see him play if his mind is not 100% into the game.

Packers will have a great offense but will struggle on defense as always… just look at their first preseason game…..that is why they will lose again because their defense cant stop a good QB…Are offense will be good this year but more running than last year but we will throw ball very well stell…But are defense will be the best in the NFL im guessing this year and if we can get lucky with turnovers like the saints did last year we will be impossible…SKOL…

Brett Favre was all about revenge last year…this year he will lose that edge and will have a year like he did with the Jets. He is a mid-tier QB at this point and the thin treads will show this year. BTW…you’ll find out like Packer Nation did…in the end Brett is a Brett fan and it is, and always has been about him, for him…he is a sell out to his own ego so don’t believe the Mississippi sappy “I luv Y’all up here in Minnesota” schtick…he love himself and that’s all it ever will be…

SAGE is the Future, Farve will be targeted by teams like the Saints did and he cannot help but get taken out. He has no mobility. He’s got guts but needs to move on in life and enjoy his family. Football will live on after Farve, but can Farve live on after Football???????

  159. By kw on Aug 17, 2010 | Reply

SAGE is not the future. he has been playing for nine years and has rarely been the starter

Move over T-Jack and Sage, theres a new sheriff in town. LEADERSHIP + TALENT ( no shortage of talent ) = SUPERBOWL CHAMPS…. Can’t wait for the opener vs. da’ aint’s….

  161. By Cooely on Aug 17, 2010 | Reply

wow….hey Packers#1, you want some dip to go with that chip?? Favre is a player of the game like the hundreds of other NFL stars playin for fame and glory, tryin to go for that ring. Its the love of the game that keeps him playing. I think its pretty obvious that this is for sure his last season. I love the vikings but even i know that favre will more than likely finish as a viking but be remembered as a packer

Read ‘em and weep: Inside sources have indicated that the container which Favre is toting into Winter Park is a giant can of homemade Mississippi butt stompin’. Favre will be conducting a new seminar for all his teammates on who will receive the biggest portions during the 2010 season, as part of the 50th anniversary celebration. He’s making a list, checking it twice, folks. Anyone care to guess who’s atop the list?

Loving the Haters on ESPN and NFL network (Woodson)….” I have no respect for Brett or the Vikes” …..Well guys….SORRY your retired and can’t play! ” “There’s no way he can do what he did last year” OH guys…that 5 or 6 months just all of a sudden Brett can’t even come close to what he did last year……..These are the same guys that said the same thing last year and it proves just because you played the game doesn’t make you that smart because they didn’t learn their lessons!

Somehow it always surprises me how insanely this site lights up when the thread is about Favre. Blog after blog gets ignored by all but maybe a dozen fans. Then someone whispers HIS name and the site goes crazy. Glad to have him back, (I never doubted that he would return) but his news always gets blown out of proportion.

Al least now we can finally focus on the road ahead, starting with a victory in N’Orleans and finishing with a victory in Dallas. And don’t forget that it is going to take a lot more than just Favre to make it every step of the way.

  169. By Ron on Aug 18, 2010 | Reply

Just remember, the Saints will play dirty football and will go after his ankle even if they receive one or more personal fouls. Just look at last years NFC championship game. The defensive coordinator for the Saints publicly supports this type of play.

So, Favre could be out after the first game.

plllleeeeaaaassseee Mr Farvra come back. We need you in order to finish 2nd! U vikes are pathethic!u beggin a guy to play???? what a joke ur organization is! win a superbowl, lol, yeah in 20 yrs.

I think it’s funny how many Packer fans and Favre haters come to the Minnesota Vikings site to run their mouths…just admit it-the guy is a great football player who has the stats to prove it. If you dislike Favre and the Vikes so much, why waste your time and energy on them?!? Not to mention the rest of the Vikings teammates who are all very talented players. Remember that the QB is not the only factor in a winning NFL season, the defense plays a major role in winning games as well. From my recollection…the Vikings have one of the best defensive lines in the NFL. I think Minnesota has a roster full of talented players and I enjoyed watching the team play last year. The only person who knows why he continues to play is Favre himself…whether it be for money, for his ego, or for the love of the game, who cares….you’re not the one paying his salary so quit your complaining. It is enlightening to see a man of his age still playing the game!

All trash talking and joking around aside… I am really worried about Favre leading the Vikings. As tough as he is, I think this time he is in for a rude awakening. His body will not be able to handle it. He is overweight, old and his ankle will be a problem. I don’t see him lasting more than 6 weeks. Move over Rover and let T-Jack take over…that’s what I’m talkin’ bout!
