Preseason Did You Know?

A few preseason nuggets of information to chew on while we wait for the Vikings-Rams game tomorrow night…

– The Vikings have a combined record of 133-87-3 (.603) in their 223 preseason games.
– The team has finished undefeated in the preseason 6 times (1964, ‘65, ‘73, ‘92, ‘98, ‘01).
– The Vikings have finished with a .500 record or better 38 times in the team’s 49 preseasons.
– In the 38 previous preseasons when the Vikings have finished at .500 or better, the team has gone on to finish at .500 or better 31 times in the ensuing regular season.
– In the 11 preseasons when the Vikings have finished below .500, the team has gone on to finish below .500 six times in the ensuing regular season.
– Head Coach Brad Childress currently has a 8-7-1 record in the preseason.

    I thought that Denny Green’s main accomplishment every year was winning all the preseason games, even if that meant keeping starters in for the entire game. I guess he wasn’t even able to pull that off all that often

    good stuff mike thanks … some how i think coach childress is lookin at preseason as a teachin tool more than any other year i can remember under his banner ,,, i could be wrong … the purple hav some quality young men very much worth coachin-up … not just the excellent rookie group but there are several 2nd and 3rd yr guys that are showin some character in their progress … will be fun to watch the 2nd 3rd and 4th quarters of this first preseason game … gonna be some jobs won and lost

    Hope the offense is practicing sure fire ways to protect favre from the Saints and anyone else that vows to hit him after the ball is thrown
