Submit Your Questions For Coach Frazier

Posted by Ryan Cardinal on August 3, 2010 – 7:27 am

With the 2010 season certainly upon us, it’s time once again for several Vikings-related things to roll back into action, including the television show “Vikings Weekly.”  During the regular season, fans will have the chance to submit their questions for Head Coach Brad Childress to potentially answer on the show.  During the preseason however, the Vikings 3 coordinators will get their crack at answering your submissions.

For the first episode, Defensive Coordinator and Assistant Head Coach Leslie Frazier will answer 1 fan question.  So, if you have a question for Frazier, submit it via the comments section of this post, along with your first name and your hometown, and it could be answered on this week’s program.

There were talks that Everson Griffen could develop into one of the elite pass rushers in the league. Does that mean that there is a good chance he could start this year or are you planning on putting him into a rotation to keep the pass rushers fresh?

Hi, coach Frazier are the vikings a pure cover 2 defense or do you like to mix it up with cover 3 also? will the vikings defense be more aggressive with blitz package bringing more heat. I think the dime flat on passing downs is a good defense to play let the db’s blitz from all angles. That way you can have cook, asher, benny on the field together blitzing and confusing the qb. Just wanted to throw my 2cents hope you guys blitz more with db’s playing base coverage the qb has too much time to throw and puts pressure on corners too much they can’t cover that long. Thanks coach frazier keep up the good work I hope you end up being the vikings coach one day.

Hey Coach- I am a Vikings fan in Cincinnati, Ohio and want to congratulate you on a fantastic career as a player and coach. I really just wanted to know what ingredients it is going to take to get our defense to be the #1 ranked defense in the league, and what can my Vikings do to get over the hump to get that first Super Bowl ring? By the way, I believe that it was very controversial the way that Pete Carroll was hired. I had heard the report at 8:30 in the morning on Saturday and that was E.S.T. So that meant that you would have had to of had your interview at 5:30 P.S.T. He had already been named HC at that point, but wasn’t officially named until that Monday. I can’t believe that the sea chickens can even say that everything was done legitimately. Thanks Coach.

    Coach,

How confident are you in the group of players you have at safety right now. Over the last couple of years those spots always seemed to be the weakest.

I’ve been looking at the Team’s roster and trying to guess which players are going to get cut and which will make the team, but with all the talent you have in there it makes for some very difficult choices. Outside of the starting guys, what do you look for in players to help you make the decision? Also, what limitations do you have set for the number of players at each position? And finally, can you give us an idea of some of the more skilled/valued back-up players on your defense right now?

    Thanks,

    Ryan, St. Cloud

HEADS UP PEOPLE – I noticed some of you are asking questions about the offense (Brett Favre, TJack, Ryan D’Imperio etc.) Chances are that the DEFENSIVE COACH is not going to have much for answers on them.

hey coach , im a huge viks fan for the last 40 years , im certainly not a great master of defence like you, but i did watch every game , the corners seemed to be able to hold there own but safty help over the middle was non existant what are the odds of picking up a top free agent safty like darrin sharper or jermaine phillips or even sean jones. madieu williams is certainly not the answer.

What is the Vikings offence and defence ratings compared to the rest of the NFL currently. I’m really interested in details such as the defensive secondary, passing, rushing, off and def lines etc.

As a lifelong Viking fan, I have to say, aside from possibly losing Brett, the biggest weakness the team shows is defending the short pass! With a healthy linebacking corps, and the return of Antoine Winfield, the safety position should be the focus of improvement! Really miss Darren Sharper!

How does Chris Cook compare up to the other rookie cornerbacks of the NFL?

How is Chris Cook looking? I loved this pick in the draft even though others didnt. Does he have a chance at a starting role?

    PA Vike fan since 1966

How will Toby Gerhardt workout as a blocker to spring Peterson and was the tight end from PSU picked up mainly for blocking purposes—I noticed his
reception stats were not that great!!!

Could Farve come back and share the duties with TJ
and have a special package for TJ to use his mobility?? Rest farve up–protect ankle and maybe
    shot gun offense a little????

    Coach Childress,

I’ve been a loyal fan of the Vikings since Fran Tarkenton was the quarterback and Bud Grant was the Head Coach. Since then the Vikings have not really had a consistently good quarterback or Coach who could be a strong leader for the team. Rumors are flying the you may be considering taking on Donovan McNabb if the Redskins don’t keep him for more than one season. Please say this is not so! Why can’t we just get some young, talented qbs and develop them, instead of continuing to get qbs past their prime. The only exception that worked out was Favre; but he is one of a kind. I’m sick of losing! I’m almost ready to toss in the towel and become a Pittsburg fan.
Could you be the coach to finally get the Vikes to get their act together and not choke when it counts! I hope so!
Please do not take any of this as being disrespectful. I’m just sick of 40 years of losing!
