Cook Deal Is Official; Gerhart Lone Unsigned Pick

Posted by Mike Wobschall on July 29, 2010 – 2:08 pm

Earlier today we referenced a Star Tribune report that 2nd round CB Chris Cook had agreed to terms on a rookie contract with the Vikings. Now, we just received notification that indeed the deal is official.

Cook is a 6-2, 212-pound CB out of the University of Virginia who will compete with several others for time at CB and should also be a regular contributor on special teams. He is the 1st Virginia player ever drafted by the Vikings.

The Cook signing leaves 2nd round RB Toby Gerhart as the lone unsigned 2009 draft pick for the Vikings.

Best of luck to Chris Cook! I’m sure he’ll make a great Viking! I’m anxious to see Gerhart get signed, if he turns out to be as great a player as he looks to be, defenses won’t be able to zone in on Peterson if you got a double threat at the runningback position. We’ll have defenses around the league scrambling for oxygen at the sidelines after chasing both those guys around.
