Day 3 Of NFL-USO Coaches Tour An Emotional One For Childress

Posted by Mike Wobschall on July 6, 2010 – 7:21 am

Hey everyone, welcome back after a long 4th of July holiday weekend. Hope it was fun and safe for everyone.

Last week before the holiday break, we began updating you on Head Coach Brad Childress’ journey with 3 other NFL head coaches as part of the NFL-USO Coaches Tour in the Persian Gulf. Updates on Day 1 and Day 2 can be read by clicking on the appropriate links.

As you’ll find by reading those updates, the first 2 days of the tour were quite eventful for the NFL head coaches. For Childress, though, Day 3 was purely emotional. As he was going about routine business after arriving at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan on Friday, Childress was reunited with his son, Andrew, who is serving in the Marines. Organizers from the NFL-USO Coaches Tour and the U.S. military arranged for the father and son to meet.

The Star Tribune’s Judd Zulgad has the full story and you can read it by clicking here.
