Vikings DE Ray Edwards has signed his restricted free agent (RFA) tender and is now under contract for the 2010 season. Edwards notched a career-high 8.5 sacks during the 2009 regular season and then came up huge in the playoffs with 4.0 more sacks, including 3.0 more in the Divisional Round against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Vikings also signed 5th round draft pick (#167 overall) LB Nate Triplett; terms of his contract were not disclosed. Triplett joins FB Ryan D’Imperio as Vikings draft selections who’ve signed contracts.

Lastly, the Vikings waived the following undrafted rookie free agents: C Eddie Adamski, OT Matt Hanson, RB James Johnson, WR Aaron Rhea (injured), CB Angelo Williams and OT Marlon Winn.

Good job. Let’s just hope that the coaches don’t automatically hand him the starting job. There’s some other talented young guys on the team, including Brian Robison and the rookie Everson Griffin. I’m certain that both have been working very hard to earn large roles on the team, and with the competition we are going to face we need to make certain that the best man is selected.

Edwards will be the starter – he is very talented and has the desire and heart to want to win the SB this coming year – betting he will have a better year than he did last year

I’m glad to see that Edwards is signed and I’m certain he will have a career year this year although he had a great year last year and I loved what he did against Dallas last year!!!

We’re gonna need that career season this year, espescially if that Williams Wall case ever gets settled against us before the end of the season.

I’m a man that loves turnovers, but if our defense can’t get those going then I’ll learn to love seeing QBs get pounded to the ground fast and often instead.

i think they should have pursued john henderson or even tried to get a better in the draft at the spot edwards plays ,his game is not as good as the rest of the d line starters ,not even close he benefits from the constant double teams on allen and the williamses so it should be a career every year for him.but only a handfull of sacks and not the presence at the point of attack ! lets get aaron kampman he led the league in sacks a couple of years and plays hard all the time!
