The annual Vikings Children’s Fund (VCF) Golf Tournament will be held this Thursday at Rush Creek Golf Club in Maple Grove. The sold-out event is sponsored by Miller Lite and will include several current and former Vikings players and coaches, including Head Coach Brad Childress, as well as many staff members and front office executives.

All proceeds of the event, which is not open to the public, benefit the VCF.

A shotgun start is scheduled for 12:45 p.m. with an awards ceremony featuring comments from Vikings VP of Player Personnel Rick Spielman to follow. KFAN will be broadcasting live from Rush Creek during the day.

Since 1978, the VCF has distributed more than $9 million, with over $5 million supporting research at the University of Minnesota Department of Pediatrics.

Vikings Ahead Of The Game In Neck Strengthening Training

Posted by Mike Wobschall on May 25, 2010 – 7:03 am

Head injuries, and specifically concussions, have been pushed to the forefront of the NFL recently due to higher profile players suffering such injuries and because of the increased interest Congress has taken on the matter.

Increased awareness of the concussion issue by Congress, the League offices and the public will hopefully begin to curb the number of serious head injuries suffered by athletes in the NFL and also across the country in other sports and at other levels, such as college and high school athletics.

Alex Marvez of FoxSports.com recently penned an article that addresses the concussion issue and how some, including Vikings Head Strength and Conditioning Coach Tom Kanavy, are ahead of the game.
