Getting To Know Lito Sheppard

Posted by Mike Wobschall on May 18, 2010 – 8:29 am

The Vikings will hit the practice fields later this morning at Winter Park as they kickoff OTA #1, so there’s not much to report right now. In the meantime, though, we can get to know one of the newest Vikings a little bit better.

CB Lito Sheppard signed with the Vikings earlier this offseason and has been around Winter Park the last couple of weeks. And although the Vikings are a new team for him, Sheppard’s transition has been eased by something.

More About Lito
Favorite food:
I love steak, seafood and pasta. Those are my top 3 and I can’t go wrong with any of those.
Last song downloaded: I’m pretty much a rap guy, but lately I’ve liked Usher. So I’d say something from Usher’s new album.
Last movie: Iron Man 2. I’m a big super hero fanatic in terms of action and suspense.
If not football, what would you be doing: Something to do with cars. I love cars and I’ve always wanted to build an engine.
Other sports: Before dedicating myself to football, basketball was my A+ game in middle school and high school. In 10th grade I had to switch to football because of my size.
NBA Finals pick: Los Angeles Lakers – Kobe is the man and his team is great
Hero growing up: That’s a no brainer – my Grandfather. He was strict on us growing up but I appreciate it now. It taught me a lot of disciple and organization. I tip my hat to him.

Secondary is no longer a weak link. I think the weak link is now the offensive center and right offensive guard. Vikes need a mammoth 6′ 7″ 325 lb behemoth in those positions who can protect Bret Favre and create holes for TG and AP. I hope that drafted player DeGeare is up for the challenge. I hope the Williams Wall will win their case against the NFL. I don’t know why Vikes have a hard time deciding on Haynesworth if he wants to play for the Vikes. The Griffen/Haynesworth/Jimmy Kennedy/Allen front-four would be awesome.

Secondary is still a problem, as far as o-line we lost hicks which wasn’t a very big loss, degeare should get a chance if he can showcase it in training camp. Guards are not meant to be 6’7 that’s for the left and right tackles. Guards are a little shorter but more beefier like centers size somewhat. Favre just hangs on the ball too long at times, lineman can’t block forever. Rice had huge numbers, harvin was productive, berrian also shank so the vikings lineman are doing a pretty good job if he didn’t have good protection those guys wouldn’t have been a factor. Yeah I see the o-line needs some adjustments and minor tweaking but other than that they are doing a decent job.

I’ll like to see the DEFENSE play like they did against the Cowboys in the Playoff last year.

The performance in the middle isn’t entirely the Favre story. I hear Sully is a great pulling hitter from the replays and pundits, but could Adrain’s production decline be a result of not resigning the stud Birk? The Ravems under Birk’s captainship ran all over us. Few can. Injuries will define our weaknesses and depth will play the part as always. Our last pickup from the Jets I know of, worked out… That Favre guy. Welcome Mr. Sheppard.
