Vikings Sign 7th Rounder D’Imperio

Posted by Mike Wobschall on May 17, 2010 – 1:47 pm

In today’s Monday Morning Mailbag I said it might take until June for us to see draft picks signing contracts. As it turns out, one Vikings draft pick signed his contract today.

Converted FB Ryan D’Imperio (he played LB in college) has signed with the Vikings. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

D’Imperio played LB at Rutgers but the Vikings worked him out as a FB before the draft and liked what they saw. So they selected him with the 30th pick of the 7th round – #237 overall – and will see what he can do on the offensive side of the ball.

MAYBE HE JUST LOVES THE GAME AND WANTS TO PUT THE BS BEHIND HIM AND START FOCUSING ON THE UPCOMING YEAR.

I like this kid already. Watch out Dugan and Kleinsasser, D’Imperio might be hungy for a roster spot.

Did d imperio even play fb or is it a random switch, how did they go from backer to fullback they are totally different positions. Don’t know how the switch would be but i’m guessing he’s in there just to block, there is no room for any fb maybe he is heading for special teams. Tahi is already the fb.

I think he rushed for over 1200 yards in high school. Played FB and LB in high school.

This is not a drill nor is it just going through the motions. Tahi’s job as fullback is not maintained via tenure. When it comes to having it made, the NFL is also short for “Not For Long”. Any fullback who runs faster, can block as effectively, shows he can run better after the catch, and also shines on special teams could take his spot away in a heartbeat. Teams not only improve by having better starters, they also improve by having better depth, An NFL season is partly a war of attrition. Once you get your roster this close to the top of the ladder, every extra advantage counts..

This kid ( Ryan D’Imperio ) is READY to prove what he can do. Most TOP draft picks are NOT worth what they wanna be paid, so they hold out. There should be a BASE pay for ALL and also receive BONUSES for performance on and off the field.

From what I read about Ryan D’Imperio he’s got heart and desire for the game.

Hurry up and sign everyone else. I will laugh when there’s 2 days till the regular season and the Rams finally sign Bradford. Detroit was smart, they already had Stafford signed.

Woah! I’m really digging the template/theme of this site.
It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s tough
to get that “perfect balance” between superb usability and
appearance. I must say you’ve done a awesome job with this.

Also, the blog loads super quick for me on Opera. Excellent Blog!
