Vikings Sign Pair Of Undrafted Rookie FAs

Posted by Mike Wobschall on May 3, 2010 – 11:39 am

A large contingent of NFL hopefuls were at Winter Park last weekend trying to flash in front of Vikings coaches and scouts, hopeful of grabbing a roster spot for the remainder of the offseason program and perhaps into training camp later this summer.

And 2 of the players who were at the rookie minicamp accomplished the task.

The Vikings signed former Iowa State WR Marquis Hamilton and former Southwest Minnesota State OT Bill Noethlich.

Hamilton is a 6-3, 222-pound receiver from Edmond, OK and Noethlich stands at 6-7 and hails from Doland, SD.

Here’s what Vikings VP of Player Personnel Rick Spielman had to say about each player:

On Hamilton: “Marquis is a big wide receiver with good size who showed a good ability catching the ball. His performance over the weekend warranted a further look as we continue this spring.”

On Noethlich: “Bill had a good tryout through the weekend and stuck out as one of the better linemen in the group. He gave a good accounting of himself and has some physical traits and skills that are promising. He’s got the arm reach and frame to make him a good prospect.”

With just this past weekend Mini Camp – you still need more practice times to work with these guys – before you can dismiss any.

Need to throw together a few Coaches and asst. Coaches and these young players and let them work, drill and develop these guys before camp.

Good job Vikings – big wide receiver and big OT. Let’s face it , other teams have huge linemen and athletes are becoming bigger and faster.

I hope the vikings staff really makes rookies, veterans work hard this offseason, we lack toughness against teams we should win for example last years game against carolina, arizona. Vikes need to learn how to finish off games and quit letting opponents get back in the game. Work these guys hard in the offseason mentally and physically.

Vikes should check out a receiver in the CFL named Weston Dressler. He is a stud up there and would fill in nicely for Percy when he has migraine trouble. Dressler is VERY quick and would be an excellent slot player.

The Vikings sign 2 players and not 1 of them is Perrilloux? What is going on here? John Booty was a whole lot better than Rosenfels, who was drafted by the Redskins, which was a team that did not have a good quarterback, and let go to go to the dolphins, which was another team that did not have a good quarterback, and then was picked up by Houston, a team that was looking for a sucker to take this guy off their hands for whatever they could get! If the league was to have cutbacks of players today, nobody would take this guy off our hands. Maybe Archer is having a really good camp, after all William and Mary had a really good offense last year, but Perrilloux has all the tools to be our starter, if he can keep his head together! Get rid of Rosenfels and keep both Perrilloux and Archer, one on practice squad and one on 3rd string. Jackson has the awesome mobility and arm strength, but lacks a whole lot in accuarcy and the mental aspects of the game. It is not there in him and it will never be there in him. SORRY!!! But on the other hand, you can’t let him go because he knows the system and the other two don’t. In any case, Rosenfels and Jckson are NOT the ANSERS!!!!! PLEASE DO SOMETHING TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE!!! The quarterback position is the most important position on the team. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT PLEEREEEEASE!!!!!

Yeah, sign Ryan Perrilloux. Don’t we already have enough guys at QB that love to run and can’t throw. That’s just great. Childress and company get a clue.
