Yesterday 3 players who were formerly restricted free agents (RFAs) signed their tenders. Today, another Vikings RFA has signed his tender.

FB Fahu Tahi is now under contract with the Vikings and will join the team’s offseason program. Tahi, who played college football at BYU, has been with the Vikings since 2006.

There are now just 2 Vikings RFAs who have not signed their tenders – DE Ray Edwards and QB Tarvaris Jackson.

Vikings-Jets Matchup Perfect For Primetime?

Posted by Mike Wobschall on April 13, 2010 – 7:37 am

For the 2nd consecutive week, a marquee player in the NFL has been traded and it’s had aftereffects that impact the Vikings.

Last week the Philadelphia Eagles shipped 6-time Pro Bowl QB Donovan McNabb to the Washington Redskins – the Vikings play both the Eagles and Redskins in 2010.

This week, the Pittsburgh Steelers traded Super Bowl XLIII MVP Santonio Holmes to the NY Jets – the Vikings won’t play Pittsburgh in 2010 but they will visit the Jets at some point during the 2010 regular season. In a loss to the Steelers last season, the Vikings held Holmes to just 2 receptions for 59 yards and no TDs.

The trade represents yet another notable addition for the Jets offense after they signed free agent RB LaDainian Tomlinson earlier this offseason. There are also reports that the Jets are in talks with free agent DE Jason Taylor, who played with the Miami Dolphins in 2009.

What we don’t know is if these additions will help improve the Jets for 2010. While the players added – Holmes, Tomlinson and potentially Taylor – are certainly big-time names, they are also question marks. Tomlinson was released by the San Diego Chargers and will be 31 when the season starts, Holmes has been suspended 4 games by the NFL for violating the league’s substance abuse policy and Taylor will be entering his 14th season.

But what we do know is that all of the Jets offseason activity plus the fact they appeared in the AFC title game in 2009, paired with the high-profile nature of the Vikings following their appearance in the NFC title game, makes the Vikings-Jets matchup in 2010 an intriguing one that might be worth showcasing on a unique stage…such as a Thanksgiving night game in New York.
