Vikings Sign Trio Of UFAs
Posted by on April 12, 2010 – 10:22 amAs mentioned earlier this morning, the offseason program began Monday for players with 4 or more years of experience.
And speaking of players with 4 or more years of experience, a trio of them who were also unrestricted free agents (UFAs) signed their tenders and are now under contract with the club.
OL Ryan Cook, DT Fred Evans and S Eric Frampton each signed their RFA tenders. All 3 players held significant roles with the Vikings in 2009. Cooks is a versatile player who can play all along the offensive line, Evans is a key reserve in the Vikings DL rotation and Frampton is a core special teams contributor who also provides depth at S.

Viking fans – who makes the “final say so or veto power” in the Vikings draft War Room?
Is it Rick Spielman or Brad Childress?
I would bet that Spielman gets credit for making the Jared Allen trade happening….since Spielman’s role is to identify and assemble talent.
- – - However, was it Childress or Spielman that decided on and/or “pulled the trigger” on the Adrian and Harvin draft selections?
- – - Who gets the blame when draft picks don’t turn out (especially high picks)?

No blame or credit is shared with personnel acquisitions or non-acquisitions. It’s a team effort. There’s a saying that coach Childress once shared that I thought was very appropriate: “It’s not about being right, it’s about getting it right.”
