Thoughts On Preseason Opponents

Posted by Ryan Cardinal on March 31, 2010 – 3:16 pm

Earlier today, the Vikings 2010 preseason schedule was released.  You can read more about that by clicking this link, but here are the key points:

Game 1 – August 13 or 14 at St. Louis

Game 2 – Sunday, August 22 at San Francisco – 7 p.m. on NBC

Game 3 – August 27 or 28 vs. Seattle

Game 4 – Thursday, September 2 vs. Denver

  • Three of the four games are against teams from the NFC West.  The Vikings went 3-1 vs. that division last year in the regular season, with the only loss coming against the Cardinals, who are the only team from said division Minnesota doesn’t play in the upcoming preseason.
  • The exact dates / times the three games without said info may not be available for a while.  Not a huge deal since they are just preseason games, but at the same time it’s frustrating that they don’t have that info buttoned down from the get-go.
  • The Vikings play their first two games of the preseason on the road and then the final two at home.  Always nice to have the third preseason game, often the only one that the starters play more than a few series, at home.
  • Pretty cool to have a Sunday night game that’s nationally televised on NBC.
  • In the first game against St. Louis, the Rams could be showcasing a high-end rookie quarterback, since they have the first overall pick in the Draft.
  • The Seahawks could have a much different feel to them than they did last November when the Vikings beat them at Mall of America Field, with new head coach Pete Carroll at the helm.
  • Wonder if the 49ers are a little steamed still given the way the last meeting between these two teams ended?

What are your thoughts?

Looking forward to the upcoming season, I’m ready to watch the Vikings every week. This year is our season, with the chemistry with Brett Favre and the rest of the team, our chances look awesome and I’m ready for us to celebrate the Vikings Super Bowl win!!!!

I think this will be a very good test of our defensive backs. The teams we are playing have solid passing QBs.

FAVRE, the Lord High Executioner of Lambeau, will be the QB for the Vikings in 2010 – take it to the bank!

Pretty slow day in sports news and being opening day soon for mlb and close to weekend do not be surprised if our boy Brett Favre gets us going a little!!

It will be another great year as long as Brett comes back! Last year was so exciting! Brett has such magnificent chemistry with his players! I am so eager for another year with awesome Brett and our great team! Love you guys! You are all the best!

go T-Jack! Just retire Farve, you overrated hack. Vikes would have won the superbowl without you! Farve hates god and it has just been reported that there have been allegations of Brett in a ga y relationship. OMG!

    we want brett back!

I never wanted Favre as a Viking. Last year so many people said that Favre would get us our SB ring but we didn’t even get to the SB (thanks to Bretts 3 turnovers in the NFC title game).

We would never have gotten as far as we did without Brett. If Adrian hadn’t fumbled in the Chicago game the Vikings probably would have won and we would have been home for that last game and the refs would not have let Brett get almost murdered and we would have beaten the saints. We were the better team and we will still be the better team if Brett comes back. You Brett haters are crazy. He is awesome. To do what he did with a new team at 40 years old is just amazing! I don’t know of anyone else that could have done that. Come back Brett!

Robin, Favre fumbled in the first half of the bears game and had 2 turnovers against the steelers which were taken back for TDs. There is 2 games that we could have should have won.

Preseason sucks, I hold my breath everytime one of our guys go down and I just hope it’s not season ending!

As for Brett…he will be back…..I just don’t think our team did anything to improve the team……regarding our pass D ! Our pass D sucks and they did nothing to help it! If we don’t put constant pressure on the QB with our front 4….we are in trouble in every game! If we don’t score 30 plus….we have a chance to lose! That’s just how I see it! I don’t think we will even win our own Division! We will Wild Card it and be 1 and done in the playoffs…with or without Brett! No way we beat Greenbay with that passing game and a much improved D! 10-6 at best! Look at the schedule…..that will beat us down! We will have to go 8-0 at home just to have a shot at the playoffs!

LOL at thoughts on preseason. Don’t care and never will.

OLDSCHOOL the hard schedule is a good thing imo. Nobody to play down too and we won’t have to hear people say the Vikings are overrated (all the “Who did they play?” nonsense from last year).

You don’t know what you’re talking about with the pass D stuff. You must not know about these stupid rules in this no cap year. Only way Vikings could have signed someone good is if they lost Winfield. Not sure a good player was available anyway, maybe Dunta Robinson.

People slamming Favre too much. Obv the guy is a little braindead but come on he played awesome against the Saints.

Berrian and Harvin fumbles, 12 men in the huddle and the refs are what did us in. Funniest part of the game is at the end when Sean Peyton jumps in the air to celebrate the win. There’s a ref by him with a huge frown on his face. Gee I wonder why.

Genius OT rule change by the NFL, they make it look like they wanted Favre in the Super Bowl. Not fooling me. (Half joke/half serious conspiracy theory)

whoever blames favre as the soul reason we lost the nfc championship game is a total fool.brett held os in when ap was fumbling and when rice dropped that important pass, and yes favre made a bad mistake but he did what was asked of him and anyone thinks that play will be what he wants to be remembered for as a viking ur as crazy. He will be back because of that play. I will bet anyone he will be back, he knows the game was in hand and his int killed us and he wants to make up for that. I know with him we have the best chance ever to go all the way next yr and trust me we will see the ap of old and rice, harvin and the other recivers will rise even more.So in closing I say we will get probally westbrook who will be a good back even now and add a corner and we will be ok.

Sounds good OLDSCHOOL. I don’t really disagree with what you said. Except for the improving the pass D part, like I said there was nothing they really could do. Hopefully Vikings get NE and the Jets early. Less cold the better.

Just to one up ya I’ll say 11-5 and another division title. Lions are gonna put a beating on GB.
