For Favre, Wilf Willing To Wait

Posted by Mike Wobschall on March 22, 2010 – 3:19 pm

Vikings Owner/Chairman Zygi Wilf is in Orland at the annual NFL Owners’ Meetings, which is why you’ve likely heard sound bites or quotes from him on several league issues – including the proposed change to the structure of overtime.

Another issue that Wilf has commented on, however, is his starting QB – Brett Favre – and whether or not #4 will return for his 2nd season with the club in 2010.

Both Head Coach Brad Childress and VP of Player Personnel Rick Spielman have indicated this offseason that they are willing to be patient with Favre and give him the time he needs to make a decision on his return. Wilf is on the same page and echoed those sentiments to Judd Zulgad of the Star Tribune.

“I really don’t know at this time but like I said before I’d love to have him back and [we'll] just give him the time necessary to make that decision,” Wilf told Zulgad.

While speaking with Zulgad, Wilf also said that he hasn’t spoken with Favre this offseason but that at some point down the road he might just reach out to the future Hall of Famer.

Brett, we all want you back! What you did last year with your new team was so amazing and fun for us to watch! We have watched you play since you started with the Packers and you are the best there is! We were born Packer fans but you taught us it is the people that play the game that you love and admire, not the name of a team. We are so thrilled to be Viking fans now! We love you and your whole new team! What a great bunch of guys! The organization, the coach and all of the players have our total respect! Thanks for our favorite year of football! Please come back and finish what you started! We love you! Your greatness and love of the game makes everyone who plays with you play their best also! Thank you so much! We fell in love with the whole Vikings team! Please, at least one more year! Super Bowl! The magic you have with them is so amazing to watch! We can see the fun you are having with them. Please come back!!!!!

Brett, You’re one of the greatest to watch. Your team is intact from last year, which makes you one of the strongest teams in the NFL. You have an excellent chance of going out with another superbowl win. Also, Ted Thompson is gay, not that I know from experience, and not that there is anything wrong with being gay. But he is gay, and has a man crush on Adam Schein. Thanks for all the years!

You gave us many spectacular seasons and made Sundays a special time for us. This last season was my favorite of all so far and I have a strong feeling you can make this next season the best yet!!!! If you are reading this please come back for one more season and win the Super Bowl that you have been playing for!!!! One more year!!!!

Just one more year Brett!!!! I’ve been a Viking fan foreverrrrrr, and the 2009/2010 season and team was,by far, my favorite ever. Sunday couldn’t come fast enough and I hated Monday night games because I had to wait one day longer. It was fun watching the entire team play because everyone seemed to be having so much fun. You could tell that your team loves and respects you and you them. Teams like this don’t come along everyday. Don’t break the bond Brett, come back one more year. k, thanks.

Brett quit playing with us and make up your goofy mind. We probably wont be as close to a SB as last year due to no Taylor and a tougher road schedule. Just be realistic and quit trying to get attention with your antics.

I’d love it if Brett keeps on playing. Why not? Retirement for real is forever, so why not keep doing what you love?

Looking at the schedule we need Favre badly this season. Otherwise for those who have playstation you’ll have to play the viks on Madden 10 to win 5 games in the season. Sounds like a joke but its reality. Tjoke cant deliver, ever real viking fan knows that Favre breaks the team out of conservatism which inevitable will bring us the Superbowl, just as long as Childress drops the play calling and let Bevell and Brett run the show. Go Vikes.

I agree. The Vikings already had a solid team with the exception of a QB. Here comes Brett Favre on August 18, 2009 to a new team. He turns 40. He plays like he’s 30 and BETTER than most of the QBs in the NFL (as good as Brees/Manning – better at times). I selfishly want him back. They have the weapons to get to the Super Bowl. The Vikings just need to get the HOME FIELD for the playoffs. Let’s all face it…. we GAVE it away in New Orleans. They purposely twisted Brett’s ankle when he threw the first INT. Where was the Brady Rule? Those 5 fumbles hurt. We beat ourselves. Let’s pick up 2 or 3 players and go 19-0 next season. Come back Brett!

I know brett will come back because if he wasn’t, the vikings would be scrambling to get any qb that was available both in free agency and the draft. the fact that they are not doing that tells me they know he is coming back, but they need to beef up the o-line and the secondary. also they should pick up rg shawne andrews and rb brian westbrook and the offense is set. draft taylor mays in the first round and corners after that.

He coming back. It seems so far this off season the Vikings are putting all their proverbial eggs in the 2010 season. To my knowledge there have not been any opportunities to pick up a QB. We have to have a QB soon. If Favre get hurt their season is done. We could limp thru the season but not be the contenders we were in 2009. We have to find a QB in the draft that is under the radar screen because Bradford, Clausen, Tebow, etc will go in the first round. Vikings have been good in the past with rookie draft picks. Lets hope we can do it again.

Please at least one more year Brett. Fran Tarkington was great but you are the best. We haven’t had a quarterback like Fran until you. So please give us at least one more year Brett. The Packers don’t know what they lost with you leaving.

One more year Brett!! you still got it in you and a great team around you!!

i have been a viking tan since i was conceived i used to hate brett cause he was a packer and loved him as a player for the things he did in green bay. I always said that if he became a vikings that he will bring us home our first superbowl ring. I know that brett is coming back. BRETT if u read this the whole world believes in u and would love u to give us diehard vikings fans our dream and i know u are dreaming of it to. please don’t give up give us the ring we deserved 30 years ago. We all want u finish out with a bang like john elway did.

Big Brett! give it another year you just got comfortable with your team imagine the havoc you will bring on the field. i’ve been a fan before i could walk and will ALWAYS love the vikings and they are well over due to bring home a ring!! i remember watching tarkenton when i was a kid and watching the vikings last year was awsome. so suit up cause you are a true soldier just like the rest of the team. get-r-done!!!

    Brett will be back !

  22. By marcus on Mar 25, 2010 | Reply

too be honest i love brett and the skill set and the chance he give the vikings for another run! but there is rumor that mcnabb is on the market and if i was the GM….i would take note and act swift on this Qb,he also give you a great chance as well? what if brett don’t come back or better yet get hurt again then what? you need a back up plan! they need deep at the qb spot for sure, and patch holes on the front line! you got to keep who ever at QB up right to even have a chance in this league…got get the ground game back on track thats the heart of the offense for the vikings(bread and butter) do run from what got the team back in contention
