A Break From LT To Focus On Decker

Posted by Mike Wobschall on March 11, 2010 – 11:38 am

We take a break from LT watch here on the Blog to talk about another player on the minds of many Minnesota football fans – Gophers WR Eric Decker.

The Cold Spring, MN native had an impressive 4-year career at the University of Minnesota, finishing with 220 receptions for 3,000 yards and 24 TDs in 41 games played. But his time playing college football didn’t come without adversity. Injuries slowed him in 2008 and ended his season in 2009 after just 5 games.

Click here to read what Decker and both Vikings Head Coach Brad Childress and VP of Player Personnel Rick Spielman had to say at Wednesday’s University of Minnesota pro day…

The vikings must find a way to get this kid. Good character is important. I know when I played my coaches preached good character to my team. It allows you to play the game like it should be played. Injuries, yes they suck they robbed me of my last high school game. This kid lost out on alot in his last year of college. He’s going to be great.

Why? We dont NEED another reciever.. This wouldnt be a smart draft choice in my opinion. I know that character is important.. And I know that he is a solid person. But its not on our top needs and it shouldnt even be CLOSE

HEY what about Mark Tauscher from the Packers? He is a GREAT TACKLE and has experience protecting Favre. Mark is quick at blocking the edge and we had problems there last year. The Vikings should check him out!

Kdy May – Agreed. WR is about the last position that we need to be considering right now on offense or defense. If this guy happens to be around by our shot in round 5, it might be worth the choice. But no sooner.

My guess is they would be able to get him pretty reasonable nm.

    Secondary HELP, PLEASE !

    1. We don’t have TJack to trade (he is still a free agent).
    2. His team is already overloaded with QBs, they wouldn’t take that kind of trade even if we COULD offer it!

we need to go after ryan clark of the steelers FS that would be a big up grade to the secondary! and a corner in the draft! LT and G, RB

Dude, Clark signed with the Steelers last week. He ain’t goin anywhere. That being said, We definitely don’t need another top receiver. That’d be nice, to have an abundance of great talent at that position, but the team is weak in other areas. Why strengthen an already strong position when there are other positions that need addressing? Yeah, Decker would make a great addition to this powerful team, but a terrible draft choice.

remember that if Farve doesn’t re-sign nothing will matter. Jackson can’t run this team thats for sure and Rosie hasn’t proved anything! After that we need a tackle to protect! Yes a safety would help too…

Mark Tauscher of the Pack would be great!!! McKinnie has to go! Forget WR. Knee deep in those already. We need secondary help BAAAAAD! LT would be a good pick-up (if he wants to play bad enough, he’ll do as he’s told), Last but not least we need a QB for Farve to work with & mold for the future (cause we ALL know that TJ never did have it, and just forget Rosie!).

we need a lights out or true solid FS to help out over the top benny sapp is good, asher allen showing a little skills question mark with griffin and winfild foot is age a factor for him at corner with these days speedy WR?CB, T,G to help the oline out! trade Mckinne and get something back in the draft or maybe a trade for a pick and a player of equal value what you think?
