HOF Class of 2010 To Be Announced Saturday

Posted by Mike Wobschall on February 3, 2010 – 9:36 am

Super Bowl XLIV will be played this Sunday, as the Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints will clash for the NFL’s ultimate prize. Most Vikings fans probably don’t have much rooting interest in that event.

But there is another event this weekend that should capture the interest of Vikings fans across the country – the election of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2010. Former Vikings WR Cris Carter and DE John Randle are among the 15 modern-era finalists who will be under consideration during this year’s selection process.

The Hall’s Selection Committee will meet in South Florida, site of this year’s Super Bowl, on Saturday afternoon to elect this year’s class and then they’ll announce their elections at 4 p.m. CT during a 1-hour NFL Network special, live from the Broward County Convention Center.

For more information on the selection process, this year’s finalists and the Pro Football Hall of Fame, you can click here to visit the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s official website.

though i am a huge chris carter fan, i think jerry rice needs to get in there before him and i think randle is a bit of a long shot

Why can’t Jerry AND Cris get it. Carter has been snubbed twice and SHOULD get it in this time. He is DEFINATELY a Hall of Famer. Favre: ONE MORE YEAR!

true, and a maximum of 7 can get in from the modern era. i hope they both get in

CC definatly desevres it, induct him and rice, JR is probably a long shot, i agree, but cris should be a no brainer, not that i am partial or anything lol

Carter should be a lock, even though all he was able to do is “catch touchdowns”. JR had a motor that hasn’t been matched in the league (Jared Allen is pretty darn close). No one can argue Jerry Rice’s enshrinement, probably the best to ever play the position. TO could learn a lot about both technique, and pure class, from this man. I’d take any, or all of them, for my franchise, in a heartbeat.

Not sure why everybody think that John Randle is a long shot to get into the hall of fame. Not saying he will get in this year but he deserves to be there for sure. He is 6th on the all time sack list. He leads all DT who have ever played the game in sacks. He is a 7x pro bowler, 6x first team all pro, and NFL’s 1990’s all decade team. Like Patrick said he had a motor like no other and besides have you seen that mans guns. HUGE!!

Carter HAS to go in !! He already should have been in by now. Its just not right that he hans’t been put in, since there are not any receivers in the HOF wiht better stats or receiving skill than Cris Carter !! Sure Rice ought to go in as a 1st ballot guy, but his eligiblity should not take away from Carter..who is now in his 3rd year of eligibility, which never should have taken this long. Get this right HOF voters!!
It would be skol special to have both Carter + Randle go in together, representing the best offensive & defensive talent on our Vikings from the 90’s, and teammates as well. If the HOF voters get this right, then plan a trip to Canton this summer Viking fans…Skolt will be going !

I grew up a semi saint’s fan from mississippi, but found myself pulling for favre in the championship game,it’s weird that he has that affect on people. I just wanted to say thank’s to viking fans for supporting a fellow mississipian, even if favre retires i will always be rooting for the vikes just because of the class they have shown as fans and front office.

Cris and John should both make it in. They were both great football players. I hope our team we have now can stay together so they can become even greater at their positions. They can only improve and they sure gave us a great show this year. Brett, take them to the Super Bowl next year. Imagine what you can do with two years together. It will be another fun year. Good luck Cris and John and go Vikings! Love you all!

I think Carter deserves the honor, but with Jerry Rice there this year, I think Carter goes in next year. As for randle, he was one of my favorites, but I don’t think he played at a H-o-F level for much of his career. He was solid, but I do not think he was H-o-F worthy.

You guys are all crazy…Carter is right there with Jerry Rice and should get in this year..that is a no brainer. As for John Randle….anybody who thinks this man didn’t play at a H.O.F. level shouldn’t be watching football. This man dominated the line when he played,he was as fearsome pass rusher as what’s his face………..the guy that was all coked up..oh yea LT….teams planned their game around him…John Randle you are aH.O.Famer in book

Carter is right in the mix with Jerry Rice so rightfully so Carter should go! And John Randle…nuff said!! My family and I left Minneapolis in 1983 to move to New Orleans but I never stopped being a Vikings fan please believe it…die hard…I don’t care who wins the SuperBowl please know that I am die hard Vikings…Skol Vikings!!

Obviously Rice and Carter are both future hall of famers. Its just a matter of time.
As far as Randle is concerned,he’s right on the cusp and it depends on voters memories of the 90’s whether he can get in.In my eyes, he certainly is a hall of famer.Oh yeah, Colts by 14 on Sunday.Have a good spring all you true Viking fans, and remember,Cowboys Suck!

CC is a no brainer….if he had montana and young, he would have 300 td’s… hands in the game….mr clutch….3rd down and sideline receiver….johnny randall prob a few yrs away…definitely worthy…most sacks by a dt in HISTORY!!!!!!!!!
