AFC Outlasts NFC In Pro Bowl Shootout

Posted by Mike Wobschall on February 1, 2010 – 8:33 am

A quartet of Vikings and 2 TD passes from Packers QB Aaron Rodgers was not enough for the NFC to claim its 3rd consecutive victory in the Pro Bowl, as the AFC came away from the annual all-star game with a 41-34 victory at Sun Life Stadium in South Florida on Sunday.

Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub, who went 13 of 17 for 189 yards and 2 TDs, was the game’s MVP. He hooked up with teammate Andre Johnson for a 33-yard score in the 1st quarter and then later in the 1st quarter also found Broncos WR Brandon Marshall for a 23-yard score.

Another pair of WRs also had impressive performances. For the NFC, Philadelphia Eagles WR DeSean Jackson had 6 grabs for 101 yards and 2 TDs while San Diego Chargers WR Vincent Jackson had 7 receptions for 122 yards and 1 TD.

Adrian Peterson carried the ball just 3 times on the evening but gained 17 yards and also had 1 reception for 5 yards. G Steve Hutchinson played the entire game, as did DE Jared Allen and LB Heath Farwell. Allen finished with 4 tackles and Farwell had a pair of special teams tackles.

T Bryant McKinnie, who earned his 1st Pro Bowl berth, did not play in the game after missing a pair of practices late in the week and then being removed from the NFC’s roster.

It would have been nice to see AP get more carries. The Vikings looked good last night.

Hopefully, the performance of McNabb in the Pro Bowl further cements why we should NOT consider trading for him. Also, AP was open several times in the middle of the field and Romo ignored him instead going for his own receivers who in the final minutes were not productive. Together, Romo and McNabb combined for 3 interceptions!

I have no respect for Bryant McKinnie. First the whole “Love Boat” thing and now begging to get on the pro bowl only to blow it off. He is making the Vikes a laughing stock. Good to see how the culture of accountability has paid off in Minnesota…..

Pam, your right on Mchoke(Mcnabb), I have never liked him or his style of play or lack of it in big games…..the only Superbowl that he was ever in, his own players said that he was throwing up in the huddle during the game…..he is a white knuckler as they say! I would go with T-Jack before him! T-Jack knows our system and had a year under Brett…..let’s just hope some it rubbed off on him and he took some notes!!!!!

Thank god i do not have to listen to these bandwagon vikes fans talking up there team of choke artists for another 2 weeks. After watching that game i couldnt help but to laugh that game was that was the definition of vikings football to a T. Peterson due to the fact that he is a so so blocker and cant catch the ball out of the backfield is as overrated as they come and no were close to what you would consider an elite back couldnt hold on to the ball if his life depended on it u cant even keep this guy in to close a game out or in the clutch he proved that all year. To top it all off giving childress an extension this was the biggest joke ive seen the vikes do since Tice started advertising the randy ratio lol what a joke. Childress calls the game like a 10 yr playing madden on his game console! From the get go the guy starts out the season with an onside kick against the cleveland browns who at that point hadnt scored on there last 7 quarters of football and thats how you start a season with one of the best Ds in the league going against a horrible offense you give them field position and end up trailing at the half! Real head scratcher. Or how about running up the score in the dallas game going for it on 4th down when th game is over and you have a fellow coach over there in wade phillips fighting for his job. NO CLASS! But my favorite call was not sending longwell who has been one of the best kickers in the game all year in for a 50 yard field goal in a dome with 25 secs left in the game for the win in a game where everything that could have gone wrong for the vikings did and to still have a chance to go to the big show after all the turnovers and miscues he doesnt send in the fiel goal unit and gives the saints hope for a turnover trys a few up the gut runs and then gets that 12 man in the huddle call thats hillarious you dont see that in college ball forcing them to put the ball in the air and what do you know! All in all the saints should have showed as much class as the vikes did the week before and and walked the vikings over the game ball cause that hole squad childress especially deserved to be the saints MVP of that game!! The MN choke artists are the funnest football team in the league to root against they always make you so happy and its always great to listen to the band wagon fans hate on them after words! All in all i cant wait for things next season there looking up rite? 1.Childress the fearless moron leading the squad for another t years to come. 2.Brett Favre most likely retiring (thank god he came here for one season to get childress his ext)LOL 3.half of the williams wall of roids pat thinking about retirement. This was there chance and 1 yr window who knows how long it will be it. Its been 12 yrs since 98. Will it be another 12?
    GO Vikings:)

at leaast the vikings made it to the championship, the chargers are the choke artists of the NFL, going undefeated for the last 11 games and loosing to the jets.

great, there are still people like cole spamming teams they hate’s websites. what a great and freindly nfl fan community

cole is making some fair observations but he dosn’t have to be a queef about it

  9. By moskau on Feb 3, 2010 | Reply

like fans really care what you have to say, what are you a fan of? the lions? saints? or perhaps you are another cowboy fan still sore over there devastation to the vikes

  10. By jbork88 on Feb 3, 2010 | Reply

even if the saints win the superbowl i would never be a saints supporter or even root for them against another team i hate, it took them over 10 years for them to havee a none loosing season, 20 for them to make it to the playoffs, and almost another 20 for them to win a playoff game, so a grand totla of 4 decades to even appear in the super bowl, now i don’t know what brand of alcohol or what you are smoking cole but around the nfl most people like to root against teams who win the big games, not ones who just make it to the championship and have a decent regualr season. like the patriots

  11. By jbork88 on Feb 3, 2010 | Reply

yes the vikings choked and i will never forgive childress for his conservative playing, his extension was questionable to me

  12. By josh m. on Feb 3, 2010 | Reply

bandwagon team? the vikings? the saints are the very definition of a bandwagon team, at least the vikings have had more than 7 winning seasons in their franchise history, cole = dumb@$$

  13. By arrowhead on Feb 3, 2010 | Reply

true, only 4 other teams have a higher winning percentage in their franchise history. Cowboys, Bears, Dolphins, Packers. and unless you are a fan of one of those teams cole i would shut the f*** up

even if you were a fan of the bears or packers, vikings beat em this year 9packers twice) and killed the cowboys, and the dolphins went 1-15 recently, no team, and i mean no team, is perfect or can claim they are the best, just their fans claiming they are

  16. By SaintsFANATIC on Feb 3, 2010 | Reply

even if you loose a big game, say the championship, that dosn’t mean you suck, you had to win some game to get there, it’s just that another team was potentially better than you

  17. By SaintsFANATIC on Feb 3, 2010 | Reply

or cole, it could be like when the vikings performances in 68, 69 and then go on to win more championships and appear in superbowls the following decade

  18. By jbork88 on Feb 3, 2010 | Reply

who were considering them to have an elite back cole? lots of people were claiming they had problems and needed to fix them, even vikings fans. There is a perfect example of some ramdom guy running is random mouth

  19. By jbork88 on Feb 3, 2010 | Reply

    and that is cole

i’m glad my saints won, but if you think the vikings suck than you are as stupid as everyone here is saying

Oh and hey Arrowhead trash talking is done in the games and out of games and by fans of different sports all around the world no need to get all A** hurt you guna cry all day long ??? And for your info im a packer fan and i believe that is one of your 4 teams on that list. Oh and KYWEAVER congrats on the vikes beating the packers twice this year. You think that was there goal this year beat the pack twice or too actually know that wonderful feeling of winning a championship cause we have a few of those over here but way to win those regular season games.

  23. By Cole T on Feb 3, 2010 | Reply

I never said once the vikings suck you would have to be a stubborn idiot for not giving them credit for a season like that ! What i was saying is that they always find a way to choke and that starts up in the front office as well and giving a coach like childress an extension is a head scratcher everyone knows his ass is canned if favre doesnt come save it how about having whoever it is doing there draft day decisions coach this squad as well cause whoever is making those decisions has his head pulled out of his A** unlike others in this organization. and Bandwagon= not being able to sell out the first home playoff game the vikes have had in 8,9 years last year after fox granted them ext after ext and eventually just bought it out so the game wasnt blacked out.Thats a decent amount of time between home playoff games and for fans to not wana go support there team in a playoff game speaks for itself. Then what do you know favre comes along and all a sudden you typical fair weather bandwagon fans wana start buying tickets and supporting your squad well is it guna go back to normal next year if favres not here or your teams not as good. Bandwagon has nothing to do with consecutive winning seasons –JOSH M– maybe you should stop typing before people think all vikes fans are as stupid as you!

you have a point there, they do like to choke at the end, i will not even attempt to deny that

  26. By arrowhead on Feb 3, 2010 | Reply

the packers have always impressed me, most of my family is a packer fan, they are community owned and have piled up so many win over the years (besides 70′s and 80′) and their fans loyalty is somehting that can stand the test of time. and rogers had a spectacular year. see? i’m not ripping on the packers and them losing to arizona. so why are you ripping on the vikings for losing to the saints? the choked, sure, but a loss is a loss and hopefully they can make up for it next year.

  27. By josh m on Feb 3, 2010 | Reply

the packers are a great team, i see no point in saying they choked to the cardinals in response to cole being a packer fan, they had a good run till the end. it’s just that i don’t see why the vikings are a band wagon team when they’ve sold out over 120 games consecutivaly, it’s not as impressive as the packers loyalty but it is better than the saints

  28. By josh m on Feb 3, 2010 | Reply

i also agree cole, that an extension childress was questinoable for how he coaches, he plays to not loose. he reminds me of dennis green. we need a coach willing to take risks to win a game

  29. By josh m on Feb 3, 2010 | Reply

like towards the half in the cowboys game, he just told favre to hand the ball off to freakin peterson rather than trying to score a touchdown before the half was over

josh moron- Didnt we win that game 34-3? The two best backs in football wear #28,the Vikings have one , the Titans the other!
