Why don’t vikings run a wildcat formation? with AD, taylor and harvin? it would be amazing if they could manage to get it going.

  2. By mikewobschall on Jan 19, 2010 | Reply

The reason I don’t think the wildcat is a great fit in Minnesota is because the Vikings have Favre. And I wouldn’t want to take Favre off the field when the rest of the offense is on the field.

Can someone please tell me why was Darren Sharper was let go? I’ve been asking this question for a while but no one seems to give me an answer. (I know he was a free agent but why didn’t Vikings resign him?)

I agree use Harvin like they did in Florida a little more, Give him 5 plays a game running or trickery. It changes it up maybe Adrian busts a big one off a handoff from Harvin, Has anyone noticed how obvious Favre is when they are handing the ball off he just holds the ball out there for the defence to see?

Awesome game Sunday, guys!! Your enthusiasm and desire to win came right through the TV–I so wish I could be there to cheer you guys on in New Orleans. Teamwork is key–put your teammates above yourselves and great things will come. Each of you and your part on this team makes great things happen. I applaud the team in not talking trash through the press: it shows that you’re focused on the task at hand. You guys CAN DO IT….no one person can win this game…..all of you have shown what working together can do. Forget the noise, being on the road and all the other distractions this week. YOU GUYS ARE CHAMPIONS–focus on that and on each other–most importantly, HAVE FUN and let’s rock this game and the Big Easy. You guys deserve it!!! I see you guys in the Superbowl…..now, just play the game!! ^5 to all of you!!

    GO VIKES!!!!!

    this is for Nate F.

Nate, the vikings run whats called a cover 2 defense. you just stay in your zone area and cover that area. not much fun. and sharper did mas o menos in this position. hes got great skill. but when he went to NO he was given more freedom from the zone coverage which allowed him to make plays instead of waiting for the plays to come to him. our D style didnt match his play coverage. so we got rid of him and now he is doing great in a system that matches his style. notice our cover d is different the saints cover d. and you never hear anything about how good or how bad our safety’s are because of that. waiting on plays…..

So… since little Henderson’s suspension is up, any chances will see him this week?

  10. By Dennis on Jan 19, 2010 | Reply

Do you think that the presents of Favre over this past year and maybe next year will help a lot in the development of T.J and J.D.B. or do you think the Vikes will be looking elsewhere for their future signal caller?

  11. By louis on Jan 19, 2010 | Reply

u whip my cowboys. Is Mr. S. Rice any relation to the Hall of Fame Mr.Jerry Rice? If not, he may start claiming Mr. S. Rice as a future H. of F.

  12. By mike stumpf on Jan 19, 2010 | Reply

why dont the viks run a.p. out of a 4 wide set and spread the defence he is such a strong runner i think it would get him 2 the 2sd level and give him a chace 2 break some big playes if run isnt there then pass

Great game Vikes. Now onto N.O. Keep fpcused and no-one can beat you. GOOOO VikeSSSSSS

    To Dennis:

Vikings release JDB in like week 3 or 4, and he has since signed elsewhere. If Favre doesn’t come back, our returning QB’s would be T-Jack and Sage. Honestly, I was a little disappointed that we never got to see sage in relief this season. I would have really enjoyed seeing him with a few downs.

  15. By Nate F. on Jan 19, 2010 | Reply

Thanks DTHayer. .But who would have guessed the Vikings would be facing Sharper for a chance to go to the Super Bowl. I think this is our game if we can get Edwards healthy and make sure we don’t cause any turnovers. I know the touchdowns to sidney on sunday were great, but if you look at them carefully especially Favre threw the ball under pressure and the safety covering sidney had no clue the ball was thrown. Had he turned around that would’ve been an interception. I’m not trying to stir up any negativity but we need to do better at protecting Favre in the pocket. Overall it was sweet crushing The Dallas Cowboys for talking all that trash about Minnesota and Favre.

Vikings & Jets in the super Bowl are my predictions but I hope we don’t overlook the Jets.

  16. By rap99 on Jan 19, 2010 | Reply

PLEASE don’t depress me by talking about TJ. i agree SKOL, i would have liked to see sage also.

  17. By Rick J on Jan 19, 2010 | Reply

My comment is that the Vikings are poor sports. What a classless unit. I can’t wait until Dallas whips them next in the Metrodome. I will be cheering on the Saints on Sunday as well. I shouldn’t be too upset, however. If it wasn’t for the Vikings, my Cowboys would probably have 3 less trophies! Ha! I hope they make it to the Superbowl and the score gets “run up” on them. Justice would be served!

Give me a break! Winfield to the Pro Bowl? He had to have missed at least 6 or 7 games. The Vikings players and coaches must have been allowed to vote multiple times.

  19. By jim on Jan 19, 2010 | Reply

Rick j – We as fans had to listen for a week how the Vikings didn’t stand a chance against the cowboys. The Vikes totally dismantled your boys. Brookings showed more intensity going after Farve with back turned then he did the rest of the game. If you noticed as soon as Jared stepped forward Brooking started walking away. Be a man and admit you got beat by a fired up team. If the cowboys don’t want to get scored on stop them.

I’ve been watching TV and I noticed that AP sets pretty far behind the Quarterback, he seems to have better hole when he is closer. My question is could this be the reason ? AP is not getting the monster yardage as in the past.

  21. By Benson on Jan 19, 2010 | Reply

Hey Mike, do you think percy will have a bigger role in running the ball? because he seems to be effective at it.

Any chance the Vikes practice at night this week to prepare for next sundays late start game? Just wondering because they didn’t do well in the past couple late regular season sunday night games.

Do they still pipe in the crowd noise in the (metro dome)

  24. By moorevikes on Jan 19, 2010 | Reply

hard to believe we still have cowboy fans on here whining. like i said before owner, players, and most fans; spoiled little kids cry when they don’t get their way or lose at something. enough of the temper tantrum cowboy fans or i’ll send you to your room without dinner.

What was the deal with Visante Shiancoe on Sunday. He didn’t get much playing time and they never really said anything during the game. We could have really used him and WILL need him against the Saints.

I want to pass a message to Karl Dunbar, Def. Line Coach…
I knew you at LSU when you were hanging out at my girls dorm (Graham Dorm) checking out the lady tigers and you were always a stand up, sweet hearted person. A few mths. ago, I saw you on TV while watching a game and after 20+ years, I recognized you and was so excited to see you again. I’m making a plea to you because I know how talented you are…..GO GENTLE ON MY SAINTS! You know the agony we have gone through! Best wishes you to you (except on Sunday) LOL.
PS…I need a lock of hair from Brett for my Voo-Doo doll…..LOL just kidding.
It was awesome to see you again.

u gotta kno its da vikings allday born nd raised so its vikings no matter wat minnesota i think we shuld have our defense on fire again like we did da dallas cowgirls and protection like they was giving farve in that game and we will have this game give harvin da ball a couple of times den dey will have their eyes on him untill athey give a low 1 to peterson and he out dere for da TD use good stratgys and we’re good wwe shuld run ova da saints

  28. By rayson on Jan 20, 2010 | Reply

This is coming from a hated packer fan, I hope Minnesota isn’t too disappointed when Farve chokes in the big game on sunday. Remember, he threw the interception to keep the packers out of the super bowl about…what…2 short years ago!!
Wisconsin will never get over his disloyalty!!
    GO SAINTS!!!

Just make the Superdome your home, use the noise for the strength we’ll need to win this game and move to the Super Bowl. Play smart and alert.

Toby, i think they were using kleinsasser quite a bit to try and take the pass rush away. Shinacoe wasn’t needed. He will be needed this weekend though.

Do u think the vikingss will sign Ray Edwards to a long term extension?

  32. By Dthayer on Jan 20, 2010 | Reply

    For Dennis and SkolVikings:

QB options: Philly is sounding more and more like they are the kolb bandwagon. players look up to kolb not mcnabb. mcnabb maybe gone next year. if so vikings should pick up mcnabb. you would have a similar player in harvin like you do desean jackson. and a leet Wide out in S. Rice. where philly just didnt have that. plus a good TE and Run game would make mcnabb a leet QB.

  33. By Dthayer on Jan 20, 2010 | Reply

    For Paul:

About the crowd noise. they pump alot of noise in from fans and extra noise during their practice. they should do well in the superdome.

another thing to consider. we have not done so well in night games. but let us consider that those were not in domes. and in the cold. also the vikes beat the saints last year. w/o favre or rice or harvin. we really should have demolished them if it werent for R. Bush’s monster returns. we stop them on special teams and go at it strong. yeah bree’s will get his yards and a td or 2. but we will be more explosive then gus ferotte and bobby wade were. let alone berrian. who i think needs to step up his game for this show case.

another thing to keep in mind is the cowboys were successful in their pressure on bree’s hes not superman. he does bleed. pressure him. and we can. our D is better then Dallas’s. We can pull through this. but its not going to be easy by any means. now that lance moore is back. shockey is there. and colston is playing hot. stop the run. cover the pass!

    Go Vikes!

I am hoping that Ray Edwards is okay and will be back 110% like he was against the Cowboys. I heard they (Coaching Staff) was playing by ear if Ray will be playing Sunday’s night. If not, I would like to THANK him for his Efforts and a Great Season and hope we see him next year for another great year !

Rayson – All you Favre haters need to realize Brett wanted to play, but the front office wanted to move in another direction – Mr Rodgers.
The Packers must of thought that Brett had something left in the tank, because they didn’t want Brett to go to the Vikings. So get over it move on with life and the love for your team. If you want to be upset look in the front office.
    Go Vikings

How good of a player is Erin Henderson? Will he be replacing Jasper Brinkley at MLB now that he is off of suspension?

  37. By Nate F. on Jan 21, 2010 | Reply

Do you see Michal Vick a fit for the Vikings next year or so?

Imagine the run game then. Adrian Peterson, Chester Taylor, Percy Harvin and Michael Vick all running machines. Plus Sidney Rice and Percy Harvin can both throw the ball

  38. By AARON SR. on Jan 21, 2010 | Reply

IS BRETT FAVRE CHANGING TOO MANY PLAYS TO THE DETRIMENT OF A.P. GETTING CARRIES AND TURNING THE VIKES AWAY FROM RUNNING MOST OF THE TIME FOR TIME CONTROL?
THE REASON I ASK IS IT WOULD SEEM AS THOUGH LAST YEAR HE WAS BALL CONTROL AND NOW WHEN YOU START A GAME AND WHEN YOU ARE AHEAD, YOU BARELY GIVE A.P. ANY TOUCHES. ANY GOOD BACK OR ABOVE AVERAGE NEEDS 20 – 35 CARRIES A GAME.
ALSO, FAVRE HAS TAKEN OVER THE TEAM AND NOW HE IS PICKING AND CHOOSING WHAT TYPE OF PLAYS ARE ULTIMATELY CALLED AND THAT IS NEGATING A.P.

  39. By AARON SR. on Jan 21, 2010 | Reply

WHY, WHEN THE VIKES ARE AHEAD, (AS AGAINST DALLAS), DO YOU NOT LET THE 2ND OR 3RD STRING QBS PLAY? I KNOW FAVRE HAS THAT MENTALITY THAT HE SHOULD ALWAYS BE IN AND WILL PITCH A FIT IF THERE IS ANY HINT OF BEING TAKEN OUT, LIKE IN GREEN BAY DUE TO THAT LAME STREAK OF CONSECUTIVE GAMES PLAYED AND A FEW WEEKS AGO,WITH HIS SELFISH OUTBURST AND SHOWING UP THE COACH AND TEAM BUT PLEASE DO NOT LET HIM POISON THE TEAM WITH HIS PRIMA DONNA NONSENSE.
HE HAS RELEGATED THE OTHERS TO THE BENCH, BUT THEY NEED LIVE REPS ALSO. AND IF HE GETS HURT THE VIKES CANNOT BLAME IT ON THE OTHER NEGLECTED QBS. THEY NEED TO FEEL THAT THEY BELONG, ALSO.

  40. By Dthayer on Jan 21, 2010 | Reply

    Aaron:

AP got 26 touches against the cowboys. since AP’s near 1800 yds last year. every team has been geared to stop the run. even teams that are not necessarily good at stopping the run. they are determined to do w/e it takes to stop AP. and let favre try and throw against them. this only worked for the panthers, cards, and bears defense. when we lost. it would be foolish to run the ball when you got 8 men lined up in the box. so every time favre see’s this he changes it. or should. like any smart QB. you got man to man coverage on the outsides. GG sidney rice touch down. try to blitz. stop the run. we will burn you with our wide outs. or a quick screen pass to AP or chester taylor. Favre is not poisoning the team. defenses just stop our run. we need to open bigger holes in the o line. and then see what happens.

  41. By dante on Jan 21, 2010 | Reply

ADRIAN PETERSON HASNT BEEN RUNNING THE SAME. LATELY HE HAS JUST LOWERED HIS HEAD HITTING THE PILE FOR 2 YARDS??? HE NEEDS TO HIT THE HOLES AND GET OUTSIDE WHERE HES AT HIS BEST. AND START RUNNING DEFENDERS OVER AGAIN AND YOU WONT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT BEING STRIPPED. IF HE PUNISHES A FEW DEFENDERS AND RUNS THEM TO THE GROUND, THEY WONT TRY TO STRIP HIM SO MUCH. IT HAS BEEN FRUSTRATING WATCHING HIM RUN LIKE THIS FOR THE LAST 8 OR SO GAMES. HIT THE HOLE OR GET OUTSIDE!!!!!!, DONT JUST DUCK BEHIND UR LINE INTO THE PILE FOR 2 YARDS. GET INTO THE OPEN, AND IF THEY GET IN THE WAY RUN THEM OVER.

  42. By Bruce on Jan 21, 2010 | Reply

Sound like Aaron is a Favre hater and maybe a Packer fan or Saints fan incoqnito. FYI Aaron, AP receptions and yards after recpetion and touchdowns are way up from last year. Secondly, the O-line has struggled at times opening up holes for AP and his yards per carry is down. Why keep doing the same thing over and over if it isn’t working? You have ione of the best QBs in the history of the NFL to play the game at your disposal. USE HIM! Plus you have some real talent in the receiver corps. USE THEM! Personally I think they should cut down on running AP up the middle and have him slide out to the edges. He is quick enough and powerful enough to get around the LBs and DBs when he has a full head of steam. Just my thoughts…
