Cold And Wind Expected At Kickoff

Posted by Mike Wobschall on December 28, 2009 – 10:02 am

One of the games that jumped out immediately at me when glancing at the Vikings schedule for the first time back in April was a late-December game against the Bears in Chicago at night.

That was sure to be a bitter-cold experience, I thought.

And it will be. The temperature is actually pretty moderate right now at 30 degrees. But it’s not getting any warmer as kickoff nears.

On top of that, the wind is a-howlin’ here in the Windy City – gusts are up to 21 mph right now.

According to, the game-time temperature will be 23 degrees with an 18 mph wind that will make it feel like it’s 9 degrees. Precipitation is not expected.

I have a feeling the temperature will be even chillier as the Bears look up at the scoreboard at halftime. Precipitation in the form of Bear’s fans teardrops are a definite possibility.

All we gotta do is play like the loaded team we are and……KEEP AWAY FROM PENALTIES!!! See what I’m sayin’? I’ll leave the light on for ya’!!! Get it in gear guys, and show ‘em the back door.

Not a good recipe for Favre. Given his track record in the cold, let’s hope the running game and defense both make their contributions to help take the load off Favre.

Prescription: a heavy dose of AD mixed with occasional screens

Vikes be watned. Bret does not have a good track record against Chicago late in the season when the weather is bad. Remember his last two performances in cold windy weather? Loss to NY Giants in final playoff game 2007 season, and what do you know,..loss to the Bears at Soldier Field last game of the regular season. In both games he looked terrible. Sounds like the weather is exactly the same, and now we have the usual Farve drama that some of us in Green Bay got so sick of… Good luck tonight.

Please remind our coaching staff to give the ball to Adrian Peterson. He’s good.

Honestly, the Vikings need to realize they will never never win a Super Bowl in modern times. They just ain’t that good and never will be.
