Vikings Land In Charlotte

Posted by Mike Wobschall on December 19, 2009 – 5:40 pm

A wicked winter storm system has caused massive disruption up and down the East coast, forcing the NFL to alter its Sunday schedule. The Chicago Bears have even had trouble leaving the city for Baltimore for their game against the Ravens tomorrow.

We had no such trouble this afternoon and have landed in Charlotte for tomorrow night’s game against the Panthers. The team has settled into the hotel and will set its sights on final preparations for tomorrow night’s contest.

The forecast for Charlotte tomorrow calls for no snow but chilly temperatures, with a low tomorrow night of 24 degrees. The destructive winter storm system appears to be well clear of the Charlotte area.

Hopefully it stays that way.

Posted by Mike Wobschall on December 19, 2009 – 10:01 am

Vikings K Ryan Longwell makes a difference for the Vikings by using his leg to kick FGs and PATs. Mia Hamm makes a difference for her team by using her legs to play soccer.

But Longwell and Hamm are making a difference in a young athlete’s life by lending their support.

Bree McMahon is a 17-year-old standout soccer player who lives in the Orlando area. Recently, she was involved in a car accident that resulted in the loss of her leg and both Longwell and Hamm have been a big part of her ongoing recovery.

The Today Show on NBC reported on this story and you can see the Today Show segment by clicking here.

Longwell resides in the Orlando area with his family.
