Vikings QB Brett Favre and RB Adrian Peterson have swept the FedEx NFL Air and Ground Player of the Week Awards for last week’s game.

In the Vikings 27-10 win over the Detroit Lions last Sunday, Favre completed 20 of 29 passes for 344 yards and 1 TD while Peterson rushed 18 times for 133 yards and 2 TDs.

Favre and Peterson were selected from among 6 finalists in Air and Ground categories. The other FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week finalists were QBs Peyton Manning and Kurt Warner and RBs Chris Johnson and Maurice Jones-Drew.

Fans voted for more than their favorite players from last week. The weekly FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week Awards are also a win for local communities. Along with the player awards, FedEx is making a $2,000 donation in the winning players’ names to the local Safe Kids coalition in Minneapolis to support pedestrian safety improvements.

Safe Kids USA is a national non-profit organization that works to prevent accidental injury among children.

Viking have so much depth on Offense, that I wouldn’t be surprised to see a variation of players get the award each week. Also with an occasional defense player like Allen did vs. the Packers 1st meeting. Good going guys and keep it sweet, exciting, and have fun winning.

For years Favre has been the most underrated QB in the NFL, carrying very, very bad teams most years to usually winning seasons, with most years some of the most incapable receiving corps (except for about 3 years) in the NFL. This year he doesn’t have to do it all and it shows. He has perhaps his best surrounding cast and they’re cruising. The ball is not round in football and chance plays some part. But the Vikings are on a path that could very well lead to a Super Bowl berth. It couldn’t happen to a better player.

Packer management for some strange (underline strange in may people’s opinion) reason, didn’t want him any more. I hope they like the results. This has certainly been good for the Vikings and for Favre, an excellant late life combination. I, as about a quarter of former Packer fans, are with you cheering him on.

    Go Brett. Go Vikings.
