Berrian, Winfield Limited; Everyone Else Practices In Full

Posted by Mike Wobschall on November 13, 2009 – 3:38 pm

WR Bernard Berrian (hamstring) and CB Antoine Winfield (foot) were limited in practice on Friday but all other players on the injury report practiced in full as the Vikings begin to put the finishing touches on their preparations for Sunday’s divisional game against Detroit.

The team will work again tomorrow but today’s practice is typically considered the final gauge for players on the injury report.

Berrian is listed as questionable for Sunday and Winfield has been ruled out.

LB Jasper Brinkley (hamstring), QB Brett Favre (hip/groin), LB E.J. Henderson (knee) and WR Darius Reynaud (hamstring) are all listed as probably after practicing in full.

For the Lions, LB Ernie Sims (hamstring) was ruled out while LBs Jordan Dizon (neck) and Larry Foote (knee) as well as DE Dewayne White (toe) are questionable. DT Joe Cohen (ankle), FB Jerome Felton (ankle), DT Sammie Hill (toe), DE Jason Hunter (knee), DT Grady Jackson (knee), WR Calvin Johnson (knee) and QB Matthew Stafford (knee) are all probable.

We need to sit Berrian for a week or two…His Hamstring is never going to heal if he keeps playing each week. Against the Packers he didn’t look like he had his usual burst so why risk our ability to stretch the field later in the season. Get him healthy and then he will be ready for our playoff run.

No brainer vs Lions. Sit Berrian and Winfield. Let’s see some killer instict and put these guys away early. Put in T-Jack for some reps if we can get a 20 point lead or more. The more rested grampa is… the better for our playoff push.

The team should sit berrian, save him for later.I would like to see vikings put up some points early, except this time lets play the game defensively the same way all the way through,do not go into the 4-3 coever2 deep scheme that only lets opposing offenses get right back into the game.We should be putting teams out of thier misery, not giving them a second wind.

I get the “sit Berrian comments. However, is Greg Lewis ready to step up? If we had Wade still I wouldn’t have any problem with the theory to sit Berrian. On top of that, He looked effective against the Packers. He got worse with a week off? I don’t get it.

No, Greg Lewis cannot fill in for Berrian, but, we’re coming off a bye vs. DET, so, quite honestly, it shouldn’t make a whole lot of difference, if we cant beat the Lions coming off a bye at home then something isnt right then…the one thing I would argue is that #4 and Berrian need some cohesiveness together, and that only can happen if Berrian plays…it’s a tough call, but I also see the side where if he does play and it’s still lingering, even if a little bit, that can hamper him the rest of the season, b/c he does stretch the field, and his burst needs to be there…

I want to make one more comment, this one regarding coach Childress…it’s funny hearing ppl say great things about Childress, b/c the ppl who were on this website last year know what I’m talking about…we had ppl coming on here all last year, even when we were winning, and staright up blasting Childress and saying he’s a “horrible” coach and he can’t do this and cant do that…funny what winning can do to someone’s opinion.
