The Vikings don’t play this weekend, but Vikings fans can still join the Purple this weekend in support of a great cause.
On behalf of their Planet Purple initiative, the Vikings will participate in the 2009 Go Green Expo Vikings fans can also participate.
The 2009 Go Green Expo is a 3-day event and is regarded as one of the nation’s premier eco-friendly tradeshows. It will be held at the Minneapolis Convention Center from November 6-8. The event is free to all Vikings season ticketholders who show their Vikings season ticketholder ID card at the entrance.
“Minneapolis is ranked as one of the ‘greenest’ cities in the United States by National Geographic Society’s Green Guide, and it was the next natural destination to add to our growing itinerary of shows across the country,” said Bradford Rand, CEO and Founder of Go Green Expo. “We are looking forward to hosting a great show that will reach a vibrant and active green community.”
Friday, November 6 is reserved for business-to-business interaction, but the general public is invited to attend the expo on Saturday and Sunday, November 7 and 8.
Tickets are $10 for a full weekend pass, $5 for students and seniors with proper ID, and free for children 12 and younger.
On Sunday, attendees can receive free transportation to the show with a complimentary Metro Pass by downloading the Go Greener Pass from the Go Green Expo web site, www.GoGreenExpo.com, courtesy of Twin Cities’ Metro Transit.
Planet Purple is the Vikings organization-wide initiative committed to developing sustainable business practices and utilizing renewable energy in an effort to lessen the team’s impact on the environment. The initiative was developed in conjunction with the NFL’s Green Team and recently wrapped up Planet Purple Week, which featured several community-based and environmentally-focused events leading up to the Vikings October 18 victory against the Baltimore Ravens.
