Favre Greeted With Boos

Posted by Mike Wobschall on November 1, 2009 – 4:06 pm

The game hasn’t yet begun, but the atmosphere is already tense inside Lambeau Field. Vikings QB Brett Favre was greeted with a healthy dose of boos when he came out onto the  field for pregame warmups.

The Vikings were just introduced as a team and were also greeted with boos, as is typically the case when any away team enters the stadium. But then the boos intensified when Favre emerged from the tunnel.

Yeah, it’s going to be a good one here in Lambeau today. And hopefully a great one for the Vikings.

I wonder if Bretts/Vikings are aware that their chats with the playbook are very viewable by anyone watching the screen???

For packers fans, this is like seeing your X happier with another guy. The fact is that Brett is playing with the best team he has ever played with and he is having a great time of it. I wonder what kind of career Bret would have had if he could have played with a hall of fame type of receiver. He could have broken every record in the league and maybe go down as the greatest ever. Instead he was stuck with good to average receivers.

ok dbs stepped up last few series but they still missed some tackles i think i was just blowing off steam i just cant wait til winfield is back

Paymah isnt very good, that’s for sure…I dont understand our defensive mentality in second half’s when we get big leads, every week this happens…Come playoff time, someone is going to shut us down, and our defense is going to have to rise to the occasion or else we will be going home early again…We all know we have the potential to be of championship caliber, but our defense scares me…there was zero pa-ss rush in the second half, our tackling disappeared…I cant understand what the heck happens at halftime, I just dont get it, week in and week out…Look at the Eagles game today…big lead and yet they continued to dominate the entire game, they never let up and they kept attacking, never let the Giants back into the game…who are the leaders on defense when things get tight? Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy, but I’m also disgusted with the way we perform defensively in second half’s…we still have time to improve, but I’m also glad to get to the bye week.

What a bunch of thankless dolts the Packer fans are–Favre played his heart out every Sunday of the season for how many years, and he returns to boos?? The person they ought to be gnashing their teeth at is Thompson.

AMEN RAEGIRL Thompson is the problem – if that’s the way Packer fans feel than it’s Vikings luck all the way. What a game!!!

I’ve been a Packer fan since 1959 but I’m coming over to the Vikings! I love Brett Favre and his love of the game of football! He is passionate about what he does and you have to respect that!!

Who cannot love Brett and his team they have a decent coach and bigger echalon of coaches. Never will I care for the Packers again as long as Bett is not with them. In other words, Packers, YOU SUCK!!!!

Thought I live in Patriots country, I have been watching every Vikings game this season and impressed with each win, and sorry to see the tough loss to the Steelers. I am glad Brett played well today in Green Bay. The first half and the finishing minutes had some great Vikings plays.

I believe it is tough to comment on the situation unless we have gone through it…Who knows how we would react if this happened to us…dont judge someone unless u have been in their shoes…Let’s imagine that Breet Favre played for us for 16 years and did the same things for us that he did with GB, then he left, whether it was his decision or not, he leaves for GB or Chicago…I know for a fact I would not be happy…I honestly do not know how I would feel…if u cheer for him, it’s almost like you are cheering for the other team, and I couldn’t do that…So what I’m trying to say is that I cannot call their fans anything b/c I do not know how I would react.

I feel bad about saying paymah sucks I mean anyone who is in the NFL is there because they have talent. I try to not be negative but sometimes the fanatic comes out in me. Great team win. Favre continues to impress me as a 40 year old QB. Harvin for Rookie of the Year. AD awsome game. O line and D line great job, you guys are where it starts. Enjoy your week off and I can’t wait to take on the Lions. Oh coaches great play calling I loved that they went for it on 4th and 1(both times) even if we didn’t get that second one. It showed me they were willing to win at all costs. Great job Chilly.

Been a PACKER Fan for 43 year’s! What Brett Favre did for Greenbay was put them back on the map! For 16 years! How did his former fan’s greet him? The loudest boo’s I have ever heard for anyone! Shamefull and very poor Sportsmanship. Ted Thompson, Brett gave you what you deserved this season, when you ran him out of Greenbay! Packer Fans need to be booing Ted Thompson, not their living Legend, Brett Favre! Brett just wants to win another Super Bowl. He wanted to win another one for Greenbay butTed Thompson (Greenbay) cast him aside, so why not let him win one for the Vikings? Brett Favre just love’s to play the game of Football!

Don’t judge all Wisconsinlites by the way the crowd was today. Poor sportsmanship of all the boos and the green shirt saying dumb and the purple shirt saying dumber. What about the 16 years as a Packer? I am a die hard Viking fan even tho I have lived in Wisconsin all my live.Brett and the purple gang showed who is the best. How does Thompson fee now? Take us to the super bowl!

Gloria, Dom, and Dawn — I am with you all on this one!!! I’m a Wisconsinite and a Packers fan. The sportsmanship displayed by our fellow cheeseheads was SO disrespectful and rude. Brett played for 16 seasons with Green Bay and this is how WE treated him?! Shameful! Yes, he did sign with our arch rivals which is a very bold move but the guy just want to play ball! I respect him for that. Instead, we boo him…for what? Because Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy wouldn’t let him play…for us! Honestly, I wasn’t rooting for Packers or Vikings…I was rooting for Favre. :) GO FAVRE GO!

I am pleasantly surprised with all the comments on here regarding #4 and others…Having been a Vikings fan since I was 7 (27 now), I always hat-ed GB, but I always admired the way #4 played, with pas-sion and fire…I don’t think I can think of a player I have ever respected more than he. I am glad to see some GB fans in here saying the right thing…Listen, I know he will always be remembered as a Packer, I’m OK with that, that’s where he started his legacy and accomplished his feats…I believe we as Vikings fans all are fortunate to have him on our team, we understand we don’t have him forever, maybe another year if we r lucky, but we aren’t taking it for granted, and I’m glad to see that some GB fans respect what he did for their franchise

What an awesome win. This season is the most memorable since 1998. Hopefully it won’t end like ’98. I am a bit worried about the Vikings letdowns. I mean, they were running away with the game by halftime. There’s no way they Packers should have ever been let back in that game as they were. Don’t get me wrong, I’m thrilled with the team right now at 7-1… but these types games where the Vikings get a big lead and blow it brings back nightmares of the Denny Green debacles.

Favre is fantastic! As a Wisconsinite, I am disgusted with Ted Thompson, Mark Murphy and Packer management. Thompson’s ego could not handle the fact that Favre was not his “find”. Thompson’s camp orchestrated the coup initially by leaking retiirement questions for three years (the start of Thompson’s tenure). GB inferring indecision and diva like behavior. GB then demands a competition for QB, Brett stands ready. GB renegs on ithe QB competition. Brett wants to play. GB doesn’t want him to play. What else could he do?

I’m embarassed for the Packer fans and their unsportsman like behavior.
Packer nation should be upset with Packer management for acting like any other NFL team (no love, no loyalty). Are Murphy and Thompson going to be re-evaluated at season end?

The century long allure is gone for the Green Bay Packers.

  32. By PAVikesFan on Nov 2, 2009 | Reply

The Saints may look like the only threat right now, but, we’ve all been down this road before…it’s not how u start, it’s how u finish…the teams who are playing well after Thanksgiving and into the playoffs are the teams that will do deep…And also, don’t count out the Eagles, man, they’ve been there before and Dallas is ok…the Giants will get it together, remember, it’s never as easy as it looks or seems…

The D is replaced at halftime by clones, didn’t you know? Yea it bothers me too that when we have a great lead at half the D gets lax….way lax. The Steelers game last week wasn’t like that. Hey,we didn’t have the lead in that game at the half. For all the “prows” saying Rodgers was going to have a field day with the secondary Ireally only saw 1 big GB play. Wish the front 4 got to Rodgers in the 2nd half, would of gotten the single game sack record for sure. Chicago has that at 11, guess against who? I was at that game in Chicago. Archie Manning was the QB. 83? Something like that.

I have been a packer fan since I can remember. Everyone knows, the vikings have been a rival. All I remember from when I was younger was cheering on Brett Favre. He has so much heart and loves the game. He was so loyal to the packers he should have left them long ago!! When he got booed on, I was so dissappointed. However, I was so happy when the vikings won! Breet Favre seems happy with them! Peterson is amazing, and as a team, well they make it work!! Week ten- bring on the lions!!!

Yesterday was the worst I have even seen fans act in watching football over 25 years. Brett gave the Packer fans, over 200 wins, 2 NFC Championships, 2 Super Bowl appearances, 1 Super Bowl win and 16 years of dedication without missing even ONE GAME! So what do those CLASSLESS fans do? Not just Boo him once when he comes in for warmups, they Boo him again when he starts, and then they Boo him every fricken down for practically the whole first quarter! Those Packer fans who did that are the most ASSININE, CLASSLESS, CRUEL, UNAPPECIATIVE FANS I HAVE SEEN!!! And then in spite of how badly Brett was treated, he calls them “Special” in his post game conference. Personally Brett, after that I would have said “I have one message for all you fans who continued to Boo me” and then I would have held up both middles fingers! But Brett wouldn’t do that because he has more CLASS in his little finger than all those fans put together have in their bodies!!!

I was truly appalled at the way the packer fans treated Brett Favre. This guy gave them 16 wonderful years and this is how he is treated? You should all be ashamed of yourselves. Grow up!! I hope when goes into the hall of fame he chooses the Vikings. The packers don’t deserve him. Brett is a class act and the Viking fans love him!!!!!!!!!

It’s a football game people! Who cares if Favre was booed. you people act like the fans went to his house and threw rocks. did you not see him smirking when he was getting booed. if anything it fueled his fire. all you hyper-sensitive morons overdramatising the situation need to relax! yes I was surprised they booed him also but I thought it was fun. what did you expect, a ticket-tape parade in his honor? Favre is a big boy who gets paid a ridiculous amount of money to play a game he loves. I think he can handle a few boos. “Favre4everandalways” your comments make me throw up. “Bruce” your comments are a little over the top as well. I think I have seen a some fans act a little worse than the lambeau fans. littering the field with beer bottles in Cleveland for example. It’s a friggin’ football game and he got booed by his old team and I think it was awesome and great for football. Quit your crying you bunch of p u s s i e s!!!!

There are actually many of us… Packer fans who now follow Favre after the Pack traded him. Brett’s a great player and I support any team he’s on. When he retires, I’ll evelauate becoming a Packer fan, which I had been for life. That is… if Ted Thompson (GM) is FIRED!!!
Being a lifelong Packer fan (formerly anyway) I followed the whole seperation story and Brett was the one who was lied about. He showed as much class when they traded him as he did during Sunday’s game. Go Brett! Go Vikings!

Brett Favre understands fans response as well as any player would. His remarkable career including Packers team related 3 NFL league MVP’s, two Super Bowl rings, and continuing personal playing records only attest to a fan’s emotional reaction to this player. I recall no other player, no other quarterback, who left another team for any reason then played for the Vikings and then was targeted by such vitriol by fans. I believe this is the singular indicator that Mr. Favre holds a special place in the hearts of all fans, not just Packer’s fans, that it’s difficult to accept his play for another NFL team. Did Randall Cunningham, Brad Johnson, Warren Moon, or even Fran Tarkenton receive such unwelcome signs of unwelcome when they played their former NFL teams? Brett Farve is a worthy team player; I believe current NFL players, former NFL players, and fans of the NFL game respect and enjoy his attitude and play as a football player.
Brett, you’ve always been fun to watch!

Why dont you say that know?? Or are you so much smarter now?? Glad we could lend him to you for a few years. Also, FRANK…you said that if Brett would of had great recievers in Green Bay he would have broken all of the records. Donald Driver is a Hall of Famer. And Frank…Brett DID break ALL the records, as a PACKER….not a Viking. Thant is the viking mentality!

I stand corrected. Donald Driver in ten years in the league is a clear hall of famer. Didn’t he led the league in receptions in at least one of those years? I would him put up there with Moss or Terrell. A certain first ballot hall of famer. In fact, without him Brett couldn’t have broken those records. Maybe he accounted for 80% of the records. Driver is a fine receiver but come on.

I wonder if Brett won 2 super bowls as a Viking, how would that go over to a Packers fanatic.

What I saw was a football game with much hype and Passion. The Green bay fans can boo all they want. Favre is a big boy he can handle it. The Game was won on the line of scrimage were the Vikings were able to give protection to there QB, and punish the QB of the other team. That is always the way it is drawn up no matter what game you are playing. It is without doubt that with Favre at QB the vikings are a better football team, not just at QB but in the receiving corps. The Defence is showing some holes that will need to be addressed soon. mental mistakes, missed assinments, and soft coverage is hurting in the 2nd half of games. Finishing the game as strong as you start them will show the championship calliber team we all hope you are. The Game is the same, it’s winning the one on one battles every down, every game.

The secondary is clearly the achilles of the Vikes. The problem is exacerbated by a lack of a rush in the late stages of the game. The coaches have to do a better job of rotating defensive lineman to keep them fresh for the fourth quarter. And if they can do that, they would help out the secondary immensely and beat anyone in the league. When Brett said that this is the best team he’s played with, he was particularly mentioning the receiving corps. These receivers are hands down his most talented group. All of them can play. Rice and Harvin are unbelievable and getting better every week. They will give secondaries nightmares. Now if they can just find a running back that can catch a pass above their shoulders…

Wow, beyond being extremely distasteful, the Packers fans’ behavior was completely idiotic. Packers fans should know better than anyone else, that when you’re facing Favre, the last thing you want to do is make the game more dramatic. Let’s face it, the greater the drama, the better Favre seems to play.

To Packer and Viking fans alike: 8 games to go-nothing guaranteed. Great win for the Vikings. The Vikings beat the Packers not Favre beat the Packers. The Vikings worked hard as an organization to get their team in this position and the Packers hope to do the same.It was a defining moment for both teams at this point in the season. Vikings are ready for Prime Time and the Packers are not just yet. My hope is that the Packers can learn something from this and use it in the next 8 games and beyond. I have much respect for the Vikings, yet I will always consider them our arch rival and therefore have no choice but to competitively hate them. The NFC North is till the best division ever! Peace Out!

I know that comment about catching a pass over his head was directed at chester taylor I will defend him. That pass should have never been thrown we had a chance to tie so keep it on the ground. We have chester taylor and ap to pound the ball with so blame that on the coach that made the call.Still taylor has been a good back for us and made many spectacular plays for us and caught many that were bad throws so to throw him to the wolves over that mistake is cray and the pass was also a bad pass,I’ll keep taylor if u don’t mind.
