Vikings To Face Rams On Short Week

Posted by Mike Wobschall on October 6, 2009 – 7:06 am

Following their close win over San Francisco last Sunday, the Vikings had an extra day to gear up for their Monday Night Football showdown with division rival Green Bay.

The flip side to that advantage, however, is that now they’ll have a short week of preparation for their next opponent – the St. Louis Rams.

But Vikings Head Coach Brad Childress will make no excuses for his players or his staff as they head into that short week.

“Good football teams play on Monday night and good football teams find a way to come back and win on the following Sunday,” Childress said during his post-game press conference on Monday night. “So that’ll be the next task at hand.”

One factor that will work in the Vikings favor is that while watching film of the Packers in preparation for Monday’s game, the Vikings saw a lot of Rams film as well because the Packers and Rams played against each other in Week 3.

Next week’s game against the Rams will be played in St. Louis.

Hopefully the Vikes won’t take the Rams for granted and think they’re a pushover. They are, but hopefully the Vikings won’t let up after Monday’s big win.

I’m worried about this game. Hopefully our boys will take it to the Rams early and not allow them to hang around. The reason that I’m worried is we’re coming off two emotional wins, and, after this game, we face three consecutive tough opponents (Bal, Pitt, and GB). I’m hoping to go at least three and one in that stretch. We have a Super Bowl caliber team….and Super Bowl teams don’t give away games to teams like the Rams.

This really is a big game, 5-0 would be huge for the team with some tough games coming up. I really don’t see how the Rams can win, but you never know. I’m a little worried about AP. To me it looks like hes not hitting the holes like he usually does and is making wrong cuts. It’s possible that he’s injured, hopefully he just had a bad game. Look for a big game from AP against the Rams and hopefully we’ll put it away early and get Favre some rest for his 40 year old shoulder.
