Vikings Inactives

Posted by Mike Wobschall on September 20, 2009 – 10:27 am

Each game day 90 minutes prior to kickoff, teams are required to disclose their 8 inactive players and emergency QB. The Vikings inactives are QB Sage Rosenfels, WR Jaymar Johnson, WR Greg Lewis, CB Asher Allen, S Husain Abdullah, LB Erin Henderson, Kory Lichtensteiger and DT Jimmy Kennedy.

There are a couple of changes from last week’s inactives. In Cleveland, DT Letroy Guion was up and Fred Evans was down. This week against the Lions, both Evans and Guion are up but DT Jimmy Kennedy is down. S Jamarca Sanford was also down last week, but this week he’ll be active and will play in his 1st NFL regular season game, while Abdullah will be inactive.

The QB situation will be the same this week as it was in the season-opener. Tarvaris Jackson will backup Favre and Rosenfels will be the emergency QB.

With both Johnson and Lewis inactive, it seems Berrian continues to recover from his hamstring injury and didn’t come away from last week’s game in Cleveland any worse for the wear.

Am I the only one nervous about this game today? I don’t like these games against the Lions b/c we r supposed to crush them but if u lose to them it’s totally embarras-sing. The Lions usually play us tough, especially at their place, plus, it’s their home opener, new coach, new look, new QB. Don’t ha-te me here people, I love my Vikes as much as the next guy, but I could see this one going to them, I’m thinking 20-16. If we let them hang around, it could be dangerous. We have to blow them out and hit em hard early, give them no hope of winning.

I heard that Berrian will not be playing today, is that true. If so, who will settle in his shoes. Gettin’ a little nervous about the WR position today!

Another slow start had me worried. That’s something that they have to address. We might not be so fortunate against better teams if we don’t get things going in the first half. But give them credit, they responded when they needed to. Chad Greenway played great, Favre managed the game well but I’d like to see him take some shots downfield. Right now, defenses can put 8 in the box b/c they don’t respect our pas-sing game. The only way to change that is to make some plays down field. A win is a win, Go Steelers and how bout them Bengals!

the O line seems to be our weak point. favre is under pressure if he holds the ball for 2 sec. this must be corrected. 14/21 last week, 23/27 this week, so this is what it’s like to have a real QB! after years of johnson/bollinger/jackson i forgot what a good QB could do nice to see berrian get some grabs. stafford had too much time most of the game. can’t believe bears beat steelers. GO VIKES

The Lions were trying to protect their overpaid #1 Draft pick today. He had a tough time last week and they didn’t want to lose him this early, so they pounded it out with their running game most of the day. That’s why Stafford had so much time, because the run was working and we had to respect that. It SHOULD be the same way on our side, but the running and passing plays are too easy to predict. It’s much easier to call defensive plays when you know to set up for a run on 1st and second, and a (short to medium) pass on 3rd. Mix it up Childress! You have a QB that can really go wild if you do.

this a a perfect schedule for the Vikes. Start off with some weaker teams and begin to gel while still getting the wins. Greenway did play well however he also missed a couple of tackles in the first half. Strange feeling has come over me this season… such a soft schedule to open, i just expect them to win and i can’t get too excited YET. i don’t think i will feel like the season has really started until we play the packers. after that it is game on! i am getting the feeling that maybe the stars are aligned the right way and perhaps the football gods are with us for a change. i pray we can stay healthy. i am getting a little tired of berrian… i drafted him in my fantasy league and i am thinking it might have been a mistake. good thing i also picked up harvin. anybody else think the ravens are a strong contender? also i think the o-line is going to be okay, it is just that favre is too old and can’t run anymore.

the vikes do have an easy opening part of the schedule but i think the niners will be a lil test for the vikes they held peterson last time they played and i think if farve doesnt have a problem managing games this could be the year for us FINALLY

They should use Farve in ” I deal situations” I as a coach whould have had no problem putting Jackson in on that particular play. 20/20 sure. But learn off that. 53 men and we couldn’t find 7 points. Com’ on man.
