WR Berrian Active; Jackson To Backup Favre

Posted by Mike Wobschall on September 13, 2009 – 10:38 am

The Vikings have announced the active/inactive players for today’s season opener in Chicago Cleveland and WR Bernard Berrian, who has been battling a hamstring injury and whose status for today’s game was in question, is among the 45 active players for the Vikings.

Inactive for the Vikings today will be: QB Sage Rosenfels, WR Jaymar Johnson, WR Greg Lewis, S Jamarca Sanford, LB Erin Henderson, C Kory Lichtensteiger and DT Fred Evans. Rosenfels will be the 3rd (emergency) QB today and Tarvaris Jackson will backup Brett Favre.

It’s interesting that both WRs Jaymar Johnson and Greg Lewis are inactive. That leaves the Vikings with 4 receivers active for today, indicating that Berrian isn’t expected to be hampered by the injury. Berrian was listed as questionable in the Vikings injury report on Friday.

It’s also interesting that Evans is inactive. Looks like Letroy Guion, a 5th round draft choice last year by the Vikings, will get a chance to play significant minutes today behind Kevin Williams and Pat Williams.

The game is NOT in Chicago as we are playing the Cleveland Browns.

Good game by the Vikes today. Favre showed why he was brought in: to manage the game. AP is just a BEAST, 180 yards in week 1 is amazing. The team made some very good adjustments at halftime. Bring on the Lions, GO VIKINGS!!!

outstanding first showing from my mn. vikes exceeded all my expectations ap is mad man i mean to litterally take someone with free arm and man handle them and then burst for the endzone frickin amazing, favre and his receivers will get there, defense is stout (wins championships) could not be more pleased as to what the team did today god i love it the only thing that would make me happier is if both the boars and cheese could both lose tonight

A bit of a slow start, but that was expected. Brett needs some more games to develop some chemistry with the recievers. I’ll give him a pa$$ this game since it’s week 1. However, we can’t expect to be winning games if we r down at halftime to better teams. Pretty good defensively, I thought Cleveland called a very conservative game plan, whiche obviously helped our D. A reoccuring nightmare in the ST department, weren’t we supposed to clean that part up. AP is breathless, he’s unreal. I’m also Chicago lost b/c next week they play Pittsburgh.

favre did what i expected. he will get better as will the entire team. t- jack would have done better. did you see stafford have a hard time in detroit? 3 pics?i wonder if detroit fans treated him like garbage and booed him off the feild? probably not… only in minny.

Pretty good game, Favre was alright and he and the WRs should continue to improve. AP was great, defense wasn’t bad. Little disappointed special teams gave up a TD, but other than that they were alright.
I watch the CHI/GB game last night too and I it looked to me that the vikes played the best out of the 3 teams. I heard Urlacher is done for the season too and the Bears are going to bring in Derrick Brooks.
