Vikings Cut 4, Get Down to 75

NFL teams are required to trim their rosters to 75 players by this afternoon, and the Vikings have cut 4 players in order to fulfill that mandate. Coming into Tuesday, the Vikings had 79 players on the roster.

K Taylor Mehlhaff, DB Derrick Roberson, RB Antone Smith and G Nick Urban were cut today. Those cuts leave the Vikings with 1 kicker, 14 DBs, 6 RBs/FBs and 13 OL.

The next deadline for cuts is on this Saturday, when all NFL teams are required to trim their rosters to 53 players.

Not surprised by those cuts, but there’s going to be a few tough cuts for the Vikes this week.
I’m fairly pleased with how the vikings played, the defense was great and special teams was good. Offense played well, and Favre was much improved compared to last week. The WRs and Favre should continue to improve with more time, it wasn’t perfect but the offense looks promising. It could be another tight race for the division this season.
I like what I saw from Harvin, he looks like he could be a solid contributor this season.

I too agree that the Vikings played well except for all the penalties ie. 13 of them and mostly on the offense. I would love to see them cut down on them especially in the red zone, go Vikings.

I agree about the penalties. But I think that it is mostly about the team becomming familiar with Favre’s cadence, (and Favre avoiding the tempation to injure defenders!) We’ll probably see some opening night jitters on weeks 1 and then 3 when they play the first home game, but after that I’d expect everyone to be comfortable and confident.

With so many veterans on the team I don’t foresee the Vikings or Favre having opening night jitters. If Brady starts for the Browns they might have some Jitters and the Vikes will take advantage of that.
