Packers, Top Pick DT Raji Agree to Deal

Overshadowed by yesterday’s news of the Eagles signing Mike Vick was the fact that the Green Bay Packers and their top pick, DT B.J. Raji, have finally agreed to terms after a lengthy holdout. According to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, the deal is for 5 years.

Signing a 1st round pick is always a significant development, but signing Raji is of particular importance because the Packers continue to transition from a 4-3 scheme to new defensive coordinator Dom Capers’ 3-4 scheme.

In other NFC North news, all 3 of the Vikings division opponents will play preseason games tomorrow. The Lions host Atlanta and Green Bay will host Cleveland, while the Bears will travel to Buffalo.

Vikings Head Coach Brad Childress told Vikings Radio Network play-by-play ace Paul Allen during his daily 9-12 show on AM 1130 KFAN that Sage Rosenfels will start tonight’s preseason game against the Colts.

Childress also said Tarvaris Jackson would play after Rosenfels, perhaps playing into the 3rd quarter. John David Booty will then play for the duration of the game.

Tonight’s game begins at 6:30 p.m. CT.
