NFL Moves Draft to Prime Time in 2010

Posted by Mike Wobschall on July 24, 2009 – 12:03 pm

The premier offseason event on the NFL calendar will become even more accessible to fans next year, as the League announced on Thursday that the NFL Draft will kick off in prime time for the 1st time in 2010. Although the news was announced yesterday, we didn’t mention it because of the Asher Allen signing and the contract extension signed by Antoine Winfield.

According to a press release issued by the NFL, the 1st round of the 2010 NFL Draft will start on Thursday, April 22 at 7:30 PM ET with the 2nd and 3rd rounds on Friday, April 23 at 6:30 PM ET followed by rounds 4-7 on Saturday, April 24 at 10:00 AM ET.

The draft will continue to be televised by ESPN and NFL Network. The 2010 NFL Draft – the 75th draft in NFL history – will again be held at Radio City Music Hall in New York.

“We continue to look for ways to make the draft more accessible to more fans,” said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. “Moving the first round to prime time on Thursday night will make the first round of the draft available to fans on what is typically the most-watched night of television.”

Maybe Brett will have made a decision by then, huh? I hate to be a prude, but I’m sure that there are many more purple blooded fans that are really getting fed up with him sitting on the fence. Until today, the last I heard was that he guaranteed he would definately have a decision by today. Now that guarantee has been rescinded and we have just under a week before training camp begins. Childress needs to give him an absolute deadline. The team is going to be hurt if we wait much longer before he is signed. I am starting to get the feeling that he is still working for the Packers…

i agree purple, i’m tired of this, it has to be affecting the team, this needs to be settled, and we need to sign harvin and loadholt before camp starts. GET MOVING VIKES!

I for one am completely fed up with Favre. He’s selfish and he’s a liability.

TK, vick is a good QB, but i could never forgive what he did, my wife and i have worked with a dog rescue org. for several years, and this is an issue very important to me. i don’t expect everyone to agree with me, but i’m sure some will.

AP296 he served his time in prison (that he deserved), but playing in the NFL is a privalege not a right. i believe there should be consequences for ones actions! the stupidity and cruelty that he showed should be punished!

And so is the Bob Barker treatment. Who are we to decide that they can’t keep their *ahem* tools, just so that they can be more ideal pets?

On another topic, it looks like my gut feeling at the beginning of this thread was spot on. Favre never stopped getting his paychecks from the box factory.

Hmm, haven’t looked much at the Vikes, who are they eyeing up in 2010?
