4 Vikings Make’s All-NFC North Offense

The 4 writers who cover the NFC North for, including Tim Yotter from Viking Update, are putting their heads together to compile a preseason All-NFC North team. They began with the offense, and 4 Vikings made their team.

You can view the team, and reasons behind each pick, by clicking here.

The team looks pretty solid. There’s always going to be viable debates when a group of people get together to compile a preseason all-star team. One change I might have considered was including Vikings TE Visanthe Shiancoe instead of Bears TE Greg Olsen. Don’t get me wrong, Olsen is a fine pick, but Shiancoe projects as a better player this year in my eyes. Although the Bears currently have a better QB situation, I think Olsen will be the focus of every team’s attention when they try to stop the Bears passing game.

In addition to that, Shiancoe really came on last year as a threat in the Vikings passing game. Atlthough he had 12 fewer receptions, Shiancoe did have 2 more TDs than Olsen, double the number of catches of 20+ yards and also better per-catch and per-game receiving yardage totals. Again, it might be a nit-picky complaint, but one worth at least mentioning.

The list seems well decided. The one player that I would argue against is Greg Jennings, simply because he is from Detroit. I think that a man who helped a team go 0-16 has proven that he doesn’t deserve to be on any list of respect. He may be a good player, but there are plenty of other good players at WR who were able to win a game as well.

    *Edit to previous post – – – – – I meant to be referring to Calvin Johnson – – – – – – Jennings is obviously not from Detroit!

I can’t agree there. You could argue that Calvin Johnson is the best WR in the division.

I agree about Shiancoe. I really do think he’s going to have a huge season.

I agree with the team, well done. Though I would probably put Jay Cutler ahead of Rodgers, simply b/c Rodgers has only played one full season. Kuhns, the Packers FB, is also very good. Jennings and Calvin are claerly the best 2 WR’s in the division.

I can agree with those picks, Calvin Johnson probably is probably the best WR in the division, I’d put Berrian as 3rd best WR in the division. Shiancoe and Olsen are close, I think Shiancoe is better, and if he continues to put up good numbers he probably we be the seen as the best TE in the division.
